“Mark Charles Teixeira (IPA:təːʃɛɹə) (born April 11, 1980 in Annapolis, Maryland) is a Major League Baseball player with the Atlanta Braves. He is mainly a first baseman, but has also played at third base and in the outfield. On July 25, 2007, Teixeira was traded to the Atlanta Braves for Jarrod Saltalamacchia, Chris Woodward and a PTBNL (likely Pete Orr or maybe Old Man or possibly Dan Kolb or could it be Chris Reitsma?), according to Bill Shanks and the posters at BravesJournal.com.”
“On July 25, 2007, Mark Teixeira was falsely traded to the Atlanta Braves by some weirdo on Wikipedia who was bored and wanted to fool some Braves fans. An anonymous reader of the MIB/Braves blog, in defense of Braves fans everywhere, decided to erase the falsehood before it could become the fuel for hours of inane commenting that AJC Braves beat writer David O’Brien would be pestered by.”

They weren’t gonna sign Linebrink… or at least, I guess that’s what it means since they traded him. The Padres were on record as saying that if a deal couldn’t get done quickly they would deal him for prospects. Their pen is sick sick sick anyway.

King Diamond,
I wish that was the case; I really think Bobby is just infatuated with Julio.
From what I heard on ESPN Radio on the way home from work:
1. The prospects the Padres got are really good & as we all know, their bullpen’s already loaded.
2. ESPN Radio reported in their sportscenter update that Mark Teixeira is the biggest name on the block and that the Braves were the front runners.

According to Baby Braves, Kaaihue’s been promoted to Double A.
Well, that sounds much better. Gagne appears to be fine.
King Diamond
on July 25, 2007 at 7:33 pm
Kaaihue still strikes out a hell of an awful lot for a top prospect. I guess some Adam Dunn-types eventually sneak through and find MLB success, but he’s the exception to the rule.
King Diamond
on July 25, 2007 at 7:34 pm
I would absolutely LOVE to see Gagne on the Braves, but there’s just no way that’s happening.
But there’s nothing wrong with an Adam Dunn type player. Dunn may strike out a ton, but he has only grounded into 48 double plays in his career. One out is better than two if there’s a guy on first.
King Diamond
on July 25, 2007 at 7:38 pm
I’m in agreement that Kaaihue’s other numbers are exciting–it’s just that the K’s are problematic and you’d like to see a guy get that under control before reaching the majors. A high minor league K rate likely portends an exploitable flaw in his swing that MLB pitchers will jump all over.
Well, Dunn didn’t have high strikeout totals in the minors, so maybe he’s just an exception.
Dan
on July 25, 2007 at 7:41 pm
“Teixeira is in the Texas lineup tonight. I guess we’ll have to wait another day…”
I don’t think anything is happening tonight (Schuerholz’s mid-season trades are usually on off-days if I remember correctly, so I think Monday is when something happens), but this is not the case. Remember when Bobby Abreu last got traded last year? He was in the line-up on July 30, 2006 and got pulled in the middle of the game.
If Teixeira is pulled in the fifth inning tonight for no obvious reason, you’ll know.

If you are Daniels and you really have 3 teams interested, I don’t see how you pull the trigger 5 days before the deadline, unless you feel overwhelmed by an offer and it is take it or leave it. Maybe JS does that, but I think Daniels waits for a little more urgency to set in closer to the deadline.
1998, Billings: 125 AB, 23 SO
1999, Rockford: 313 AB, 64 SO
2000, Dayton: 420 AB, 101 SO

So I guess as he got more ABs each year, he got more and more strikeouts.
King Diamond
on July 25, 2007 at 8:03 pm
Okay, forget Dunn…I just hope Kaaihue’s high strikeout totals do not indicate he has an incorrectable, career-limiting hole in his swing.
I think Dunn and (To a lesser extent) Jack Cust have proven a player can still succeed in MLB with gaudy K totals, as long as the same player possesses a preternatural affinity for taking walks and hitting home runs.
Well, Ka’aihue also had 53 walks for a .410 OBP. That’s pretty good for a high-strikeout guy.

Point made. However, the annals of minor league history are littered with guys who could mash at A ball, but who never overcame the increased level of competitive pitching at the higher levels. I hope Kaaihue does not become one of them. The walks are a great sign, but the strikeouts are something to keep an eye on, too–both as indicators of relative potential MLB success.

Oh, you’re absolutely right, of course. The Dunn comment just got me thinking of Dave Kingman, and I started poking around. This is a clear case of correlation != causation. They weren’t great because they struck out, rather their strikeouts were tolerated BECAUSE they were great hitters, or they wouldn’t have played so long to get those numbers.

So. I’m drunkish right now. And I was thikning. I wonder if any MLB trades have gone down while the people in control were hammered. Franco is the only player who’s hit one hard since the 1st inning. Unless Tex is going to hit a bunch of solo’s it wont make a difference. It makes me sick that we are going to lose another one run game and Aurilla is the cause of that
its because we have a free swinging offense that swings at everything that comes their way. No reason that this soft tossing lefty should be under 100 pitches after 8. He’s good but not that good
Francoeur makes so many first pitch outs, mostly weak popups in the infield. How many times can you do that before it jams into your thick skull that swinging at the first pitch about half the time isn’t just a great idea?
Most hitters when they make a weak, first pitch popup out feel cheated. It seems as though Francoeur considers it a productive at-bat sometimes.
4.0 games back of the Mets. Just 1.0 ahead of surging Phillies for second place. Just damn.
I completely blame Saltalamacchia. He, unlike Kelly Johnson, did need a hit, just a long fly ball. The drawn-in infield opens all kinds of holes up. And he fricking strikes out.

would you have let McCann or KJ bat for Salty there?

We had the lead off runner on most of the night and did nothing
Yes, I would have let McCann hit for Salty in a heartbeat there. Sometimes you gotta let the experienced hitter take the money swings.

I’m not questioning letting Saltalamacchia hit there. I just blame him more than Kelly Johnson.

The Braves got only one extra base hit in the game, Francoeur’s 9th inning double.
Gotta have more than that to win.

we had the leadoff hitter on in 4 of the last 5 innings and didnt score. When our offense is slumping its really bad. Anyways win tomorrow and thats 3 of 4 out here and thats good no matter what

Padres lost again. Braves trail them by one game in the wild card chase.
Who changed it now?
This is what I saw:
“On July 25, 2007, Mark Teixeira was falsely traded to the Atlanta Braves by some weirdo on Wikipedia who was bored and wanted to fool some Braves fans. An anonymous reader of the MIB/Braves blog, in defense of Braves fans everywhere, decided to erase the falsehood before it could become the fuel for hours of inane commenting that AJC Braves beat writer David O’Brien would be pestered by.”
That’s at the bottom. 😛 Such is the folly of Wikipedia. Heh.
well, now it’s gone. But it’s preserved here for all eternity. 😀
You guys are idiots.
Hey, don’t shoot the messenger. I just posted what that last paragraph in the article once was.
You just realized this Justin?
You have to admit this is funny:
“PTBNL (most likely 10-time NL All-Star and future Hall of Famer Pete Orr)”
Ooop, it’s gone now.
I really had no doing in this. I stopped changing Wikis about a year ago.
I really want my own Wikipedia page. That would make my week.
I tried to make my own but it was deleted. They said I wasn’t famous enough.
The Brewers acquired Scott Linebrink. He would have been nice.
Scott Linebrink traded to the Brewers for three minor league prospects. I do not understand that one.
They weren’t gonna sign Linebrink… or at least, I guess that’s what it means since they traded him. The Padres were on record as saying that if a deal couldn’t get done quickly they would deal him for prospects. Their pen is sick sick sick anyway.
The Pods might also be clearing salary/acquiring prospects to deal for a hitter.
Inman is considered by some to be the Brewers top prospect, now that Gallardo and Braun are in the majors.
Linebrink’s been pretty bad lately, too.
You know your pen is deep when you can deal Linebrink mid-season and still expect to make the playoffs…
Well…they have a great shot, but it’s not like they can “expect” to make it just yet.
As good as San Diego’s pitching is (yes, I know about Young), they are still such an un-scary team. They really do need another stick.
When all your regulars besides two hit below .270, you’ve got a problem.
Brian Giles
Career SLG%: .518
This year: .380
Marcus Giles
Career SLG%: .434
This Year: .326
Some of that is ballpark, but let’s just say there may be something else at play here. If those two hit like they used to, the Pads would be pretty tough.
Glavine walked the bases loaded in the first then got Nady to GIDP.
Then they dropped 3 on Gorzelanny in the bottom.
3-0 NYM in the 2nd.
Nady: Another member of the dreaded Ex-Mets Stealth Sabotage Unit.
Teixeira is in the Texas lineup tonight. I guess we’ll have to wait another day…
Arghh No more days… i need to see if we got raped or maybe just touched or possibly we ran away with the deal. Goodbye Salty can we at least see Salty in the Lineup one more time
One positive thing is that I like the players the Braves are rumored to be after a lot more than those the Mets appear to be interested in. I just read that they are looking at Sammy Sosa or Mark Grudzelanik.
The Braves are right in holding Salty out of the lineup–if he gets hurt, there is no Tex, there is no Snell, etc.
He’s also in a slump and we don’t want to showcase that.
or maybe just touched
So funny.
(God willing…)
Barry is out of the lineup for 2nite??
According to Baby Braves, Kaaihue’s been promoted to Double A.
braves14,
I heard that. Sounds like he’d be ready if Teixeira is gotten by Atlanta and not re-signed.
http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/spt/stories/072607dnsporangteixeira.aeab0031.html
Another link – claims we want Gagne as well for Salty, Davies/Harrison and Andrus
Well, that sounds much better. Gagne appears to be fine.
Kaaihue still strikes out a hell of an awful lot for a top prospect. I guess some Adam Dunn-types eventually sneak through and find MLB success, but he’s the exception to the rule.
I’m in agreement that Kaaihue’s other numbers are exciting–it’s just that the K’s are problematic and you’d like to see a guy get that under control before reaching the majors. A high minor league K rate likely portends an exploitable flaw in his swing that MLB pitchers will jump all over.
*looks up Dunn’s minor league stats*
Well, Dunn didn’t have high strikeout totals in the minors, so maybe he’s just an exception.
I didn’t know that about Dunn. How odd.
Well, I’ll put it in context here:
1998, Billings: 125 AB, 23 SO
1999, Rockford: 313 AB, 64 SO
2000, Dayton: 420 AB, 101 SO
2001, Chattanooga, Louisville, Cincinnati: 594 AB, 156 SO
So I guess as he got more ABs each year, he got more and more strikeouts.
At Myrtle Beach, Ka’aihue had 309 AB and 92 SO, so he DOES look like a Dunn-type player.
True.
Well, Ka’aihue also had 53 walks for a .410 OBP. That’s pretty good for a high-strikeout guy.
These guys all did ok despite striking out a time or two…
Rank Player (age) Strikeouts Bats
1. Reggie Jackson+* 2597 L
2. Sammy Sosa (38) 2284 R
3. Andres Galarraga 2003 R
4. Jim Thome* (36) 1985 L
5. Jose Canseco 1942 R
6. Willie Stargell+* 1936 L

17. Chili Davis# 1698 B
18. Dwight Evans 1697 R
19. Rickey Henderson 1694 R
20. Dave Winfield+ 1686 R
…and in case you think these are just counting stats, almost all of them (biggio being one notable exception) were multiple top 5 leaders per season.
Galarraga had the Braves record for strikeouts in a season, but he was still one of the best dang first basemen we ever had.
Anyone hear our batting order yet?
Tonight’s lineup:
Escobar
Renteria
Chipper
Andruw
Francoeur
Diaz
Saltalamacchia
Franco
James
Tonight’s lineup:
Escobar 2B
Renteria SS
Chipper 3B
Andruw CF
Francoeur RF
Diaz LF
Saltalamacchia C
Franco 1B
James P
Left off positions, my bad.
Ooohhh…Salty…Let’s hope he does not tweak a hammy or strain an oblique!
That would suck
SERIOUSLY, WTF
Franco again?
We have to get Teixeira, or we will be looking at this BS for the rest of the season.
At least there’s the excuse of a lefty on the mound. And McCann needs a day off after yesterday.
1. Have adequate coverage at 1B
2. Play worst hitting player capable of playing 1B
3. Aquire worse hitter than player in step 2 and give him all the playing time.
4. Sell the farm to aquire 1B because player in step 3 is not hitting.
5. hed asplode
Thanks to Thor for taking advantage of his opportunity.
Well, this is a good start to the game. Let’s get some more runs across.
Hey look – a Andruw RBI
Let’s see if Chuck can take advantage of his luck here
where’d everybody go?
I’m here. Lucky Chuck. 🙂
We’re gonna need many runs tonight.
i think the dodgers got tex
Juliold’s act is getting tired.
Julio, hero for the middle aged, pre 1960 born demigod! It is alas time to board the ship into the West and there stay evergreen, O dignified long bat wielder…
Murphy,
I don’t see anything that says that. They sure acquire a lot of players they don’t need.
Chuck James with a 25 pitch 1st inning. Ugh.
if it is true.
Hopefully JS is working on filling this 1B hole. Something must be up because they are playing Franco every game (I can see tonight but not the last 2), and they said when they signed him it was mainly for pinch hitting. Betcha Thorman starts tomorrow too instead of Salty.
I also hope JS is working on a LH reliever as well. I guess if Reyes is thrown into the deal they are counting on Cormier or Davies to fill the 5th starter role.
“i think the dodgers got tex”
You mean got=get right?
well, i just turned it to baseball tonight and it showed what the LA lineup would look like with him in it. then at the bottom of the screen (not the ticker) it said “traded: loney and pitching”
i don’t know if it really went down or if they were just prognosticating.
Well, I don’t see anything on ESPN or MLB.com. I think they would have broke that already.
i can’t confirm it online though
Exactly. It would have been online by now if it was the case. That trade doesn’t exactly make any sense, really.
It would be on the MLB.com Dodgers website, and I don’t see it, so I think they were just speculating.
but i can’t get over why the graphic said “traded loney and pitching” instead of “would trade loney and pitching” or something of the sort.
weird.
sorry for the false report. i’ll be more careful with my journalistic responsibilities henceforth.
Well, for whatever reason, the proposed Loney – Teix angle has been widely reported. I agree the Dodgers are not really improving, given the salary cost, if they do this.
James with 42 pitches through 2 scoreless
I was watchin’ it Murphy. They showed what the 3 supposes frontrunning teams would look like if they acquired him. They showed Boston, Atlanta, and L.A.
Exactly. Why would they do it?
Dance, my doom and gloom puppets, dance. James will only pitch five innings. Go on and whine and moan.
Hell, if we GET Tex, and the Dodgers are still up for it, I’d swap them Tex for Loney +
Tex is playing right now for Texas, so I doubt anything has happened yet.
i agree. sorry for the false alarm. could have sworn the graphic said “traded”
uh Chuck…you may want to pitch around Feliz….he’s about the only threat in that lineup.
Pedro freaking Feliz is getting on my nerves.
It frustrates me how Braves pitchers make such fat pitches to good hitters. James should have pitched around Feliz in that situation because he is the only guy that can hurt them. Last night Hudson made a really fat pitch to Bonds on an 0-2 count and was lucky it didn’t become 754. I wonder what these guys are thinking sometimes.
Wow, that was a funny hop.
So. I’m drunkish right now. And I was thikning. I wonder if any MLB trades have gone down while the people in control were hammered. Being a GM is sort of a 24/7 job, so you KNOW JS gets tanked every now and again. I guess some are better at holding their booze than others (JS v. someone like Littlefield).
Yay for my pointless post GO BRAVES.
agreed…with no Bonds we should be pitching around Feliz Navidad the rest of the game. enough already with this guy.
RBI Opp for future Ranger Salty. GET IT.
Dang.
Oh well. I think I’ll go play Resident Evil 4 again or something.
Gosh, the TBS broadcasts have really declined over the past couple of years, IMO.
This is the longest interview ever.
Josh,
There’s an old story where Yanks GM George Weiss & Red Sox owner Tom Yawkey got drunk one night & they traded Ted Williams for Joe DiMaggio. The Splendid Splinter with the short RF porch in Yankee Stadium, the Yankee Clipper with the Green Monster at Fenway. Imagine the possibilities.
As the story goes, they woke up the next day & soberly changed their minds.
Hard to beleieve Selig sounds even more oily than he looks.
James Loney had a lower minor league OPS than Thorman, though he had a great year in Triple A last year (though in the PCL).
ububba,
ive been around baseball stories for so long and i havent heard that! that’s awesome! what a super awesome legend.
if only JS could get Cashman and Steiny drunk and swindle off their good players for next to nothing. if i’m ever a GM, that’ll be my goal.
i got scared catching up on the posts. I think, for the Rangers, a deal with Dodgers makes the most sense. Hopefully JS works some magic. Could Thorman be included in the deal? I think I may be the only Thorman supporter left.
i think it’s safe to say you’re the only thorman supporter hate king
I do support the Teixeira trade; so it is safe to say i won’t be coming up with a stupid fan club, with a catchy nickname based on Scott’s surname.
I was really hoping Thorman would do well so we’d have some sort of nickname like God of Thunder to fall back on. Oh well.
walk feliz, please
Chuck with 85 pitches through 5. He can probably go one more for the QS.
Context, Braves14 – Loney is 2 years younger.
Actually 89.
who’s more now… scott thorman or julio franco?
i can’t stand the “who’s now” waste of time… and i haven’t even paid attention to it. change the channel anytime it comes up. sportscenter has pretty much become unwatchable. and that’s a sad, sad statement. why do they need to make a tournament to see which athletes they hype the most?
I see. I’m just not that high on him, his power isn’t that great, but he’s got a great BA.
Good job by Chuck getting out of that jam.
Now let’s get 6-7 runs and put this one away.
way to leg it out edgar
crap
need James to get us through the next inning. This game is boring – to many weak popups and groundouts. We need to win today, I think Lincecum could be tough for us
so much for that
Murph — much agreed about Sportscenter. And I know that most will not agree, I think the show is too fast paced as its been redeveloped over the years. That, and the background music for each highlight gets tedious too.
Crap, James just gave one up…
ugh
aurilia?
wash and phil are now in the 14th
2 great plays by Edgar, where is our offense?
Annoying thing #67 about Chip Caray…he always references W/L record when talking about pitchers’ success.
Time to answer back right now.
Good outing for Chuck albeit against an anemic offense…time to get some runs.
I know he’s a long, long way away from the Braves, but Cole Rohrbough had another outstanding start tonight for Danville – 5 IP, 10 K, 0 BB, 0 ER.
He now has a 52/6 K/BB ratio in 30.1 innings. With him and Tommy Hanson, it’s nice to see the Braves have some dominant pitchers in their system. The soft-tossing left-handers just aren’t as exciting.
thanks for the update KLB
tom 123 — sportscenter is also moving towards being less and less about the sports and more and more about the personalities (even the on air personalities)
csg, tonight is the perfect example why this offense needs Tex in a big way….
wow.. ryan howard is a beast
#121 – yes…tonight’s game is important to say the least. Lose it and you are faced with the possibility of another series split with a relatively weak team – after winning the first 2 games. This may be getting ahead of things, but it has to be considered. the Braves need to be taking 3/4 and 2/3 againsg these weak teams insetad of playing .500. Understatement I know, but true.
time to see what kind of power Salty has
I want us to be able to go for the sweep tomorrow, we need a 8-2 or 9-1 run here over the next few weeks
cmon Julio!
Come on Julio, I believe in you…
Would have been nice to have Tex there.
white flag woodward to the plate.
ugh
Possibly the biggest plate appearance in the game…and Bobby sends in Woodward to pinch hit. I’m disgusted.
Not a huge deal, but Diaz has got to tag up on that fly to Roberts.
Come on Billy Bob…we need a hit….extra bases if possible.
explain two things to me..
why wasnt Diaz in a position to tag up and get to third, if the ball is over Roberts head he scores anyway
why is Woodward batting with people in scoring position????
might as well bring kyle davies up from richmond to pinch hit (it killed me to have him up at the plate at the end of the 15 inning loss to the reds)
Agree…he need to be on 3rd.
#141 & 142, we’re on the same page
144 — i’ve never understood why players don’t wait and tag up on plays like that
i mean, you could walk home if that gets over roberts’ head… so what are you doing taking off?
Yeah, that was terrible baserunning.
Woodward sucks…how many times have I said that before?!
and yet it’s pretty typcial
Imagine that! Thanks Bobby for letting them keep the lead and not giving James any opportunity to get off the hook. You’ve cost him two games since the break by bringing in Soriano and now you bring in Woodward to try and get him a run. Bend over, Chuck wants to kick you!
Way to be consistent, Wood.
Both Diaz and Salty should have been at 2nd and 3rd on that fly ball. No way Roberts can throw either one out from the CF wall
Who do you want to see hit there instead of Woodward? And don’t say McCann…
Paronto sighting
Anyone. Hah.
I would let KJ hit there
Chad Paronto….
155 — good question. how about dion james? that would be cool.
I would have hit Kelly Johnson in that situation. He’s a better option than Chris Woodward. Then again, JoAnn Woodward is a better option than Chris Woodward.
Glavine got #299 tonight and Gorzelanny got injured
I’m sure all Bobby thought about was the left-handed pitcher and Woodward was the only right-handed batter on the bench. Why doesn’t Bobby realize how bad Woodward is?
We cut ties with Wilson, Redman, Langerhans; therefore, it’s not like the team is completely oblivious to players who suck.
best chance at a run here, cmon Esc, Renty, and Chip
Paronto with a good inning! *GASP*
Another go-round with the lineup. Is one run possible?
YEah come on Esc Renty and Chip we need some runs here
Chip Caray, when asking himself who he’d take as the best RHP over the last 30 years.
“Bob Gibson”
Gibson’s last year was 1975.
“I would let KJ hit there”
But that would require Cox to go against his lefty-vs.-righty match-up obsession.
KLB,
i saw matt harrison pitch a less than stellar day game here in chattanooga. he went 6 inning gave up 7 hits for 4 runs. he’s now 5-7 and i doubt he’ll make his way up anytime soon.
ka kaaihue was 0 for 4 and 2 SO
Come on Renteria.
Letss get this party started
check out Paronto’s #’s over the last 30 days
http://atlanta.braves.mlb.com/stats/sortable_player_stats.jsp?c_id=atl&baseballScope=BS1&teamPosCode=all&statType=2&timeSubFrame=15&sitSplit=&venueID=&Submit=Submit&timeFrame=1
dont bunt here, let him swing
Time to score. No more DPs, please.
dang
I think we are due for a comeback win
were those pitches as bad as they looked on gameday?
Drop a bomb, Chipper.
this is ridiculous, we need more than one bat
Renteria and Chipper Jones just got blown away.
wow
Not happenin’ tonight, guys.
Lowry is tough…gotta give him credit
A strikeout bomb. I guess we have to wait for the next inning.
beedee, yes they are all that bad and I havent seen Gameday
He’s got a nasty cutter tonight.
doesn’t bode well for andruw.
prove me wrong andruw…
there’s our cleanup hitter
Sorry, Murph.
I feel this game’s outcome would have been different with Teixeira instead of Franco.
Lowry carved up 2-4 like a thanksgiving turkey.
Oh well…i’m out.
Frenchy, Diaz and Salty the last hopes. Lowry going for the CG, I bet.
that was a little less than inspiring
Dont worry Francoeur is gonna hit one out!!
Have we gotten an extra base hit tonight?
dan, this game might have been different with ted simmons instead of julio. speaking of… how old is ted simmons?
Franco is the only player who’s hit one hard since the 1st inning. Unless Tex is going to hit a bunch of solo’s it wont make a difference. It makes me sick that we are going to lose another one run game and Aurilla is the cause of that
Paronto for another!
Dan,
Blame Daniels for not doing the trade yet. Apparently, he’s the one who wants to get rid of clubhouse cancer Tex. But not THAT much…
It would be sickening to lose this game against a Triple A lineup.
Well, he DID have only 8 pitches the first inning.
… but it’s because a good pitcher shut us down.
Breaking Bats what do u know
That’s not a Triple A pitcher out there.
its because we have a free swinging offense that swings at everything that comes their way. No reason that this soft tossing lefty should be under 100 pitches after 8. He’s good but not that good
and the lineup is way too old to still be in AAA
Actually, he has 104.
I wish the Giants still had Benitez.
thanks Sam
its funny and sad that we are going to lose two games in 4 days becuase of guys named Rich and Skip
Remind me to go to bed next time.
Dan,
Come on, even he’s not that stupid.
dan — frenchy’s made a little bit of progress this year. baby steps. but it’s still annoying…
Pretty good stuff by Paronto holding off the Giants.
Time for a little 9th inning magic.
cmon 3 straight hits here…
any odds on Frenchy taking the 1st pitch?
Nah he’s hacking away
*peeks in the Braves’ Ninth Inning Magic Bag to see if they have any or the Giants stole it all last night*
It’s still sickening. Not one of their starters tonight would start for us.
besides the pitcher.
My vote is for three straight swings because a hit is “essential” here.
Lol im with u Sam
WOW, no swing!
DOUBLE
Great start.
Now get Francoeur in.
Frenchy!
YEah FrenCHY!! ata boy
Hennessey is officially an idiot.
Something else that bugs me: When you leave the box, THINK TRIPLE! He could have made third easily.
allez!
nice diaz
Frenchy at third, one out. SALTTEEEEEE
Productive out
cmon Salty a deep fly ball, please
alright salty… get something in the air
Come on Salty!!
Alright Salty, get him in.
actually.. over the wall please. i want to go to bed
show some power
Okay, bringing the infield in is usually stupid, and more stupid than usual on this occasion. Watch it work.
nope, their defense it to old they need all the range they can get
McCann or Johnson better be on deck.
Thats a sign for Salty
cmon dangit, we’re due!!!!!!!!!
… you know, I’d walk him in this situation. Thorman would probably be sent up and that would be an easy DP.
If you’re SF, you gotta bring in the infield here.
Crap…..
absolutely pathetic
Tex, please.
Hooray! Some sense!! Kelly!
Yep, Saltalamacchia is a keeper….
That was a Francoeur swing from Jarrod there. The catcher was standing up.
And people say we shouldn’t trade him. Psssh.
who will bat for paronto?
work the count kj
Probably Thorman.
Bad loss.
GOod night, everyone.
agh
4 back
should have gotten a live chicken
4.0 games back of the Mets. Just 1.0 ahead of surging Phillies for second place. Just damn.
I completely blame Saltalamacchia. He, unlike Kelly Johnson, did need a hit, just a long fly ball. The drawn-in infield opens all kinds of holes up. And he fricking strikes out.
Goodnight ppl’s
would you have let McCann or KJ bat for Salty there?
We had the lead off runner on most of the night and did nothing
*did NOT
Splitsville, here we come. Another nice, frustrating effort by the Bravos. This runner on 3rd and less than 2 outs nonsense is getting ridiculous.
Salty’s hitting there. He failed. Happens.
Yes, I would have let McCann hit for Salty in a heartbeat there. Sometimes you gotta let the experienced hitter take the money swings.
I’m not questioning letting Saltalamacchia hit there. I just blame him more than Kelly Johnson.
We’re the definition of a .500 team. What is JS waiting on?
The Braves got only one extra base hit in the game, Francoeur’s 9th inning double.
Gotta have more than that to win.
we had the leadoff hitter on in 4 of the last 5 innings and didnt score. When our offense is slumping its really bad. Anyways win tomorrow and thats 3 of 4 out here and thats good no matter what
Padres lost again. Braves trail them by one game in the wild card chase.
