It appeared to me as I tuned in to MLB.TV today that the Braves vs. Mets series was washed out. Atlanta lost 16-4.

Unfortunately, this was an ugly game. The only time you want to see Luis Guillorme pitching is in a scenario like the one below.

The problem, Braves fans, is Guillorme pitched today. But he now wears a Braves uniform. And he pitched because the Braves were losing. Losing badly, in fact!

I told you the series was washed out. It isn’t my phone or laptop that’s the problem. It was horrible pitching and repeated hitting by NY that caused the problem.

Allan Winans made his 2024 debut and was piss-pounded around the old ball yard. He surrendered eight hits and seven runs in five innings work. Most of those hits went for extra bases, including a home run by light hitting (.105) DJ Steward.

Disgustingly, NY scored a single run in the first, added two in the second, and four more in the third. The team from up north then added three more in the seventh, two in the eighth, and then bludgeoned their former teammate for four more in the ninth.

Not many bright spots

The lone bright spots for the Braves were Adam Duvall and Ozzie Albies. Duvall was 2-for-4 with an RBI and run scored, and Albies was 2-for-5 and didn’t commit an error today.

Regrettably, Atlanta pitching was woeful from start to finish. Dylan Lee, Tyler Matzek, and Guillorme allowed eight hits, nine runs. Winans was sent back to Gwinnett for his efforts.

It’s time to flush it. The Braves return to action tomorrow when they begin a three-game set against the Fish in Miami.
