It’s been a minute, but Hey, we did it! The Braves snapped a five-game losing streak by end Baltimore’s six-game win streak Thursday afternoon at Camden Yards.
Ozzie Albies had four hits and scored two runs. Marcell OHzuna had two hits and drove in two runs, and Adam Duvall somehow had two hits to lead the offense to 12 hits and six runs. Combine that with Reynaldo Lopez‘s utter brilliance, once again, and together we are able to shout from the rooftops, “Hey, we did it!”
The Big Bear got the Braves off on a good foot, lacing a two-run single in the top of the first. OHzuna followed a lead-off single from Michael Harris II and a double by Albies to do what the Braves haven’t in the past two months. He drove in someone from third – and from second – with nobody out! His 106.4 mph double to right easily plated both Harris and Albies.
Lopez continues great work
And Lopez went to work. The supposed fifth starter when the season began saw his ERA dip to 1.69 after six innings of shutout baseball. He allowed just two hits and one walk while striking out eight Orioles in the win. An Albies single in the top of the fourth gave the Braves a 4-0 lead in the fourth, and an Orlando Arcia double in the sixth extended the lead to 4-0. Hey, we did it! We scored more than two and three runs!

Disappointedly last night, Joe Jimenez ran into some trouble after the Braves tied the game at 2-2 in the eighth. Today, Pierce Johnson did, too. He Kyle Stowers hit his first homer of the season, a three-run shot to make it 4-3. Another RBI-double from Albies and and Matt Olson gave the Braves some insurance, and Raisel Iglesias worked around some traffic in the ninth to earn his 17th save.
The make the flight home tonight and host the Rays this weekend. Chris Sale will take the ball for Atlanta. Sale is 8-2 with a 3.01 ERA. He will face Zack Littell, who is 2-4 with a 3.63 ERA.

That is wonderful! But if we can’t hit on teams like the Pirates or the Nats then we will definitely struggle again if we get the wild card this year. Get Adam Duval out of there! And can the Braves call Chipper again? Where is he?
I think it’s safe to say that one way or another we will be a completely different team when the playoffs roll around. It was super important to get the win to stop the downward spiral, but there is no way we are as bad of a hitting team as we’ve looked in recent weeks.
Duvall still in the lineup vs a RHP.
