Some notes from yesterday’s game at the Jake:
1.) I met a woman from Decatur, Alabama who was in the ‘Braves 400 Club’ and was the most insightful Braves fan I’ve ever met. I also wanted to adopt her as my grandma.
2.) Since they have failed to win anything in any sport at any time in the last five decades or so, Cleveland fans are incredibly bitter.
3.) If batting practice was a game, Scott Thorman would be NL MVP.
4.) Brian Snitker has failed to grasp the concept of baseball and “scoring position.”
5.) Grady Sizemore is Ben Savage’s doppelganger.
Thankfully this is the last day of the DH rule. Free Chipper Jones!
Andruw Jones and Jeff Francoeur=twin rally killers. They should never bat back-to-back again as far as I am concerned.
Pick your poison: Andruw Jones strikes out down by one run in the bottom of the ninth inning with bases loaded or Francouer meekly flies out on the first pitch in the same scenrio.

On the plus side, it looks like we’ll get to face Borowski, and Andruw is as far away as possible from being able to bat in the inning.
On the minus side, Kelly prevents us from having to score only twice. Just awful baserunning.

the plate get about 1/2 a foot wider that inning. i remember that happening during the braves glory days. some of those strikes were…well, not strikes.
Why Bobby either won’t bench him (for now) or drop him in the order, is BEYOND me?
How much more would the Braves be scoring right now if we could get both Willie Harris and Matt Diaz out there and sit Andruw’s expanding a– on the bench.

I think that is safe to say.
If Diaz had been up in that inning, it would likely be at least 5-4 now after a Diaz double.
Andruw needs to be benched. It’s just beyond words now.
Yeah, Alex, you can tell there are moments where even Skip wants to tell Chip to just shut up.
But Skip excusing Kelly’s baserunning blunder by saying his run doesn’t mean anything is unfortunately quite Chip-ish. I don’t want Skip to be senile, but it’s happening.
I think Willie has the speed to definitely play Center.
I’m more mad at KJ than Andruw right now.
I have no problem holding KJ at third with no outs and Renty & Chipper due. But you cannot have your head so far up your ass that you don’t score on Chipper’s ball to left. There is no excuse for that.
I agree completely with your second paragraph, ububba, but I can’t fathom being more disgusted with any ballplayer than I currently am with Andruw.
Stu…to be fair, I think we would all dumb it down (by default) having to sit next to eyebrows Chip for 3+ hours. It can have an effect–like osmosis.
Seriously, Skip and his wife should have laid off the booze during the Chip pregnancy. It may have helped.

I totally agree…Bobby has to look at the Phillies and Marlins winning a lot more and the Mets not winning as much as a way to keep the Braves in the race by making a few changes. It tarts with figuring out a way to get two of our hottest hitters, Diaz and Harris, in the lineup at the exact same time.
Benching Andruw, putting those 2 in the everyday lineup, and dropping Thor to 8th is the only way to get our best lineup.
Actually, scratch that…bench Thor and put Salty at 1st. When McCann needs a day off, Salty goes behind the plate.
Bottomline, Thor and Andruw are our two worst hitters, let’s get them out of the lineup, please.

For the record, I wouldn’t bench Andruw. If you want Diaz and Willie in the lineup, play Diaz at 1B.
Now dropping Andruw behind Frenchy to #7 (moving McCann and Frency up) may be something I’d consider.

Sickening. And you can definitely look at that black hole in the 4th spot in the lineup for too many lost opportunities, like the 8th. I am d-o-n-e with Andruw.
Davey…yes, 2 of 3 is nice, but after getting swept in Minny, a sweep was really needed.
Andruw is still our best center fielder, though Willie would be fine there. I’m just not enthused about replacing Andruw with Matt Diaz, who’s a fine role player, but nothing more.
It’s a long and deep slump, but it won’t last forever. Noted that he does look like shit right now.
Damn! Sweep would have been nice. Hope the BoSox don’t lay into us now.
Gotta plate the runners in the 8th with the heart of the order up.
Well, looks like we won’t have any more Elvis Costello for a while. That’s a shame.
