The Braves don’t really suck. They’re just mediocre which won’t be enough to get to the playoffs unless a few players turn it up a notch in the second half and Chipper comes back soon and stays in the lineup the rest of the year.
It’s an odd time to be a Braves fan. I’m not conceding that we won’t make the playoffs, but for soooo long the team has either been an utter disaster or an elite division winner with little to nothing in between. I think Andruw needs to be traded before we lose him for nothing.
we have been taking steps in the right direction personnel-wise and if we can get a legit 3rd starter our fortunes will reverse pretty quickly. andruw will come around and chipper will come back. in the meantime every team in the country has pretty much the same issues we do, so stop whining, man up and come with it…that goes for the team and the fans both.
It ain’t easy to be a Mets fan lately either. Anyone see that inning the other day with no outs and runners on second and third? Not only did the Mets not score and lose the game, but Endy Chavez hurt himself running to first. The stadium practically imploded.
I have a feeling that the team will go on a tear when Chipper’s back. The whole line-up is in limbo without him. Hopefully we’ll get him back for some if not all of these inter-league series.

I can understand voting the we May suck, but I can’t understand voting that we actually do suck. The Royals suck, we’re mediocre w/ upside, and the Red Sox do not suck.
Anybody else following the draft notice that Toronto passed on taking a player in the 31st round, ending their draft? By the 40th round, 3 other teams had finished, but the 26 other teams are currently still going in the 44th round, and will presumably continue until the 50th, or at least the late 40s. Just strikes me as kind of odd that the Jays would be content with drafting 15-20 less players than most other teams, although maybe this is common and I just haven’t followed the draft enough to know.
With the new drafting rules (short deadline to sign and no draft-and-follow) there was speculation a lot of teams might fall short. There are only about 25 slots open anyway (I think). The Jays might have already signed a lot of their mid-round players so didn’t need many others. Or they could be heavily invested in Latin American players.
salty gets another start sending one of our best hitters to the bench and keeping our worst (thorn) in the lineup. geez louise, just make the change already. it doesnt help the lineup out when you substitute a good hitter for a good hitter.
Think this was JS’s plan when we traded Estrada to the DBacks? Trade for essentially one starter because Vulture has to come in and clean up Cormier’s mess?
Chip and Joe are beyond their usual awful tonight–WTF with all the talk about tater tots. Of course, Cormier’s is still awful so maybe they are onto something with the cherry limeade chatter.
Looks like Buddy Carlyle is going to need a plane ticket from Richmond to Atlanta.
Correct me if i’m wrong but I can remember a couple days ago many people begging for Salty behind the plate because of his “cannon of an arm” and huge defensive advantage over McCann. Where ya at now?
I muted the tv and am using Skip and Pete for audio. I just couldn’t take any more of Dumb (Andrew needs to go to right more) and Dumber (watch me mooch a tater tot).
WTF….would you throw the ball at Soriano….hit that idiot and push him back. I don’t understand why the heck people don’t get tough and push people off the freakin’ plate.
Even before Thorman got called up last year, I have said Thorman and Adam are amazingly similar in terms of their long adjustment period after promotion to a higher level. I hope Thorman will have a big second half like Adam did…if Salty has not overtaken first base by then…
can’t wait to see the new and interesting ways that sturzes will sink the braves come back hopes.
did i mention i hate the cubs and their low life fans.
btw, I’m not ready to completely give up on Thorman (getting closer with every limp pop up) but I think he needs to pay a return visit to Richmond (if he has options left) or platoon
Please let our offense wake up…Please!?
The Braves don’t really suck. They’re just mediocre which won’t be enough to get to the playoffs unless a few players turn it up a notch in the second half and Chipper comes back soon and stays in the lineup the rest of the year.
Oh man, this season is over.

Whole lotta right-handed pitchers…
Funny thing…I just read a list of names of a bunch of people that I don’t know anything about. The internet is such a great time waster.
JoshQ,
Yeah, well I one upped you, and wrote a list of names of a bunch of people that I don’t know anything about…hahha
TJ Wohlever? “Wohlever” would be a great name for a Braves reliever.
Actually, I think that the team made many of its lower picks just for potential comedic value. Brett Butts, I’d like for you to meet Chris Moon.
I can understand voting the we May suck, but I can’t understand voting that we actually do suck. The Royals suck, we’re mediocre w/ upside, and the Red Sox do not suck.

kj
escargot
renty
druw
frenchy
diaz
salty
thorn
cornier
I see that Andruw is no longer “slumpy.”
Cubbies are making Chip very happy these days.
Awesome.
Cormier wastes no time.
Nice start, Cormier, you yutz.
Will somebody please throw at Soriano already?
YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!1
I never had much hope on Cormier….
Villareal is our 3rd inning guy so he obviously can’t start.
Nice start guys!!!
What is the matter with McCann? All these passed balls.
Joe, I don’t care a damn thing about what happened in spring training.
Thats not McCann dumb ass
That was Saltalamacchia.
It’s not McCann behind the plate tongiht.
I hate you and your defunct athletic department, Mal Moore.
How does Joe dismiss Wins, but equate a good ST ERA with success?
Sorry. Salty must have just been surprised that someone swung at one of Cormier’s meatballs and missed.
Remember, Cormier has no problem facing AAA hitters.
MEMO TO JS: Trade Salty for some top notch SP SOON!!!
We’re only 3.5 out but imagine what we would have been if we were playing decent… 1st place!
Did DeRosa ever hit a grand slam for us? Because I’m expecting #2 against us right here.
Trade Salty? Why don’t the BRaves trade McCann and Frenchy as well?
Yeah, Chip, when you’re going up against a tough pitcher, you really want to replace Derrek Lee with Mark DeRosa.
Shadings of last game in Chicago…..ugh
We really, really, really need another dependable starter.
kc, if we aren’t going to play him at 1B what is the point of keeping him if we can get a number one or two starter for him???
No, DeRosa never hit a grand slam in Atlanta. And no, Cormier still can’t find the strike zone.
I can’t believe I am saying this but…hey Redman pitched better than Cormier!!!
Cox finally acknowledges the inevitable and has Villareal warming up.
It takes Bobby forever to make a decision like putting Salty full-time at first base.
Cormier can’t even make a decent throw to home.
I think Cox will tie the ejection record tonight.
Think this was JS’s plan when we traded Estrada to the DBacks? Trade for essentially one starter because Vulture has to come in and clean up Cormier’s mess?
but if he’s NOT going to use him Trade him for something that is very valuable.. I am all for keeping him if he moves to 1B…
hasnt he already tied it?
Oh, I remember this ump from spring training…
STRIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK!!!
New poll.
If the Braves win, remember that mess Cormier got out of.
Idiot!
I love your humor Mac.
i dont want salty traded. try everything you can to make him fit at 1st. if it doesnt work, then explore options.
Oh boy…another skinny Cubs lefty…
If that’s not a balk, I don’t know what is. But then again, I’ve never known what a balk is.
Come to think of it, I should have gone with “Drip” or “Dip”.
Mac, I don’t think the umps know either.
You know what a balk is, Mac: whatever Bob Davidson thinks it is.
I may start calling him Drip anyway.
I was just going to nominate “Dip” Mac…but ya beat me to it.
You know, if they aren’t going to play Saltalamacchia at first, how about we use Diaz there and play Fast Willie every day?
Anyone ever seen Francoeur’s fiancee’s webpage?
http://cmm24.myweb.uga.edu/index.html
I don’t think Willie can hit lefties…
But Thorman can’t hit them either.
Now I see your point Mac!!!
Thorman can’t hit lefties or righties..
Cormier really is making me miss Redman.
Oh, for chrissake…
But Soriano can hit Cormier…that’s for sure
Don’t ever throw strikes to Soriano, I thought I have said enough of that last year…
This is getting old, we need pitching help!!!
Cormier hasn’t been inconsistent, you drip. Inconsistent implies that he was good at some point. Cormier has been extremely consistent so far.
Please, Bobby, don’t take off your pants.
Nice play, Yunel.
He;s been Redman’esque in his consistency..
See…Bobby! Even his flyouts are exciting!
Whereas Thor’s groundouts are very boring.
Thor!…why the f$%@ are you getting mad…you dumbass, you swung at that horrible pitch.
Oh and…eh
Chip and Joe are beyond their usual awful tonight–WTF with all the talk about tater tots. Of course, Cormier’s is still awful so maybe they are onto something with the cherry limeade chatter.
Looks like Buddy Carlyle is going to need a plane ticket from Richmond to Atlanta.
Correct me if i’m wrong but I can remember a couple days ago many people begging for Salty behind the plate because of his “cannon of an arm” and huge defensive advantage over McCann. Where ya at now?
Don’t know if this was mentioned already BUT, you have got to be shitting me!
javascript:launchGameday(‘2007_06_08_nynmlb_detmlb_1’)
Unkind schedule for the METS???? AHAHAHAHAH seriously. WTF
Just realized that was a javascript link.
Anyways, on the front page of mlb.com the headline says
Beginning with Tigers, schedule unkind to Mets
Cormier is unkind to my stomach.
Now this is scintillating television.
With 8 pitchers in the pen–6 of whom did not pitch yesterday–why no PH for Cormier? Of course 8 relievers means fewer players available on the bench.
I muted the tv and am using Skip and Pete for audio. I just couldn’t take any more of Dumb (Andrew needs to go to right more) and Dumber (watch me mooch a tater tot).
Yunel!
Cormier=Soriano’s batting practice pitcher
Why do all the Braves’ pitchers have an irresistable urge to throw Soriano belt-high fastballs?
Stop throwing him strikes. WTF?
Seriously, why was he throwing anything even close to the plate? I don’t want to see Cormier in a Braves uniform ever again.
WTF….would you throw the ball at Soriano….hit that idiot and push him back. I don’t understand why the heck people don’t get tough and push people off the freakin’ plate.
Buddy Carlyle just purchased his plane ticket to Atlanta …
I figure Bobby is trying to see if Soriano can set a record.
Whoever is pitching to Alfonso Soriano next needs to bean the living crap out of him.
That’s 8 HR allowed by Cormier in 7.2 innings this season, and that’s all Cox can take.
Carlyle just caught a cab to the airport …
Let’s hope Skip is right when he says “That’s going to be all for Cormier …”
Goodnight Lance, see you in Richmond.
LAUGH, 4 homers.
Whatever happened to Travis Smith? At least he kinda looked like Maddux and worked quick.
I kinda feel bad for him…….but he obviously isn’t healthy/right and needs to be back in Richmond with Carlyle back up here.
what a beautiful pitch…this guy has the stuff of legends
If Buddy Carlyle is our answer I’m really worried!!!
It’s pretty amazing that with 6 BBs and 4 HRs, all 4 of them have been solo shots.
Carlyle can’t come back yet unless someone goes on the DL. With, I dunno… maybe “Inability to pitch”?
dont worry guys – i bet Cormier just has Soriano (any maybe the rest of the Cubs) on his fantasy team
MS@E,
If I remember correctly, after his start against Arizona last year, we tried to send him back to the minors and he declined ans was released.
Oops, forgot it does that whenever you do “@”…oh well.
One day after sweeping the Mets, the Phillies have allowed a 6 spot versus the Royal Royals.
Lance Cormier’s pitching makes me wonder if it’s legal to position oneself in the outfield bleachers?
i’ll take a guy who pitches good every other game over mr.batting practice any day.
c’mon matt!
Mac, I’m aware that there are rules–10 days I think–about bring players back from the minors. My Carlyle posts are primarily for fun …
i can’t believe they’re gonna let him pitch to soriano
Bobby’s a glutton for punishment apparently.
another fisted comment…drink boys
More pathetic hitting from Thorman. On the bright side–another run or two for the Cubs and Salty can get some practice at 1B.
Meanwhile, Kim Jong-Il threw 8 shutout innings against the Tigers tonight and lowered his ERA to 2.64.
Just in case anybody wasn’t depressed enough.
what exactly si it gonna take for the braves to pull their head out of the ass and start playing some ball. this is just sad.
moylan has gotten one pitch over the plate
make that 2
but none over the outfield wall
Now official: Cormier delenda est.
I blame Terry for not helping them adjust quicker. Fire Terry so that the public opinion may be appeased!
andruw is so bored he didn’t realize he was walked…wake up man.
Did Cormier actually LOWER his era tonight??
i hate chip …soriano is so eff’n great, let’s throw a parade!
i hate chip …soriano is so eff’n great, let’s throw a parade!
yuck … looks like a little league team
woof
pass the tater tots and cherry limeade–better yet, it’s time to drink the Kool-Aid
at least Thorman hit this one fair, but it still didn’t get out of the infield
he swung at an inside shoulder high ball, of-course he was jammed
great, send in baby wick to put this game on ice!
I have been in depress mood since the Gonzo injury, and I can’t believe I am still in depress mood now…
believe it.
Even before Thorman got called up last year, I have said Thorman and Adam are amazingly similar in terms of their long adjustment period after promotion to a higher level. I hope Thorman will have a big second half like Adam did…if Salty has not overtaken first base by then…
can’t wait to see the new and interesting ways that sturzes will sink the braves come back hopes.
did i mention i hate the cubs and their low life fans.
oh, and now little petey is in to save the day.
just what we need–here comes Pete Orr
btw, I’m not ready to completely give up on Thorman (getting closer with every limp pop up) but I think he needs to pay a return visit to Richmond (if he has options left) or platoon
baby wick is one of the more underrated names out there
If Soriano hits another homer, Chip will soil himself
This sucks.
chip treats objects like women, man
Thorman sucks at everything.
make this this stop please…i want to get off this ride!
nice buckner move.
I go take a whizz and come back to an E-3 … sheesh.
This concerns me. If Thor chooses now to slide into total uselessness, we don’t exactly have a ready backup.
The Pirates can have Lillibridge back. We don’t need him. I want Roachy.
Paronto hurt … Carlyle just cleared security at the airport
speaking of SS…why did the braves draft the kid from GT when we’re leg deep in that position?
good one matt
fittingly it ends with a Thorman POP UP
hopefully hudson will get some help tomorrow
I don’t want Adam back.
Exactly, KC. LaRoche stinks and would only encourage us not to improve the position. He is a swirling mass of sub-mediocrity. Ugh.
