ESPN.com – MLB – Box Score – Braves at Marlins

Another good start for Tim Hudson, and the Braves beat up on Scott Olsen and coasted from there. After getting a run in the first when Renteria doubled home Orr (Marcus has an apparently minor injury). Hudson gave it back in the bottom of the inning on your standard single-wild pitch-steal of third-groundout, but didn’t allow another hit until the sixth.

Meanwhile, the Braves opened it up in the second. Adam “Platoon, Hell” LaRoche homered in Diaz to make it 3-1, and Chipper hit a two-run triple that just missed clearing that ridiculous wall. Olson left after Andruw walked, and the Braves put it on cruise control. They got one more run with Orr singling in LaRoche in the sixth.

There was a scary moment in the eighth when home plate umpire Jerry Layne was hit on the head by a broken Marlins bat. The game was delayed for thirteen minutes, and Hudson didn’t return after the delay. These thin-handled bats are a menace and should be outlawed. Baez finished the inning and Wickman pitched the ninth for the Atlanta Save.

LaRoche, Orr, and Renteria all had three hits. Everyone had one but Andruw (who was robbed in the first by a terrible umpiring call) and Francoeur (who sucks). Hudson allowed just four hits in all and two walks. He only struck out one, but I’ll take it.
