Brian J.

Kyle, he may still be taking the Braves’ word for it that Betemit was 16 when we signed him.
And let me reiterate my position. A slightly-above-average middle reliever at his best is not worth trading away a utility infielder who plays regularly and would be a plus hitter at any infield position except 1B (and he’d be average even there). Nick Green is valueless.

Stu

Why would I want him back? It probably has to do with his dominance in the NL when we had him last season.

Perhaps his comments during the offseason about how the Braves are finished and their run of division titles would be coming to an end (even if he was right, still.) Remember that?
Kyle S

The Braves were prohibitted by MLB for signing international free agents for a year because of the betemit age-gate fiasco, so MLB certainly believes he was underage when signed.

“It probably has to do with his dominance in the NL when we had him last season.”
If we trade away Betemit we are committed to Giles for next year, or have to go hunting again to fill in gaps in the middle infield and may have to trade a top prospect again like we did with Marte(do we have any?) The Marte trade did not bother me much, but you can not do it every year either.
Brian J.
on July 26, 2006 at 5:25 pm
Trade away Betemit and, yes, we’re committed to Giles (unless we want to give Prado or T. Pena a try as a starter, which I would rather not). As for top prospects, there’s still Salty.
Stu

Grst
on July 26, 2006 at 5:26 pm
All things being equal, one wouldn’t expect a middle reliever to be more valuable than a WB. With Giles and Chipper such injury risks, having a versitile infielder good enough to be a starter is a huge plus. But considering the number of games our relievers have lost us and how strong our offense is, I think there’s a case to be made for a Betemit for reliever deal.
But I wouldn’t move Betemit for anything less than Linebrink. Even Linebrink has his concerns, with his HR numbers being up significantly. Still, he has a track record of success, which Proctor does not.
Why would we have to give up WB for a reliever when we just gave up a low A ball catching prospect who’ll never see Atlanta(unless McCann has a career ending injury) for a very good closer in Wickman?
Honestly, there’s just not much out there and certainly not enough to give up WB! I mean we got lots of middle infield prospects(Prado, Pena, Andrus, Escobar). Those guys aren’t ALL going to be starters for the Braves.

“The main thing was winning,” Farnsworth said. “With what the Braves were doing, I didn’t think they had a chance to win the division again. They’re a great team, but to get a chance to come to the Yankees, play for this organization, I never thought I’d say I’d be a Yankee. It’s the greatest organization, so I was willing to come here.
“Maybe it’s [the Braves’] time. Fourteen straight is long enough for them.

Big deal. Players equate spending money with trying to win, and the Braves no longer spend money. And of course he was right about the end of the streak.

wickman only allowed the idians to trade him to a handful of teams due to his 10 and 5 status. This may have weakened the market for him a bit.

Yeah I don’t care how good Farnsworth was/is/would be. He’s a loser, and I was very glad he wasn’t on our roster this year. I take pride in having guys on our team that we can be proud to root for, and I couldn’t say that about Farnsworth.
I’d say that’s a very formidable rotation, though I wonder if Josh Johnson can stay this good. He’s pitching better than he did in the minors right now.
It could be solid for years to come…if they can keep everyone.
This team used to have Brad Penny, AJ Burnett, Josh Beckett, Carl Pavano(pre injury days) and Ryan Dempster (when he still did something) throughout the years.
News: According to SI.com’s Jon Heyman, Pat Burrell told the Phillies he’d only accept a trade to the Yankees or Red Sox.
Impact: The Philliles were working on sending Burrell to the Orioles for Rodrigo Lopez, but the outfielder wasn’t interested in going to Baltimore. Since it doesn’t look like the Yankees or Red Sox are considering Burrell, he seems set to stay in Philadelphia for the foreseeable future.
Isn’t hard to be that picky when your batting .260 w/ 2 million SO’s. I guess not, could be why he’s playing every other game…

A five-pitch inning is twice as good as a ten-pitch inning. Smoltz looks like he could pitch twelve if he needed to. Let’s not need him to.
Ok, finally took the time to re-read the earlier parts of the thread.
Re: Farnsworth
I am somewhat split down the middle on this because he could be a very good pitcher but no, when all is said and done, I think if given the chance to bring Kyle back, even for C-level Minor Leaguers (let’s say), I would pass.
I am with Dan…his quote was insulting and here’s a guy from the state of GEORGIA.
The Braves don’t have to be every player’s first choice but after seeing Farnsworth’s quote, that leaves a sick feeling in my gut, more then I already had towards him.
I’m listening on radio, but it seems like a pretty good risk to me. If the Marlins have to make a good play, go for it, and if you fail your leadoff hitter leads off the next inning.

Between innings chatter…
I don’t know how many of you still hate the Dodgers after all these years, but for me watching them fall apart has been a joy. Listened to today’s game on the radio and Steiner and Monday sounded about as down as you will here team paid broadcasters. When Jose Cruz Jr. pinch hit and hit a first pitch week popup (a Marcus essentially), Charlie Steiner sounded like he wanted to strangle him. Great stuff.
Well, first he tried to score from second on the squeeze, then he fell down and let a ball go over his head for a triple. It’s been an eventful game for him.

JC, I couldn’t agree more. For the record, I am certainly not opposed to trading Betemit, but it better be for something a helluva lot better than Scott Proctor. I wouldn’t really have that big of a problem with Linebrink, he, in middle relief, is as good as any closer that is available. Betemit almost got traded last year for Jorge Sosa, let’s remember that people. The DRays had their choice of who they wanted, and they picked Nick Green. He has done a good job of raising his stock since then, but let’s not make him into the second coming. Take a look at his splits and I grant you, he hasn’t had the most consistent playing time, in April and June he was certainly average, and in May and July, he’s been great.
I have met very few Red Sox fans in my life with a modicum of common sense. They are like the ‘children of the corn’ of Baseball fans.

Agreed, Giles. He should be a ten game winner by now too.
I would rather him end the inning with only a 1 Run leasd then use a pinch hitter, risk still getting an out, and then having our middle relievers for 2 innings.
Smoltz has thrown a lot more innings so far this year then had been the intention. Again…if here was a real bullpen, SCHUERHOLZ, he’d have been on a better innings pace all year long.

Farnsworthless is not welcome back as far as I’m concerned.
I would love that trade. Then Farnsworth could be closer/set up man for 2 more years.
No, it’s Hollandsworthless. Farnsworth has a lot of value, your jaded perception not withstanding.
“who is cheap for a middle reliver…”
Proctor ain’t exactly expensive. I think he is making the MLB minimum.
But yeah, Betemit for Proctor alone is a bad deal.
Good luck with the interview, Smitty. You are better qualified than most ESPN incumbents. Of course, that ain’t saying much and, as with most employers, the hardest part is getting in the door.
Gotta agree with Stu. Farnsworth has a lot of value now, and would have had even more value if we had signed him in the offseason.
Farnsworth trashed the Braves after he signed with the Yankees. Why would you want him back?
How did he trash the Braves, other than by signing elsewhere?
Why would I want him back? It probably has to do with his dominance in the NL when we had him last season.
Perhaps his comments during the offseason about how the Braves are finished and their run of division titles would be coming to an end (even if he was right, still.) Remember that?
The Braves were prohibitted by MLB for signing international free agents for a year because of the betemit age-gate fiasco, so MLB certainly believes he was underage when signed.
“It probably has to do with his dominance in the NL when we had him last season.”
I’m sure the Astros feel the same too.
If we trade away Betemit we are committed to Giles for next year, or have to go hunting again to fill in gaps in the middle infield and may have to trade a top prospect again like we did with Marte(do we have any?) The Marte trade did not bother me much, but you can not do it every year either.
Trade away Betemit and, yes, we’re committed to Giles (unless we want to give Prado or T. Pena a try as a starter, which I would rather not). As for top prospects, there’s still Salty.
No, Dan, I don’t remember those comments, or else I would have known what you were talking about in your previous post, right? Care to provide a link to that information?
It was one bad game, in a tiny park where Berkman’s and Ausmus’ fly-ball outs were turned into homers. I’m awfully glad you aren’t making the personnel decisions for my team!
Me fisking DOB on the Betemit/Proctor “deal.”
Just having fun.
Good stuff J.C., excellent points…..
–Bravesfan1
Don’t forget Eric Campbell either! I just wouldn’t want to give up WB who’s PROVEN he can play at the major league level.
— Bravesfan1
BTW, Max Ramirez might get some playing time up in the bigs maybe next year. With the trade today of Ben Broussard it was said that Victor Martinez will be moving to 1st base soon.
I don’t know for sure that the catcher spot will be his but I highly doubt it will be Kelly Shoppach’s job alone.
chip and andruw both in the lineup tonight. I smell VICTOREEEEEE!
Line-up…
M. Giles 2b
E. Renteria ss
C. Jones 3b
A. Jones cf
B. McCann c
J. Francoeur rf
A. LaRoche 1b
R. Langerhans lf
J. Smoltz p
Awwww back to normal. Offense tonight
If we can’t beat Florida tonight..with our “#1” line-up…we might aswell forget about that WC..
I know Johnson has been good this year, but we need to beat Florida at home..
http://atlanta.braves.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/article.jsp?ymd=20060215&content_id=1312168&vkey=spt2006news&fext=.jsp&c_id=atl
Betemit hitting first is our #1 lineup, but this is much better obviously. Gotta keep winning two out of three, especially against the weaker teams. Really need this one.
I hope seeing Chipper back in the lineup isn’t an indication that Betemit has been given away for bullpen fodder.
Big deal. Players equate spending money with trying to win, and the Braves no longer spend money. And of course he was right about the end of the streak.
I don’t really have a problem with that quote. I’d take him in our bullpen right now. A couple of cheap flyball home runs in Houston is clouding everyone’s judgement.
wickman only allowed the idians to trade him to a handful of teams due to his 10 and 5 status. This may have weakened the market for him a bit.
You know, this Home Depot ceiling fan commercial REALLY sucks.
I am glad Farnsworth is a Yankee. He is a chocker and we have enought of those on our team as it is.
Yeah I don’t care how good Farnsworth was/is/would be. He’s a loser, and I was very glad he wasn’t on our roster this year. I take pride in having guys on our team that we can be proud to root for, and I couldn’t say that about Farnsworth.
With a name like Uggla, Dan’s childhood must have been absolutely horrific.
A ten-pitch inning is a nice way to start.
Way to get it started, Edgar!
Whats everyone’s thoughts on how good FLA’s SP rotation will be next year.
Willis, Johnson, Sanchez, Nolasco, Olsen
That’s pretty solid for years to come. Anyone’s thoughts???
My TV is now muted!
And Edgar steals second!
I’d say that’s a very formidable rotation, though I wonder if Josh Johnson can stay this good. He’s pitching better than he did in the minors right now.
Skip explains Wilson’s name:
“He used to be ‘Bet-uh-mitt’, but he changed his name to ‘Bait-uh-mee’. So he’s truly a player to be named later.”
It could be solid for years to come…if they can keep everyone.
This team used to have Brad Penny, AJ Burnett, Josh Beckett, Carl Pavano(pre injury days) and Ryan Dempster (when he still did something) throughout the years.
Rat and Torg suck!
that was not a strike.
Safe to say our scouting report on Cody Ross sucks…
A five-pitch inning is twice as good as a ten-pitch inning. Smoltz looks like he could pitch twelve if he needed to. Let’s not need him to.
I’m getting the FSN Florida feed…
I’ll be live blogging this one…mainly cuz im bored
Joe basically said that last night’s ejection was good because for once LaRoche seemed to care.
Lets get some runs…please!!!!
Smoltz will only need 1
but I will take more
C’mon Hans lets take some pressure off here.
langy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Langy with a clutch hit against a really good pitcher? I will take it!
Nice. Please don’t squeeze.
Langy! Showen some glove and hitting.
uh-oh
Smoltzie might be hurt,
Oh shit, this is not goodl
stayin in, hopefully this wont be bad
Smoltzie!!!!!!!!!!! squeeze!!!!
Heh…what was Langy doing..
wow…cool play and bad ending all the same time–glad we got a run and it certainly was fun to watch!
That squeeze was brilliant and would have been really nice if Langerhans hadn’t pushed it.
Man I love the squeeze play….dang, I hope Smoltz is ok, though. That did not look promising.
Or do squeeze. Either one really.
I guess well see how bad he’s hurting next inning, lets get a bunch of runs and get him out w/ an easy win
What a stupid play by Langerhans. Smoltz could have used that time to sit in the dugout and rest his groin.
that was all Langy, Fredi wasn’t watching Langy at all
Smoltzie looks fine…lets all calm down.
We get a 6 run lead, take Smoltz out in the 6th and win in 15
looks good so far
Great stuff.
that sucks
Now THAT was idiotic by Langy. Good Lord.
That, however, sounds like a really bad play.
need a 3 pitch out here
He was out by about 3 feet Mac. It would have been nice for Smoltz to sit and rest for a moment
What happened…my tv went black…what did Langy do?
This umpire is terrible
Great play Adam and John. Now long ab’s here, let Smoltzie rest a bit
I would say that Eric Cooper has an early dinner date tonight.
Oh good that’s what you want to see, Smoltz having to run and dive to get the out on a bad groin
That’s Web Gem-worthy in my book. Nice flip by Roachy,
Well, first he tried to score from second on the squeeze, then he fell down and let a ball go over his head for a triple. It’s been an eventful game for him.
does it scare anyone to see John running around the infield?
that looked scary for Smoltzie too but we have to remember the guy is a GREAT athlete and he showed it right there as well…go get ’em old man. loved that hustle from our team leader.
seriously, I don’t want our best pitcher getting hurt but the man is out there hustling his arse off, playing Baseball…I love it. Go Smoltzie.
Yeah, Smoltzy is showen the kids how it’s done.
wow…only 4th in the WC race? not as bad as I thought…
And the D-Backs and Giants are nothing. It’s basically just the Reds unless the Astros finally get it together. Still 5.5 is still quite a gap on July 26. Can’t give many more away like last night.
Smoltzie is dealing…
Smoltzy is cruisen tonight!
Well thank God we won’t have to face The Cody Ross with anyone on base.
BMAC!
MCCANN”S CANS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
One of the questions I had to amswer over the phone today was:
“Name three Florida Marlins.”
I said
“Ugla, D-Train, and Cody Johnson”
The ESPN guy laughed and said
“Cody Johnson? You must be a Braves fan.”
MCCANN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Cans are dancing! The cans are dancing!
that boy good fella’s
JJ3,
I agree with you on the Betemit/Proctor thing…Linebrink, yes, I think he can be our closer, but not freaking Proctor.
It better be Linebrink and Williamson for Betemee
My Red Sox friend says he woudl do the Betemit-Proctor deal in a heart beat. He says Proctor can deal
Proctor Farns and Green
Way to go Huckleberry.
Your Red Sox friend doesn’t know anything about anyone but the Red Sox and Yankees. That is, if he is a typical Red Sox person.
Smoltzie looks smooth tonight. Like Shaft out there.
Marlins announcer —–> “Smoltz looks like man determined not to give it over to his bullpen”
Mac,
I have met very few Red Sox fans in my life with a modicum of common sense. They are like the ‘children of the corn’ of Baseball fans.
Hello, I see Shiell is pitching tomorrow night, What was the roster move to bring him up last week?, I think it was sending Moylan down. And then Part two, when wickman joined who got bounced ?
thanks
Davey,
Now THAT is really funny. oh…and sad.
I agree, Alex.
csg, the Marlins rotation will be solid. They also have Yusmeiro Petit whom they acquired in the Delgado trade along with Jacobs. Also, Jason Vargas is down in AAA, and I didn’t think he was that bad last year. They definately have some nice pieces in place.
I heard we’re going to trade Pratt for Glavine, is that true?
bravefan in canada,
Moylan and Kevin Barry are both back in Richmond, replaced by Shiell and Wickman. Good riddance to both.
Rob,
The Mets did say that if we gave them Jorge Sosa, they’d also throw in Wagner. I am cool with that…
Dammit.
I hope we can get these runs back. this doesnt look good now.
Smitty, if ESPN uses that test to screen job applicants, don’t you think they may not be pleased to find it on the internet?
Was it just me or did Betemits relay throw look like it was moving in slow motion?
bleh
Dammit again.
If we lose to these effing Marlins again, I am going to puke. C’mon ace…please pitch like your supposed to?
Smoltz’s struggles pale compared to Hudon’s.
Does anyone have any numbers on Smoltz’s luck this year, maybe BABIP or BA with RISP? It seems like he gives up more runs than a guy with his peripherals and stuff should. He’s been pitching much better than his ERA would indicate.
Agreed, Giles. He should be a ten game winner by now too.
That was ugly Andruw…
Ugly swings.
Wow, really caught a break there..
Thank you!
And the baseball gods show pity on us.
Wow… Uggla made an E???? YAY! lol
You know when I got on the computer to catch up on comments we were winning 3 – 0 …and then it ended up tied up! I should’ve stayed away I guess!
Maybe we’ll get at least Chipper in here! C’mon Jeff!
Damnit Jeffrey!
Someone needs to write a new version of “Cat Scratch Fever” for Francouer with the words “first pitch swingerrrr”
Oh well… C”mon Adam!
Please be a hero here, Adam.
Adam!!
Your wish has been granted, Alex R.
YES!!!! WTG!!!
Adam!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Huckleberry!!
Bobby,
LEAVE SMOLTZ IN.
I would rather him end the inning with only a 1 Run leasd then use a pinch hitter, risk still getting an out, and then having our middle relievers for 2 innings.
I’ve seen do damage in these situations before…
ok, Smoltzie didnt do anything but would rather have him in the 7th (and possibly 8th?) then say a Yates, or Ray or Paronto or Sosa…
Nevermind.
I hear we’re going to trade Sosa for a new vending machine, is that true?
Top of the order up next inning too, so that’s not too bad.
Crap….
ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG
Wow, that was a shot
GGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG
Damned if you do, damned if you don’t, huh Alex?
TIme for Wes Helms to beat us
Was Giles just making a double play with a phantom runner?
Gotta love that nasty inside stuff.
Is Sheill really a better option than Cormier or Sosa to start Thursday?
My Jack Russel terrier is a better option than starting Sosa..
Why hasn’t Bobby DFA’d him yet?
I don’t know Davey,
I hear your jack russel walks too many
I wish we had a pitcher named Jack Russel.
I wish I had a shot of Jack Daniels.
You’re right Smitty
Her control is pretty shaky…
The incomparable Torborg: “This Uggla looks like a battler, just to look at his face and body shape.” Wha?
Dang it… this is not what I had in mind!!!
Ok…that sucked
Hmmm, game over?
Yikes.
Wow, swept by the Marlins
If we had one other extra good reliever, we wouldn’t even have to have Smoltz out there right now.
But this may not be the Smoltz of old…just an old Smoltz now…5 great innings and then nothing.
That being said, the greatest fault 100% lies with John Schuerholz who continues to not bring this wretched bullpen more help.
No problem. We still have 6 at bats to get this game!
Homers or strikeouts.
Smoltz has thrown a lot more innings so far this year then had been the intention. Again…if here was a real bullpen, SCHUERHOLZ, he’d have been on a better innings pace all year long.
Alex, he did just get Wickman so you can’t really say he continues to not get them any help.
In all fairness, his pitch count is still reasonable. Bobby isn’t leaving out there to dry.
i thought Adam had that ball…
And considering how many teams are looking for closers right now and what little is availible and what we got Wickman for… He did an awesome job.
That was not a “tricky hop”, that was just a terrible defensive play.
But I won’t say anything else about Adam while he keeps hitting.
(Waiting for an awesome Lando comment)
Huckleberry strikes again.
Don’t want to let my fans down.
Land,
He needed to get another arm. Who the heck can set Wickman up? The Boogeyman?
He should have gotten Wickman or someone of that ilk in December…that being said, he needed to get another arm.
As we can all plainly see, if we can’t even get TO the 9th, then theres no point.
Big pitch
Who knows what JS was dealing with and for how long he was trying to make a deal. I can’t pass judgement on something when I know so little about the details behind the scenes.
Damnit!
Would of, could of, should of
Wow, these umpires are terrible!
NO WAY
Ha… I love Bobby!!
Bobby had to get tossed so Smoltz didn’t. This is great
God I love bobby. He’s awesome.
Shit, he did swing, but as Torgor said
“Hardworking ump.” my ass
This umpire completely sucks.
If Bud Selig would hire some good umpires…
Smoltz has been furious lately.
I’d like to predict that the Braves will miss the playoffs by one game, and this game will be the reason why. I am disgusted.
How can you be a hard working umpire? Read the rules everyday?
I’ve never seen Bobby take it that far (with the line in the dirt). I half expected him to pick up second base and chuck it in the outfield.
Same here Mac.
Hehe, I have seen Bobby way more keyed up than that Rob.
5-5!!!!!!
ANDRUW!
ANDRUW SAVES THE SEASON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11111111
DRUWWWWWWWWWW
OMG THE MLB.TV FEED IS BLACKED OUT AND I MISSED THE HOMER, son of a
Quadrangular!
ANDRUW!
What rallied the team more, Bobby getting tossed or a hanger to Andruw?
Holy Mother of Pearl…what a blast
or was it the hard working first base umpire?
Six of one, half a dozen of the other. Andruw’s still on a 40-HR, 144-RBI pace for the season.
Awww, FOX can’t show us graphics. I can only watch the game. too bad
What a tragedy, Smitty. I’m sure you’ll never allow that to happen.
It would be nice to launch one here Adam
Yea… I was thinking the same thing! Finally we get to watch the game!
The game just isn’t the same with out sci-fi sounds and explosions on the screan
C’mon Rochey!
Taylor Tankersly, that sounds like a charicter from a Rocky movie
Yea… I wish their mics would’ve gone out too!
YESSSSSSSSS!!
ADAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ROCHY!
ROCHIE!
We’re saved!
So do we want to trade him now?!?! HAHAHA
Landogarner, that’s your boy!
WHOA!!
Baby!
HOMERBERRY!
AWSOME!!!!!
Note that that’s his third HR against a lefty this week.
Davey, I read your “YESSS” before the homer. MLBTV is on a delay. Awesome.
ADAM!!!!!!!!!!! WOOHOO!!!!!!!!!!!!
AWESOME!!!!
LMAO @ Marcus hitting McCann! Almost knocked him down! That was priceless!!!
Ok, if we win Huckleberry officially does not suck.
So I guess he can hit lefties
He has locked down his spot in the lineup. I am so happy with his production. Wow.
Where is Brian Jordan when you need him? We needed him in LaRoche’s spot against that tough lefty. Oh wait . . .
Who is this guy wearing the Adam Laroche costume???
Ok, none of you will BELIEVE THIS but I am going to tell you anyway:
My wife got home a little while ago and she came up laying on the couch with me, telling me about her day and then Adam came up and RIGHT BEFORE THE HOME RUN, I said, “c’mon Adam, I will you to hit a home run!!!!”
and then he did 🙂
For my next magic trick, I have asked it to stop being so damn hot outside and expect a cool front here in Virginia tomorrow.
Whoa, that’s big of you, Lando.
Also, Tankersley went to UA and is just paying tribute to Lance Cormier.
Wow Landogarner, that is a statement
LaRoche is now batting .271 against lefties, versus .275 overall. He now slugs better against lefties than righties for the season.
hahah…that’s cool Rob
I don’t know about Smitty’s barber, but my garbageman says he heard that we were packaging Langerhans, LaRoche, and Salty for this Tankersley dude.
My garbageman is retarded.
CA is pretty miserable too, Alex.
I think that was a blak
Let’s get some mo’
Needless to say, my wife, not a big Baseball fan…was impressed and asked If I could will money for our next mortgage payment on our townhouse so we dont have to pay it.
balk
Well it is Wickmania!
Lando my Man…that is why I didn’t attack Mr. laRoche too hard on the cruddy defensive play earlier…he’s still hitting so I am done with the Adam negativity.
Bring out the Wick.
I need to make a good picture of Wickman in a Batman mask.
I wonder if they could get the song from “Dance Mania” on the Cosby show to play for Wickman
Potential Wickman rooting sections:
1. The Wickmaniacs (straitjackets, Napoleon hats, rainbow wigs, etc. Has advantage of annoying mental health advocates.)
2. Wick’s Candles.
ONLY if we win Alex 😉
I wonder where the Braves found a tent with “Braves” on one side and “Wickman” and a number on the other?
Smoltz comment not shown: “Also, I’m glad we have someone balder than me.”
Mac, you should hear the interview the did with big Paranto
they, not the
There’s one.
I love the crazy face Wickman makes
Raxafraxing GameDay froze on me.
Constant 91 on the gun isn’t that bad for Wick. Hope he switches up the pitch selection a little bit though.
Hmm, this seem familure
Brian –
I don’t think it’s frozen… I think the guy doing our game took a bathroom break.
just 1 more..
2 down.
I think the Gamecast guys get off at ten and someone else is supposed to come in.
Please, no Uggla, no Cabrera.
Oh no. I can feel some weak-ass game tying single coming.
YES!
LaRoche!…Wicky!!…. Yes!!
Whew.
Game over, Game over.
Yeah, baby.
If Adamis holding a runner, that might have been a hit
What a game. I’ll give Rochy all the benefit of the doubt in the world.
As for tomorrow…I don’t like our chances but I refuse to bash Jason Shiell, a fellow Savannah native. I really want the kid to do well, but I am not hopeful.
Wickman has already earned his weight in single A triple blocked catching prospects.
That is why we had to win tonight Alex
MLBTV froze on me too, how did they get a guy on first?
Sooooo nice to have an inspirational victory.
And so nice to have Smoltz get a rare win when he was a little less than great. Getting 6 runs for him is big.
Mac,
In your “Post Game”, lay out a LaRoche-Delgado comparison. This gets interesting-er and interesting-er.
Wickman gave up a hit to center
Ok, Huck officially doesn’t suck. But I still reserve the right to call him Huckleberry, since I named him that.
Smitty…I completely agree and understand.
Sounds good Landogarner
That’s all right, Bob. You can give up a harmless single every once in a while. Just don’t let it get out of hand.
Awesome.
well, Land, Huckleberry can now officially be a term of affection…if this holds up for him.
Maybe he’s finally doing the Ridalin thing?
Hehe, whatever works huh Alex?
Well, to quote Doc Holliday, he’s our Huckleberry
Nats making a comeback against Benitez. Kearns up in bottom of 9th, one out, bases loaded. If Houston holds on, we can gain on all 3 teams ahead of us in the WC race.
Land…If Adam wants to take Viagra to keep hitting like this, then he should call Bob Dole whenever he wants!
Walk-off sac fly, Nats win
Adam is like Turtle on “Entourage”—he finally has a purpose 🙂
NATS WIN! NATS WIN!
I wonder if that has ever been said?
I doubt it Smitty…
Hehe, Deadwood and Entourage. Makes Sundays worth living.
One more win & it’s one more series victory.
I’m actually looking forward to being in the office tomorrow. Love those day games.
