I think Grissom’s bat plays as is. And while I’m not giving up on him being the SS of the future, he’s just not ready for that quite yet. I do think he has true “super-utility” abilities, especially while young. Snitker has been bull-headed on his everyday starters, but is it due to the lineup or the defense? My guess is it’s likely both, but more about the lineup. If that’s the case, Grissom could go to AAA to work on playing multiple positions and let Shewmake take over at SS. If Grissom could “learn” to play 1B, 2B, SS, 3B, LF, and RF, it could seriously unlock so much potential to stay fresh all year.
Yes, I’ve beaten this horse but it keeps coming back.

Every day I wake up, it’s another day closer to Ozuna no longer being a Brave. I can’t get too worked up about how much the lineup sucks right now because we’re just limping right now. It’ll sort itself out.
I’m definitely looking forward to Soroka. It seems inevitable at this point.

The TBD scheduled to pitch twice for the Marlins may be a typo for TungstenArm O’Doyle.
I would buy the idea that the Braves are letting Ozuna hang around for service time reasons more if they had him buried on the bench instead of getting regular at bats.

Agreed. I do not fault them for wanting to do the guy a solid so he gets his 10/5 service time but I do fault them for running him out there 4-5 days per week.

While I must admit that I frequently roll my eyes at your Super Sub fixation, Ryan, I’m beginning to come around on it for Grissom. Especially if that means we get rid of Ozuna. Or make him the DH until d’Arnaud gets back, then rotate him around. I don’t think he’s gonna do us much good in Gwinnett, and his bat would certainly be helpful. Is it really worth keeping him in Gwinnett all year to improve his defense from bad to mediocre at best? I’m kinda thinking not.

I don’t think Grissom is going to get much better defensively at short. I agree that he needs to be learning other (easier) positions.
I am so excited to see Soroka back. I mostly hate this comparison because it’s overused and mostly does not give enough credit to the great one, but his starts really do remind me of Maddux. Soroka has great control and movement, and uses it to pitch efficiently via easy outs, and I grew up watching that style in the 90s.

is the game thread working? I dont see any comments at all.
I suppose it’s both good and bad that this team’s biggest flaw is so obvious. Expect the Mets to work hard to get into our ‘pen as quickly as possible (weather permitting).
New bar! I’ll kick off the conversation: Who are you most excited to see get the call from AAA?
I would say Soroka, just because of his journey and I always loved the way he pitched.
I like Rios and Holmes for the pen and Shewmake for Grissom only because Shewmake can catch the ball. Leave Grissom up to play left field though…lol

Another piece for the Bar. FYI, if you’re not paying attention, I’ll list all the pieces that are being channeled into the bar.
We also have a Game Thread.

That was my fault. I didn’t turn them on. If that happens again, anyone can email me to let me know. Sorry, guys and gals.
We have a special guest recapper filling in for Alex that you’re not going to want to miss.
For the Jason Isbell fans, his new single:
Yup, he did it again…

Good to have Money Mike back!
Clint Manry’s piece on the Stripers appears to have a large chunk copied and pasted twice. Might want a quick edit?
Thanks! I’ll look into it.

Lest anyone think the playoffs aren’t a crapshoot, I give you the 2023 Boston Bruins.
