The Braves have won 9 of their last 24 and the Orioles have won 16 of their last 24. However, Max Fried is on the mound and will bring his 2.93 ERA to the mound. For the Orioles, Ranger Suarez is on the mound for the Orioles and *checks notes* he has a better ERA than Max. Damn. Ok. Well, the Braves are due…that’s the silver lining. Somehow, the Braves are still 35-28, while the Orioles are 43-22 and yet, are somehow behind the surging Yankees. I’m sure they’ll all get injured soon enough and the Orioles will grab the lead before the All Star Break.
Some Minor League News
Nobody can hit in Pearl, and Drake Baldwin was no exception this year. However, he does have a solid bat and pitchers really love throwing to him. However, he’s more Travis d’Arnaud than Sean Murphy. This could very well be the Braves moving him up to let other orgs get a better peak at him before the trade deadline, because, let’s be real here, Murphy will be here for awhile and backup catchers ain’t grabbing the big bucks these days.
Let’s Hear from Braves Journalers!
You guys are more clever than I am, so give me your answer to this question:

I really hate having Harris hit leadoff. He’s like the 3rd or 4th worst hitter in the lineup.
Of course, he hits a leadoff triple to make me look like an ass.
The epitome of the Braves season. Lead off triple, Ozzie grounding out on a pitch in the other batters box, Riley k’s on three pitches and Olson pops out on the infield. Well done!
Truly incredible .
From a historic offense, to just being historically offensive.
I can’t believe we had a leadoff triple and couldn’t score. Just underscores what I’ve been saying; not only can’t we score a man on 3rd with two outs, we can’t even score him with less than two outs. Ugh.
That 3-0 lead might put thus out of reach.
Game over.
Our pitching is regressing and our hitting isn’t getting better. This season might get uglier really quickly.
At least we won’t get no-hit.
Still unwatchable. I’ll check back in another month.
I’ve seen no sign of Chipper this year working with the hitters. Bring him back AA.
These guys are swinging at pitches in a different zip code. Not a single pitch to Duvall has been a strike. And Ozuna swung at stuff way outside. Why should any pitcher throw strikes to us? Murphy never saw a strike and still struck out.
How much longer before we make some kind of changes? It’s not a brief slump anymore. We need a philosophical change. This just isn’t working
Back when Duvall was platooning with Kelenic, I wanted Duvall to start getting more PAs because I thought he had more game power (and Kelenic was struggling at the time). Well,
since Acuna’s injury and Duvall started playing everyday he has been just awful. I guess at 35 his bat is slowing down. So I was wrong about that. Time to start getting Martinez/Wall some PAs vs RHP in the meantime until AA can trade for someone.
It’s like I keep saying: the human race had a good run, but it’s time for some of the other species to take a crack at it. Lemurs, for instance. I bet they’d be great at smallball.
An echidna could outhit Sean Murphy right now.
Forget about an echidna; a hamster could out-hit Sean Murphy.
Yes, I’d rather watch Corky Miller play than Sean Murphy.
Murphy barreled a ball that was a home run in 29 of 30 MLB parks and also homered in Saturday’s game. I’m more concerned about Riley. He’s looked completely lost for a while now.
