Well…there’s some good news and some bad news for the Braves these past 24 hours as Reynaldo Lopez has been sent to the IL, retroactive to August 2nd (which means he will only miss one start) and Bryce Elder was recalled to start tonight’s game (in a way, it’s both good news considering Lopez will likely get to make his next start). However, the best news of the day comes in the form of our CFer Michael Harris:
I hope it’s a short rehab as 50% Michael Harris II is better than 100% of the others.
This is Fun
When I was 21, Outkast released their album “Stankonia” which contain mega hits “So Fresh So Clean”, “Ms. Jackson”, and “B.O.B”, When anyone brings up hip hop out of Atlanta, they’re the first mentioned and Billboard named Big Boi and Andre 3000 the best rap group of all time. And tonight, we will get a full does of 1/2 of Outkast in the booth:
Braves Lineup
I’m sorry Luke Jackson. I am for real. Never meant to make your momma cry, but I have released you a million times.
Next Man Up
The Braves really have struggled to make ends meet in the OF. A friend of mine that I used to write with over at WalkOffWalk is now a mainstay over at Battery Power and he shared this little nugget yesterday:
So, if the current group doesn’t get the job done, is there someone the Braves could call up? The answer is no. There’s no noteworthy addition that could move the needle, so the Braves must get on those hands and knees and pray that this offense gets hot again. One thought has been to put Marcell Ozuna in left field and utilize both catcher in the lineup, which makes sense especially if the plan is to sub Ozuna out in late and close games for defense. We shall see if Brian Snitker goes off the cuff to deliver some late season magic.

OutKast and R.E.M. are the soundtrack of my life. This rules!
Boy, if this doesn’t look like 8-2 Brewers, I don’t know what does, but that’s why we play the games
It saddens me that we have to continually have Bryce Elder pitch for us.
8-2 is actually kind. This thing might be 14-0
Elder just throwing batting practice.
He should throw to us. We need practice.
That 6.27 era of Elder doesn’t deserve to start at this level ever again. It is pathetic he is the choice we make to start an MLB game.
Edit- make that 6.43
At least we put the ball in play to not score the run from third with 1 out
Our record when the other team scores 4 runs is laughably bad since April, so I feel like it’s safe to turn this one off.
Funny how the ball is only carrying when Elder pitches it.
My goodness, he is dreadful at this level. He needs to try the KBO.
I just don’t understand why we keep trying with him? A bullpen game would be a better option. He is like a young version of Tommy Milone
At this point, I think they’d be better off with a bullpen game rather than an Elder start.
If you’re already down 7-0 then at least make Elder pitch until the 6th and save the bullpen for the rest of the series.
Instead, you have what’s effectively a bullpen game with almost no chance of winning.
I completely agree. Just let Elder wear it and keep the bullpen arms available for the rest of the series.
Boy, the bloom has come off the Chavez rose since they started talking about him as an ASG candidate.
Of course elder screwed the pooch, but they’re about to get shutout for the second straight game, the offense is the real problem.
Now they’re gonna burn Jimenez, too? Really?
