In his first rehab start after a stint on the 60-day IL, Kyle Wright was throwing darts in Rome last night. Wright, the 21-game winner for the 2022 Braves, struck out four in three innings. He threw 23 strikes in 26 pitches.
When Wright is right, his stuff plays. He has an electric fastball and the bender – sweeper, curve, slider, whatever it is – is almost Charlie-like. If the Braves get him back, and he is Wright…all together now…it’s like making a trade without giving up any prospects. So far this season, he has struck out 20 while walking 10 in 18.2 innings. In his breakout season last summer, he struck out 174 and walked 53 in 180.1 innings.
Let’s hope Wright continues throwing darts and rejoins the Braves in early September. He completes the rotation makes is Wright…er, right!
