When I think about the Texas Rangers (and, let’s be honest… I very rarely think about the Texas Rangers) I mostly think of two trades: the one that brought Jeff Burroughs to the Braves before the 1977 season in return for Adrian Devine, Ken Henderson, Dave May, Roger Moret, Carl Morton and $250,000 and the one that brought Mark Teixiera in mid-2007 along with Ron Mahay in return for Elvis Andrus, Neftali Feliz, Matt Harrison, Jarrod Saltalamacchia and Beau Jones. You don’t see many of these quantity-based trades any more.  Discuss.

I have a few other Rangers thoughts, I guess.  I think of Ron Washington falling just short of being a World Series-winning manager in game 6 of the 2011 of the World Series, a game in which the above-mentioned Elvis Andrus scored a run and the above-mentioned Neftali Feliz blew the save, and, as it turns out, a World Championship. Discuss.

The Rangers are of course now the World Champion Texas Rangers. Discuss.

My final Rangers memory is my only game attended in Arlington; I bonded with my future son-in-law when Otis Nixon strode to the plate and I said: “Otis! My man! He loves us.” No need to discuss.

Ryan Cothran making a Truist appearance tonight. I’m having to use up some of my better recap material in order to do this game thread because of it. Discuss.

Andrew Heaney (0-2, 6.75 ERA, 1.58 WHIP) against Chris Sale (1-1, 4.58 ERA 1.13 WHIP) at 7:20.  Discuss.
