Jobu woke the Braves bats in support of Spencer Strider last night, now it’s time to win another rubber game. Atlanta is 8-1 in series-deciding games this season and look to beat new Angel, Lucas Giolito in a 12:20 ET get-away game.

Yonny Chirinos makes his second start for the Braves. Let’s hope it is better than his first. In that first one, the veteran went 3.2, giving up four runs on six hits. The Braves won that game, 10-7, but it’s not likely we hang 10 on Giolito. Even if Chirinos struggles today, the bullpen should be well-rested, and with an off-day tomorrow, I imagine all hands are on-deck for Snit and the Braves. The Angels have little to no experience against Chirinos, so maybe that will help.
The opposing pitcher
Giolito is 1-2 in his past seven starts, losing his debut with the Angels to Toronto. He struck out five in 5.1 innings of work. Matt Olson has 2 HRs in six career ABs against Giolito in his previous life with the Braves other AAA affiliate, Oakland. Eddie Rosario has also homered twice off the Angels starter, hitting .265 in 34 Abs.
Let’s go, boys! It’s time to win another rubber game before heading north to hand it to Dansby and the Cubbies. It will be fun to see Orlando Arcia and Money Mike Harris II do their thing in Chicago. And it won’t suck to have both Austin Riley and Olson beating balls onto Waveland and the other road outside of Wrigley, either.
Rubber game lineup
Here’s how Snit will send them out today for the rubber game.
Forgetting to open comments is a real thing…sorry, y’all. Good to see Chirinos get thru the first unscathed.
So far, not bad. If Yonny completes two more innings, he’ll be tied with Ramon Garcia for the 53rd-most innings by a Venezuelan pitcher in major league history!
Atta boy, Ronald!
He’s pretty good.
Boy, that was a super aggressive send by Wash. But, it paid off! Nice slide by Arcia.
Man, this team can really mash…
I think Lucas Giolito’s in shock.
This offense is Susan Sarandon-in-Bull Durham-saying-“Oh, my”-to-Kevin Costner-worthy.
Jaw-droppingly handsome.

The dope who dropped the game thread said he didn’t think the offense would hang 10 on Giolito. The only reason we didn’t is because we chased him at 9. 😂😂😂
Not watching, but feels like the manager could have made a move earlier, and hung Giolito out to dry like he was sending a message to their GM. “You traded for THIS guy?!?!”
The Angels at the trade deadline were like the Mets during the Johan Santana no-hitter. They wanted to gamble on something historic even if it came at a serious long-term cost. They went for it, traded some good prospects, and missed out on the chance to deal Ohtani. From a fan perspective, I’m gratified they went for it. But they’re going to pay the piper.
The Braves have posted a collective .603 wOBA and .415 xBA so far today.
That’ll work.
Just a great AB from Travis there…
This team is ridiculous. Yesterday homers from the 8 & 9 hitters, today from the 1, 3 and 4 hitters.
Wait til 5-6-7 get it going again! You’re right, though…soooo very deep!
Let’s see, 12 runs on 12 hits, including 7 XBHs — 3 2Bs, 1 3B & 3 HRs.
As a team, the Braves are slugging .498 now.
There are still 56 games to go, but that’s the highest SLG% ever.
Wednesday recapper?
sent to Ryan at about 4:30 yesterday. He acknowledged the text message. Yesterday was his first day back at school.
Can you send to me? I’ll get it up.
Alex,
It is saved in Word Press and “linkified.” I think you have administrator privileges. Would you need anything else from me?
Eddie Rosario has been worth exactly 0 rWAR on the season now.
Cliff’s recap is up:
