  1. In their never-ending fight against Pure Evil, the Braves once again battle for truth, justice and National League baseball.

  2. I think the Marlins play Philly next so that would kind of stink for Gaby to appeal and play this weekend only to start serving against PHI.

    Seems like there’s no hope appealing for him anyway, he got off light. Not as though that’s always the determining factor on whether to appeal though.

  3. And Kiffin goes for two after his first TD as HC at USC.

    And fails. USC is in for a long ride. That is unless some other team offers him a job.

    FWIW, I was more than happy with Lane’s first game. The defense is obviously a problem but we knew that coming in. Either Monte will figure it out or not, it’s tough when you have basically no linebackers (at USC!) and four new starters in the secondary. Lane actually went for two after the first three TDs. I have no idea why.

    Barkley looked great, Ronald Johnson is a game changer, Tyler and Bradford are a good speed/power combination out of the backfield. Very pleased. Also very pleased that Virginia is the second game on the schedule this year and not Ohio State like last year.

    The Marlins again? I’ve lost track is this the 52nd or 53rd time we’ve played them this season?

    Andrew Miller’s ERA is over 6 in 18 Double A starts this year. Let’s beat him.

  19. Lane Kiffin is the Florida Marlins of college football head coaches, definitely PURE EVIL. I used to not hate USC, but they now take Tennessee’s spot as the most evil college football team on the planet. Congratulations USC on one of the worst hires of all time. You needed someone squeaky clean so you could get through the NCAA problems – you got just the opposite.

  21. The Vols had Lane Kiffin and Phil Fulmer before him. Like I said, now that Lane’s gone I don’t really hate UT. As a matter of fact, I’ve been nothing but impressed with Dickey – I think he’s a class act.

  24. @10 Unless it’s being attacked for political reasons, such as because someone doesn’t like the politics of the organizer, as was clearly the case. Therefore it clearly is.

  27. Not really. Last time I checked all your big name programs and coaches are pretty cocky. And if we’re referring to all of Florida as a swamp, I’d have to beg to differ living in St. Pete/Clearwater. We live where people vacation. Have you seen the chicks down here? It’s no South Beach, but it’ll do…

  33. I’ve been to Gainesville. Now I just wonder where the other end of the world is. I nominate Stuttgart, Arkansas, on a cold November evening.

    We’re also looking for the end of Derrek Lee’s ineptitude. Sadly, it appears to be limitless.

  36. Lee’s Atlanta line is 209/ 291/ 302, counting that DP. An eerily close match to Glaus’ 2nd-half numbers (196/ 291/ 304).

  84. I guess that patient team from early in the season doesn’t exist anymore. Chipper is gone. Yunel is gone. Glaus is not in there. New Guy swings at everything, Diaz, Ankiel and Omar don’t walk much.

    Just not the same team.

  94. Note to all contending NL teams:

    Bring up as many LHP as you can if you’re facing the Braves in the playoffs. Doesn’t matter how poorly they’re doing in the minors, they will make the Braves look like fools.

  96. Carlos Ruiz just lined into a DP with the bases loaded and a 3-1 count to end the 4th inning for the Phillies. Nice to know the Braves aren’t monopolizing all the Epic Fail… just most of it.

  97. I can’t believe how bad KK is, perhaps we’ve been spoiled by all of our good pitching this year but sheesh… I’d take a bad D Lowe start over this any day. Hopefully this is the last time Bobby uses him. I wonder if we could trade him to a Japanese team for something useful…. maybe a RHP reliever with a quirky delivery.

  105. I’m a little ticked at Lowe. Shouldn’t he have revealed his injury weeks ago so we would have time to figure out the rotation. I guess it wouldn’t change things though. THIS BLOWS!!

  107. So depressing that in the middle of a tight pennant race, this is the best we could throw out there.

  108. This should be the other way around. Miller couldn’t strike out minor league kids to save your, mine, or his life, yet he has no problem dismantling the Braves lineup.

  109. The saddest part of this game is that with some proper plate discipline, we could actually be in this thing.

  110. Wow.. Whose job is it to get the Braves a scouting report on this guy? Because that guy should be fired for gross negligence. You’d think Miller was Santan or something the way people are hacking away.

  117. All the Marlins announcers have talked about is how they hate Nyjer Morgan and how the Braves shouldn’t be allowed to call up so many players.

  122. Chip notes that the Braves’ starting pitchers this series are KK, JJ and MM. You don’t get that type of insightful analysis just anywhere.

  123. We face Josh Johnson tomorrow and the Phillies have Halladay going. I’m a little concerned about our lead.
