Braveheart, I think JS has had enough with our bullpen problems and he’ll actually do something about it this offseason. I bet we offer Wickman a 1yr/3-4 deal and hope he stays. My guess is Cleveland will offer another 1yr/5 deal and we’ll have to see where he wants to play.
I think JS will try and move Giles this offseason. He’ll probably try to resign Reitsma to a small incentive laden contract and he’ll try and resign Smoltz and Andruw to extensions. If Andruw doesn’t accept, then he’ll be moved. Other than that we’ll have new faces like Hampton, KJ, Boyer, and Foster back next year. My thoughts only…

“I bet we offer Wickman a 1yr/3-4 deal and hope he stays. My guess is Cleveland will offer another 1yr/5 deal and we’ll have to see where he wants to play.”
If he doesn’t retire, I feel good about getting Wickman back. It sounded from what the Indians were saying they are done with Bob Wickman, period. They didn’t even want him in 2006, they only took him after their top target, B.J. Ryan, went to the Blue Jays. My only fear is some team may seen how he is playing now and break the bank for him, but it sounded like Wickman only wanted to be traded to the Braves and the Braves only, so, again, assuming the Indians don’t want him, and if he doesn’t retire, I think Wickman returns.
“I think JS will try and move Giles this offseason.”
I do too.
“If Andruw doesn’t accept, then he’ll be moved.”
I think they’ll keep him for 2007. If the Braves are doing poorly by the July trade deadline in 2007, they’ll trade him, if not, they’ll keep him and pray he wants to stay in Atlanta.
Huddy needs to at least 7 tonight…I would really prefer not to see Yates, Ray, etc…

“Bob Wickman already said he isn’t going to retire. He actually got upset when it was said he might retire after this year.”
Wickman said in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that he would pitch next year if he felt as good as he does now. He may not. I really, really hope he stays.
I would love to see Wickman brought back for next year and beyond. I kind of doubt that will happen though based on JS’s past history. He doesn’t like to sign big ticket free agent relievers. I can see him once again trying to piece together a bullpen of young players like Macbride, Boyer, and Devine and a few players pulled off the scrap heap like Reitsma (again).
You have to figure Giles will be traded for salary reasons with Aybar being the leading candidate for 2nd base.
I highly doubt Andruw will be traded in the offseason. He will bring back more in return next July and I doubt he’d waive his no trade clause anyway. He has said repeatedly he wants to stay in Atlanta, so I have to figure he’ll give it as long as possible to work out an extension with the Braves.
Barring a total firesale due to new ownership, Smoltz will have his option picked up.
Beyond that, I don’t see the Braves doing much. Their payroll is just too constrained right now. They will stick with what they end this season with aside from departing free agents like John Thompson and hope that next year they have fewer injuries, Mike Hampton and several other pitchers come back strong, young players like Aybar and Francoeur elevate their games, and that the bullpen comes together earlier in the season than it did this year (or has it even yet?).

At least from the stats, he has a low walk rate (12 BB in 241 AB). Much of that, however, derives from his lack of power (15 XBH, including 2 HR), so pitchers don’t nibble against him. His strikeout-to-walk ratio is at the high end of reasonable (28 to 12).

Nice change-up Huddy.
Prado has only struck out 226 times in the minors.(his first year was 2001) He also has walked 151 times.
Plus he has maintained a .300 avg all but 4 times.(2001 he hit .299)
He doesn’t have homerun power but he gets alot of doubles.
Yea pedro, fire away.
Looks like Brian J. already took care of the Prado stats. 🙂
.184???? Who is he? A batboy?
Nope, he is TONY PENA JR.!!!! He’s worse!
If you heard closely on FSN Francouer just described his batting approach to *every* pitcher.
So he would be the batboy’s assistant?
“MANDRILL!!!”
Nope even worse, “Batboy Trainee”.

My Top 25 will be up by Friday. I’m finishing up the stats today. (GREAT PLAY BY CHIPPER). I’ll finish my take on all of the teams on Thursday.
Chipper is playing some Great defense this series!!!
The reason he is in AAA is because of his name…thats it.
So what you’re saying is that if I change my name to John Schuerholz I will play in AAA and maybe in the big leagues?
Is there a Bobby Cox III out there that I’m sure we will draft and then allow to hack it up in the minors.
That adjustment worked….yea….
