Should the Braves sign him for $80M/6yrs? I wouldn’t. I don’t really trust him. I also don’t think he’d take that deal, but what get much more from another team.

Sooooo. I saw a game on TBS for the first time in a long while yesterady. It was lovely how they paired Chip Caray and Tony Gwynn in the booth. I think they should take it a step further and just have some highly rated talk show host have his show aired on the audio channel while making no mention of the game whatsoever. Maybe Howard Stern could be made available??? Is it that hard to find someone who wants to take in a rather large salary to talk about baseball games that actually has some skill in doing so? Or do people actually prefer to have fools calling the game for them?

Going back to the Carey/Gwynn thing, I agree with Mr. Swings @ Everything. During one of the later innings they did nothing except talk about Ted WIlliams. I kept talking to my TV and asking it if it even knew a baseball game was actually being played at that moment. It was one of the most pathetic thing I have ever heard.
I am dying to know if TBS really thinks it can make more money by dropping the Braves and showing random teams featuring this duo. Because if that’s what they think, they are in a for a big surprise.

His primary options: Edgar Renteria, Jack Wilson, Miguel Tejada, and Rafael Furcal. The last two may be just wishful thinking for various reasons. And J.P. had this to say regarding the Wilson rumors back in July: “We have absolutely no interest in Jack Wilson. None.” Maybe a new GM in Pittsburgh can change his mind. Renteria seems the best choice; would the Braves trade him for Burnett? The oft-injured righty may opt out of his contract after 2008.

The problem that we have against Perez is that our lineup is way too agressive. Johnson always sits against him which makes it even worse. The man has trouble throwing strikes. Take some pitches and wait for him to groove one. The Braves philosophy seems to be to swing early and avoid having to hit with two strikes. It’s time to overhaul that mentality.
