This one goes out to everyone’s favorite broadcaster, Chip Caaaaaaaaaaaray.

Rochy will hit but I don’t know if he is the kind of hitter he was last July and August. Those red hot weeks there really moved his final numbers to the elite level. Looking foward to seeing someone besides the Phillies or Mets on TV tonight.

I hope Adam LaRoche gets really hot….on Monday.
Go Braves and go Brewers (who are playing the Mets and Jorge Sosa today).

on May 11, 2007 at 3:02 pm
That trade is looking pretty good for the Braves now.
It still boggles the mind that Jorge Sosa got a World Series ring out of his pathetic season last year.
Re: Art Garfunkel.
Had a friend who used to work for Garfunkel’s former record label & he told me that ol’ Art was an enormous baseball fan.
Although he grew up in Queens, Garfunkel was a die-hard Philadelphia Phillies fan & whenever the Phils would come to Shea, he’d always get the label’s corporate seats for the game. Said Garfunkel was the nicest guy in the world, too.
Re: Kyle Davies
I don’t know if he’ll be victimized by a LaRoche HR, but I bet he walks him once.

Wow Mac do tell how you know this. Do you have inside sources at Snorg that you aren’t revealing.
Adam’s problem is that he’s a ridiculously streaky hitter who’s being asked to be their second-best offensive player. His best-case scenario is Ryan Klesko, but Ryan at his most maddening was never as slump-prone as Adam LaRoche.

I loved Klesko. I still remember the video of him on Cops busting in that door. Haha, good times.

The resistable force meets the movable object.
Tonight should be the night when Jorge Sosa turns back into Jorge Sosa.
I have to go now, see you tomorrow. I leave you with today’s Chip Is Stupid note… Chip, have you ever considered that the Pirates are just stupid, that they’re either not doing their due diligence on draft prospects, or not developing their pitchers properly? Possibly both?
It looked pretty bad. He definitely went at least 2-3 feet in the air and landed right on his left shoulder/arm.

ok ok, seems like Chipper is ok….
chip sucks
on May 11, 2007 at 6:59 pm
Chip is so bad that my neighborhood bar turns the sound off when the Braves are on TV. Chip drives his customers out of the bar – its like hearing fingernails scraping across a blackboard. Doesn’t TBS or their sponsers know what a disaster that that joker is to their ratings?
Judging by their attendance in recent years, they don’t. Last year, the Pirates had the 4th lowest attendance in the majors at 1,861,549. (Ahead of the Marlins, Devil Rays, and Royals.)
Those of you who listen to Young Jeezy might have noticed the following lyrics in his song “Keep It Gangsta”
Think I start for the Braves way I rep the A,
Like John Smoltz in his prime when I pitch the K.

Mets win over the Brewers. Jorge Sosa now 2-0. One win against Brandon Webb and the Diamondbacks and one against Suppan in the Brewers. I really hope he melts down.

Not sure Rochey was getting booed so much as the Bucs owners/management were getting booed. These are forgiving folk, but it’s tough up in Pittsburgh.
I’m sure he’ll find his stroke against us

Here’s one for Wryn… The Snorg T-shirts girl, she of the ubiquitous web ads, goes to Auburn.
Kyle Davies vs. the team with the lowest OBP in the majors. Should be quite a match-up.

Nah, someone linked to her Myspace page.
Way to go, csg, invoking Murphy’s Law on the first post. Now we KNOW it’s going to happen.
Adam’s problem is that he’s a ridiculously streaky hitter who’s being asked to be their second-best offensive player. His best-case scenario is Ryan Klesko, but Ryan at his most maddening was never as slump-prone as Adam LaRoche.

There’s a fine start.
Niice start for KJ.
Well, that was no fun.
Damn…
What a waste of a leadoff double. What was Johnson thinking on that Renteria groundout?
The thunderstorms here are probably going to knock my power out soon. I can feel it.
My retina isn’t very happy with those uniforms…
True, Dave. They’re like the Braves’ Sunday uniforms, only crappier.
Four ground balls from Davies. A good sign.
I have to go now, see you tomorrow. I leave you with today’s Chip Is Stupid note… Chip, have you ever considered that the Pirates are just stupid, that they’re either not doing their due diligence on draft prospects, or not developing their pitchers properly? Possibly both?
See #8. That was quick.
“See #8. That was quick.”
Nailed it. Even when LaRoche was slumping, he was always good at taking walks. That’s 18 for him this season.
Two warning-track flyballs in the inning are a bad sign.
And this is an even worse sign.
Oh shit.
Oh no.
shit……………………….
Please don’t be the annual Chipper injury…
god, this will not end good
How bad did that look?
That didn’t look like too bad of a landing. Unless he you know, broke his left arm.
Arm or collarbone?
It looked pretty bad. He definitely went at least 2-3 feet in the air and landed right on his left shoulder/arm.
ok ok, seems like Chipper is ok….
Chip is so bad that my neighborhood bar turns the sound off when the Braves are on TV. Chip drives his customers out of the bar – its like hearing fingernails scraping across a blackboard. Doesn’t TBS or their sponsers know what a disaster that that joker is to their ratings?
Nevermind, Chipper is fine.
Whew. Looks like Chipper’s staying in the game!
That was very scary…
Chipper is okay it appears.
This is definitely a Braves year if Chipper doesn’t get hurt on play like this!!!
Dammit, Brian.
Crap. I was worried McCann would do that…and he did.
Well that was a giant waste of time.
He hasn’t been swinging the bat well lately anyway. At least he upped Duke’s pitch-count, if anything else.
Besides, Duke has 10 ground outs already.
I don’t care that we didn’t score as long as Chipper is ok…
Ok Edgar didn’t make that play, but it looked nice?
…go get some in the next inning…damn, does Renteria look slow on defense…everything he does is in slow motion.
And on that play, Edgar took a really funny route towards the ball. If he runs directly across the diamond he maybe gets an out at second.
I really need to stop nitpicking him.
And also, EVERYONE is apparently terrified of Frenchie’s arm.
Just fricking great. Bases loaded, one out and the Braves don’t score. Now Pirates load the bases.
Ah, yes. The inevitable Kyle Davies blowup.
Bases loaded, no outs. This isn’t going to end well.
I guess that’s the reason why Frenchy is playing everyday…nobody dares to run on his arm…COME ON KYLE!!!
Paulino hits into a double play… we’ll be fine.
Good, got an out from Adam…I will take that.
Yeah, that was me. I totally called that.
Well, at least he only gave up one.
Or not.
Bases loaded, no out, and only one run scored. Not too shabby.
“and you know what Laroche would love to be able to do here.” Concentrate?
one run in four innings, so far so good. The offense needs to wake up earlier…can’t keep wait until the sixth or seventh inning before getting ahead…
That could’ve been way worse.
MISSING
Braves’ longball.
Another ground out.
who strapped the hans devise to wilson?
How in the world does Davies swing at ball four? If you’re as bad a hitter as him, why swing once you get to a three-ball count?
What’s a “hans devise”?
Oh, I don’t know, Dan, maybe it’s because he’s a bad batter.
device…da vice…duh vice
beer please
What? I’m missing something here.
the langer”hans” batting aid
sam,
sorry, we are a comment off from one another
OHHHHHHHHH
I gotcha.
Wow, pussyfooting around with Duke. Oh well.
ignore #73, that was a comment on my poor spelling, and poorer english as shown@ 32
Chipper’s wrist is still bothering him…
Mets up 4-1 over the Brewers in the 5th behind the arm of Jorge Sosa.
I marvel at the lamemess of Freddy Sanchez’s leadoff prowess (.306 OBP)
Of course Jorge Sosa is good NOW…
Well, Jeremy, even someone as super sucky as Sosa has his good days even in his sheer magnitude of suckiness.
sosa will suck again
zac dukes’ gameday picture looks like he a ricky williams have been hangin out
I’m not a fan of Chip Caray.
Hahaha
larry is on tonight
C’mon, Andruw. End this silliness.

FRENCHY! THE HOME RUNS HAVE BEEN FOUND!
Back to back. SWEET!
Hahaha Back-to-back! Of course.
HOME RUN DERBY!
what was that about pitch count?
That’s what I’m talking ’bout…
AND MY CAPS LOCK BUTTON IS STUCK! Oh, there it goes.
This 2-out RBI stuff is amazing.
And I usually hate two-out situations.
i don’t know how the pirates’ fans do it…i guess all the beer helps
Well, at least C. Wilson gets to see a new pitcher. A gapper here would be a big help—of course, an XBH is probably the only way McCann can score.
Don’t stop here, fellas.
thor is up!
Judging by their attendance in recent years, they don’t. Last year, the Pirates had the 4th lowest attendance in the majors at 1,861,549. (Ahead of the Marlins, Devil Rays, and Royals.)
Thorman. Why not?
THOR THUNDERS AGAIN!
THOR
Thorman!
Craig who?
still 17,000 folks nightly gut it out
That was sweet.
Let’s see if Davies can deal with a lead. Thru 5 IP, he’s only at 65 pitches (45 strikes), which might be some kind of record for him.
i’m gonna say no
Uh-oh.
That was really lucky there on Nady.
LaRoche time….
2 out. Haha
hiram, we need one more out.
shewwwwwww
Whew!
Well, how do you like that?
Davies has given up some hard-hit balls, but you gotta like the results so far.
6 IP, 6 H, 2 BB in only 80 pitches.
No complaints. Another inning from Davies & a couple of tack-on runs and maybe we can get out of here without taxing Gonzo/Soriano.
Kerwin must have a dinner dte
So who do you go to to close it out tonight? I’d really like Gonzalez/Soriano to get the night off
Hopefully Davies pitches an easy seventh and then Yates and Gonzalez can finish it.
Man, that’s a weak ass bench for PIT
DDDDDDDD
PPPPPPPP
Nice DP!!!
So far so good, Dan.
…and Kyle is very efficient tonight…many positives from Kyle tonight!!!
Hmm, you might be able to get an eighth inning from Davies. We’ll see.
It sure would be nice to see Davies, James and Lerew pitch good. These were the pitching prospects the Braves were counting on as the future.
let’s hope that walk doesn’t hurt us
Kali is slowly becoming very useful.
Annnnnd it doesn’t!
Assuming this holds up, I am stunned by the number of comeback wins by ATL thus far. Sure is nice to have a bullpen.
Well, an Adam v. Gonzo matchup is awaiting in the bottom half of the inning…
Those of you who listen to Young Jeezy might have noticed the following lyrics in his song “Keep It Gangsta”

Nice, business-like win tonight. Gotta kick these teams while they’re down. Sorry, Buccos.
Tomorrow Night: Chuckie hasn’t exactly been Sandy Koufax this year, but his counterpart, Tony Armas, has been brutal.
5 starts, 22.2 IP, 33 H, 14 BB, 7.94 ERA
Let’s make it 5 in a row.
