AJ Smith-Shawver got his first win last night and the Braves turn to Jared Shuster tonight, who’s carrying a 5.05 ERA on the year. Much of the inflated ERA has been influenced by his 1st 2 outings where he pitched 8.2 innings and gave up 8 earned runs. Since then, he’s been much more palatable as a 5th starter with an ERA of 4 flat and an even more palatable .608 OPS against. The Rockies will counter with Dinelson Lamet whose surname should actually carry an “n” between the e&t because that’s what he make Rocky fans feel when he gets on the mound as he’s rocking a +10 ERA in 21.2 innings of work.

Braves Lineup

Sean Murphy gets the night off and Ozzie Albies stays in the 2-hole.

Piece for The Bar

If you missed it, check out the latest piece for the Bar that discusses players from High and Low A that are deserving of promotions.

Braves Backing up the Backups, Sign Jesus Aguilar

Aguilar played a game in the FCL and went 0-4. After a strong 2021, Aguilar has had poor seasons back to back. Still, he’s only 32 and carried an .801 career OPS through 2021. Like Anthopoulos and the Braves analytical team did with Orlando Arcia, if they can identify a flaw in Aguilar’s swing and get him fixed, that could be a really strong bat off the bench in the playoffs.

Michael Soroka Starts for Gwinnett and Wall Breaks Streak

Michael Soroka will try to regain a place on the Braves active roster with another start in Nashville tonight. His last outing, Soroka went 6 innings and only gave up 1 run on 3 hits and collected 6 strikeouts. Until last night, Forrest Wall had started the year with 38 straight stolen bases but collected his first CS of the year. The great thing about streaks is that they can always start up again.

Alright boys. Let’s get it.
