The second in a two-part series, “Videos in which someone is assaulted by a group of dwarfs”. They may be the same dwarfs from yesterday, I dunno. Anyway, I have no idea what is going on in this video and also have no idea what Peter Gabriel is singing about. Enjoy.

doesnt look like Buerhle will resign with the Sox. He wants a no trade clause, they dont want to give him one. Doesnt look like we’ll get him and resign him because JS doesnt give them either. I bet the Mets or Cards would

We could still get him and not resign him. The Braves need to get him or somebody similar to have a serious shot at the playoffs.
who needs Buehrle when we have CHUCKIE!
oh, and FREE SALTY
2-0 mets no outs, top 1
The Phillies’ pitcher, J.A. Happ, is making his major league debut today.
If he were pitching against us, he’d have a shutout at least into the 7th….
Mets have already hit 7 HRs in 2+ games in that Philly bandbox.
Looks like we’re gonna need another good one from Huddy tonight just to keep pace.
But I may not get a chance to watch, so we’ll probably get at least one touchdown.
Definitely the same dwarves
we needed to shock the braves’ monkey a couple of weeks ago
3-3. Howard just homered, and the Bad Sosa has come out to play. Mwa-ha-ha.
viva!
ububba,
From everything I’ve read over the past week or so, “SICKO” is a complete crock of sh**. From Wall Street Journal and New York Post editorials, to short CNN media reports.
http://www.humanevents.com/article.php?id=21248
I would show you a few more editorials or the story about Canadians hating the film, but more than one link per post requires Mac’s approval. Not trying to be political, but people who advocate more government get under my skin easily, and Moore wants the government to control the largest sector of the economy, the healthcare industry.
Not to get on a rant, Dan, but hogwash. Anyone taking cues from the WSJ editorial page isn’t firmly grounded in reality.
And on a slightly more pleasant note, it’s 5-3 Mets in the 6th. Thanks for nothing, Happ.
I don’t wanna get political on here either, but I would like to not talk about that tool Michael Moore anyway. The guy is an attention whore who hates America, and I can thing of about 10,000 things I would rather talk about than him.
all i’m gonna say is that the richest nation in the world owes it’s citizens access to “real” and affordable healthcare.
GO BRAVES!
beedee,
Why? Are you saying it’s an American citizen’s right to healthcare?
Here we go again:
ububba lays out the left-wing comment bait and then someone finally takes it.
For the finale, ububba will be the first to apologize and back down, and then act like he didn’t expect to change to thread into something political.
There are billions of pages on the web for you guys to discuss propaganda films.
rob,
if you like i’ll take this to the “peaceful politics” thread and discuss, but i’d rather focus my energy on cooking some dinner and watching the braves.
This conversation is going to become too political. You might as well stop now. Doesn’t Mac have a separate page for political discussions.
Go Braves!
@17
agreed, that’s it for me.
all i’m gonna say is that the richest nation in the world owes it’s citizens access to “real” and affordable healthcare.
Amen brother. We don’t even do it for our veterans much less our people. A great national shame.
Not to get on a rant, Dan, but hogwash. Anyone taking cues from the WSJ editorial page isn’t firmly grounded in reality.
On the mark with this too.
The guy is an attention whore who hates America,
But you don’t want to talk about him. Got it. I don’t want to discuss your post except to say unintelligible.
Oh and I know Mac will be here in two seconds to shut this down, but I couldn’t resist…
now the eff’n mets’ game has bounced my access to the pregame radio show. i hate the mets.
When the heck is Jorge Sosa going to do to the Mets what he did to the Braves? He’s back to being, for the most part, “Houdini” as Chip et al constantly called him last season.
Jorge Sosa was summoning the power of his 06 World Series ring to get through those five innings.
did i mention hate the mets
6-3 mets.
news flash the phillies suck.
and who is the guy on espn radio that sounds painfully like Lemke?
Not to get political (of course this is political—but apparently if you add such a disclaimer, it’s OK), but this:
Anyone taking cues from the WSJ editorial page isn’t firmly grounded in reality.
is hysterical. If you insert “Michael Moore” for “the WSJ editorial page”, now we’re talking.
And I would’ve taken this to the politics page, but it doesn’t exist right now.
why dont we substitute ESPN for WSJ and continue when there is a thread?
wow, finally heard someone gush over reyes and the mets more than chip…these espn guys are deffinately “fair and unbiased” 😉
Didn’t SiCKO get a good review from Fox News of all places?
I’m seeing it tomorrow night. Looking forward to it.
beedee (Pot),
Meet Kettle.
nice to meet you…let’s talk some ball.
nuth’n but love for my fellow braves’ fans.
Lineups:
Braves:
Harris lf
Renteria ss
CJones 3b
AJones cf
McCann c
Francoeur rf
Johnson 2b
Thorman 1b
Hudson p
Marlins:
Ramirez ss
Uggla 2b
Cabrera 3b
Jacobs 1b
Hermida rf
Borchard lf
Treanor c
Amezaga cf
Kim p
Our lineup’s the same as yesterday. On one hand, one might say it still makes no sense (ice-cold Andruw cleanup, KJ batting seventh, Thorman). On the other hand, they did score twelve runs last night, so why not?
The unfortunate thing about Sosa, is that he was pretty good for us for one year (yes, I know his numbers indicated that he was lucky); it was his second year, when we were counting on him, that he sucked.
That may well be the key: count on Sosa and he’ll let you down. But, if you don’t expect squat, he’ll go 13-3 (or some other ridiculous number). Look for him to suck mightly–next year.
stapler,
I’m adhering to the rules of this forum.
If you wanna see the flick, that’s on you. If you don’t, that’s on you, too.
I liked it a lot, but I didn’t offer any polemic and I wouldn’t do it here, out of respect to Mac’s wishes.
And that’s that.
yikes, ricky ledee ain’t winning any beauty contests. one too monay falls out of the ugly tree.
I think the rationale for tonight’s lineup is: “It’s Byung-Hyun Kim.”
monay* many
I’d prefer batting Johnson lead-off – or even second – and bumping everyone else down a rung.
Didn’t SiCKO get a good review from Fox News of all places?
It did. I saw it too, and enjoyed it. Obviously you shouldn’t take anything at face value (not just Moore flicks, but anything) but there is alot there to think on. Not that I didn’t already know that our nation’s medical care system is broken beyond repair.
If you don’t like to think, the multiplex is awash with other choices.
i agree stu. in june kim has averaged just over 4 innings per start with an ERA around 4. if we can get him out of there early and back into the bullpen we’ve got it made. if there is one thing i’d like to see the braves do tonight is score the guys on the base paths we’ve left way to many runners on base this month.
I go away for two hours and look what happens… Okay, take it to the politics thread. I’ll start.
Actually, something odd has happened to the pages and comments and comment boxes aren’t showing. Why didn’t anyone tell me? Sigh. Here, take it to Here.
when you have time would you work on the rant page too? it’s great to have a place to explode.
thanx mac
Man, yesterday was sweet. Braves won, and Ho-Ram tacked on a 2 run hit for my fantasy team. Let’s see some more of that today.
Mets just won, Phillies 1.5 back.
well the braves are making this pretty easy for him so far.
good job frenchy!
not good
hey, frenchenhouse
Willie was actually out, but I’ll take it.
On second thought, that other camera angle makes it a lot murkier.
Has anybody seen the bridge? Jorge Sosa pulled his hammy.
DL Thorman
I love Thorman. We need more big doofs.
JS prefers guys who lumber rather than run.
That there was some good lumbering.
I’ll give him a pass for this inning
I’ll leave it short: MOVE ANDRUW DOWN!!!
Also, play Salty instead of Thor.
That is all.
Let’s beat the fish.
Salty probably doesn’t make that play Thorman did to end the last inning to keep it a 1-0 game right now. I’m all for playing him more often, but Thorman is better defensively because he has played the position before.
Miggy is a good hitter,indeed.
Sure we’ve run hot for a few games now but everything considered I just do not understand, with the lack of quality baseball we’ve been playing, how we can afford to sit a guy who is probably one our top 3 hitters.
And when I said move Andruw down I meant in the lineup. Just to make that clear.
Good play Renteria!
Happy now?
No he should have started.
Move Andruw down? No!!! Move everyone else up.
Since when has Andruw not had “A Jones” on the back of his jersey? In that last shot he simply had “Jones.” Maybe he should stick the A back on it and see if that helps him break out of his slump any.
What a hitter…. Wow.
Since he lost the A game
I think Willie is actually a hero, today. I have no problem about it.
Bad call at third, by the way. Edgar came off the bag while the third baseman was still in contact.
I may make fun of Renty’s range at short…but the man is pure joy to watch at the plate.
Finally a little breathing room.
I think Druw just dipped below the Mendoza Line again.
that was a bad call, but i thought the tag beat edgar before he reached the base. had cabrera held the tag, edgar would have been out since he jumped off the bag. but i can’t complain. i like renteria more and more each game.
Some close calls have come our way this inning, but this is awesome. I love pitcher’s duels, but I love it more when the Braves just break out and crush the opponent.
Offensively he has been a great blessing for Atlanta. Far better than I ever anticipated.
I am starting to get tired of the Andruw .200 watch 2007. Can he at least get up to .207 or maybe even .210 so the watch can end? am i asking too much?
My bad for talking about the elephant in the room;) This inning has been great for us!
The difference in a good/great American League team versus a bad National League team is frighteningly big. Huge gap.
it’s cool. i’ve actually tried to stay away from the andruw hate, but this is getting a little absurd. it’s like watching a clip of his classic slumps over and over without end in sight. come on ‘druw!
I find myself suppressing all my ‘Druw frustrations from the years and it is starting to boil over a bit. I just don’t get it. I really expected this year to be a stellar year for him since it is the contract year. If you would have told me that he would have performed this embarrassingly for the first half of the season and that the Braves would almost be tied with the mut$, I would have said no way. I really am hoping that as the mut$ get back to full strength, Atlanta will find ‘Druw in the groove for the whole second half.
Joined this game late and with pleasure….its hard to believe that we looked so bad last week and I agree with Chief Nocahoma that it speaks volumes about who the Braves are playing….as a lifelong NL fan its embarassing….
B-mac robbed of the trip.
Not to say the AL isn’t loaded, but it really didn’t matter who Atlanta played the end of May to June. We were thrashed by everyone from the Nationals, Cubs, the Fish, etc. We were in a massive slump. It looks like we might be slowly getting back on track. Again, this isn’t to say that the AL isn’t the better league right now.
I am just glad that it is time for Wickmania…
Wick must not like pitching in Miami
I’m having a deja vu, lets hope wickman doesnt blow this one
I am strangely not worried at all about this situation. I trust Wickman.
He is doing a fine job of creating a save opportunity for himself.
Long term, do we think Raffy will be a starter or our closer?
I know he wants to start, but I wonder how it will turn out…
Wick must have Miami-o-phobia.
One down! Count it!
Throw a ball here, Wick.
In your face!
……
GAH!
I’m havin a bad case of deja vu
Maybe he’ll be our closer sooner rather than later…
gameday makes this more terrifying…
Ka-Li, Ka-Li….
Wow! Not what I was expecting in the ninth, but a win is a win…
Marlins hit the home run one baserunner too early, and we’ll never know, but the Glavenesque strike 2 call on Hanley Ramirez may have totally changed the course of that inning.
who is going to represent the braves in the all-star game?
Hudson, Smoltz, Chipper & Renteria need a few days off. Let Soriana go.
Smitty, duh.
