You ever feel like someone has sliced open your chest and ripped out your heart? I do when I watch the Braves lose like they have the last two games. Oh, and this recap had its title before I found out about Tyler Yates’ middle name.
title suits the braves situation with Andruw as well…DOOM

Hopefully checking out the D-Rays – Red Sox game at the Trop if my girlfriend is up for it. I’ll be roaming around so odds are anyone who knows my appearance still won’t see me. Go Braves!.. still!

Then again, can Andruw possibly stay mad the rest of the season?

Mac, you can not possibly describe my feeling any better than you have with the above question.

We chose our bullpen … poorly.
1914 Update:
NY Giants 55-38 (–)
Chicago Cybs 53-45 (4.5 GB)
St. Louis Cardinals 53-47 (5.5)
Boston Braves 49-45 (6.5) Cincinnati Reds 47-51 (10.5)
Philadelphia Phillies 45-50 (11)
Brooklyn Robins 40-52 (14.5)
Pittsburgh Pirates 40-54 (15.5)
Today’s Game:
Pitts 003 010 000 0 – 4 9 3 LP- Strand
Bost 200 000 200 1 – 5 8 1 WP- Adams
A Rabbit Maranville home run, one of just four he would hit on the season, with two out in the 10th wins the Braves’ ninth straight. The Braves are now 15-4 against the Pirates on the season, easily their best record against any team. In the FL, Baltimore has caught up with the Whales for first place.

I didn’t think that priest guy had to slice open your chest. I thought he just did it through the chest. o_O
Shiell won’t be missed. But in his defense, he was put in a situation where he wasn’t supposed to be. There was a reason the guy was pitching independant ball 2 months ago…and we saw why sadly..
Still didn’t hear who the anoninous team is that tried to get andruw..

“Wayne Franklin (born March 9, 1974 in Wilmington, Delaware) is an American baseball pitcher for the Richmond Braves. He previously played for the Houston Astros (2000-2001), Milwaukee Brewers (2001-2003), San Francisco Giants (2004), and New York Yankees.
Prior to the 2004 season, Franklin was a starting pitcher. As a starter for the Brewers in 2003, he allowed more home runs than any pitcher in the major leagues.”
Same old story — take a first inning lead, but give it up an inning or two later

I’m not laugh at you but just think you make a drama out of it. I’m sure you understand well what I’m saying. Hahaha. I think just reguler season. I won’t be disapointed.

stupid folks in MS…. start earlier every year! it’s weird but then again it’s still high school too… I’ll be out of there after this year though! Thank God!
Smart play by Frenchie, he dives and misses its 5-2 runner on third.

Miranda

they normally start a week or so after us and get out about 2 weeks or so before us

How the hell do the Braves keep doing this? Bases loaded no outs, bases loaded one out, runner on third one outs, second and third one out and they never score. I can’t stand this.
RISP for this series has been pathetic, in fact so sickening mere word do not describe .30 or .002 th Braves are batting. I know that isn’t the correct number, who cares?
They suck, no clutch hitting, none.
Dan

Here is Majewski again with the heart of the Braves’ order up. Can the Braves please do something?
And Dunn is “country strong”, the guy look like some farm freak who got his muscles wearing overalls picking up hogs and chunking’em in the slaughter wagon.
I find that I’m kind of rooting against Francoeur getting walks. I mean, how often do you see history? But how in the world do you swing at that pitch 3-0?
2 runners on, 2 out, 3-0 count 99.999% time the batter at the plate will take the 4th pitch, that .0001 percent that swing at it is named Jeff Francoeur.
It’s so great to have a reliable closer. Even after the error, you thought he was going to still shut him down, instead of witnessing the beginning of the end.

Much like myself, our bullpen wakes up drenched in mediocraty.
Just heard on the radio, Jason Shiell down…Wayne Franklin up.
Didn’t know that.
“Jason Shiell down…Wayne Franklin up.”
That will probably be the last of Shiell in an Atlanta Braves’ uniform.
Is Wayne Franklin any good?
any news of who tried to get andruw through waivers? i am glad to see schiell gone. i had absolutely no confidence in a “w” with him on the hill.
normal starting lineup with langerhans in left and batting 8th.

Oh great, another has-been/never-was like Lance Cormier and Jason Shiell. Do we have no stud rookies?
Bobby Cox on the radio today : ” Our pitching hasn’t been good, but it sure hasn’t been bad here..”
Lance Cormier isn’t quite a has-been/never-was. He is only 25.
And no, we don’t have anymore stud rookies. They all came last year. They’re sophomores now.
Chipper’s interview on TBS with SImpson was revealing in the sense that he actually said what every fan has been thinking.
On ATL playoff chances: “Before these last 3 games, I’d say our chances were OK. But these last 3 games have been…devastating.”
Yup.
Smoltz is going against somebody with a 2-5 record and an ERA over 7.00. Can the Braves actually win this one?
For those of you who follow old ballplayers, former Tiger submarine-style pitcher Eldon Auker died. He made it to 95.
http://www.nytimes.com/2006/08/05/sports/baseball/05auker.html?_r=1&ref=obituaries&oref=slogin

alright gilly! c’mon guys!
Holy sh**!
WHAT???
When it rains it pours.
o man……
f’ing idiot
you know… NOTHING is going our way lately!!!!
Great job by the third base coach. Way to keep on top of the situation.
Too much metaphor for me…
RIP~Braves’ Rally
Died 6th inning on 08/06/2006
c’mon Andruw!!
that was not a strike!
strike 2?
yea…
alright… bases loaded now! c’mon guys!
Looks like the Gameday stringers just got up and left after Aybar was called out.
That should have been a run in and bases loaded with no outs still. That home cooking is obvious.
Ugh! McCann poping up with bases loaded AGAIN.
c’mon Jeffrey! pick up Brian!
that was pretty funny… jeff had NO idea where the ball went!
OMG… we just can’t do anything lately
at least he didn’t K
aaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrggggggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Web Gem by Smoltz…..
Anyone else notice Francoeur is starting to think he pops up everything too?
McCann needs to start looking up also.
Leaders for the Doghouse: Aybar, McCann, Francoeur. Leaning Aybar. Marcus should strangle him.
Aybar did something I didn’t think was possible in Little League.
Aybar just got in the doghouse.
Well, you better get used to it. This team sucks, and it shows in situations like that.
Can we have a group picture?
Rochy! alright keep it goin guys!
Aybar for doghouse (unless he hits a homerun that ties the game on give the Braves the lead.)
The next is Rochey. Why does Francoeur out in front of him? Do you have any idea, Francoeur?
Tony Sr. is liar and shouldn’t be in the HOF.
See TPJ can hit but he’s “trying” so hard in the minors things are 0-1 before they even start because he’s “trying” hard….ehhh
TPJ has no power, can’t hit vs crappy pitching in the minors, against MJ pitching he has sucked.
Willy Aybar has a chance to redeem himself.
Aybar is in the doghouse.
Clearly Aybar heard you guys complaining about how bad the Braves are with the bases loaded and was doing his best to prevent it.
Who misses me?
Hudson is trying to scan Aybar’s brain!
Come on Renteria. Please ONE clutch hit? Just ONE!
Bases Loaded again, depsite Aybar’s best efforts.
Alright! Majewski is pitching, we have a chance.
Go Edgar!
It’s Majewski. Come on.
That was disgusting.
*!*#$!@$(*@!_%$~!
A guy with a 10.00+ ERA got out of a jam, Braves the reason.
We need a bigger doghouse.
How about the GM for the doghouse?
How about the entire organization in the doghouse?
When did Gary Majewski come the Reds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!@-@
When did McBride get so good?
RISP for this series has been pathetic, in fact so sickening mere word do not describe .30 or .002 th Braves are batting. I know that isn’t the correct number, who cares?
They suck, no clutch hitting, none.
Here is Majewski again with the heart of the Braves’ order up. Can the Braves please do something?
Willy makes his first “Brave”-like play of the year, he misses second base on the way to third.
Awesome. I hope to see more in the future….bleeechhh
c’mon Brian!
McCann can tie it up.
Francoeur, here is your chance.
YES!! okay…now we have 2 on again… c’mon Jeff!
Base hit, 2 on, nobody out. Bases Loaded failure coming….
NOPE GAME TIES!!!!!! TRIPLE FRANCOEUR!!!!!
WHY NOT DO THAT EARLIER!!!!????????
I did not see that coming.
Holy crap.
YESSSSS!
YES!!! BRIAN JUST SCORED ON THAT! WOOHOO!!
HOORAY! WTG Jeffrey!
TIED!
Clutch hit, I did not see that coming.
Will there be a doghouse if the Braves win?
A chance at the lead??? Wow that seems impossible, but a broken clock is right twice a day.
Our consistent offense Laroche at the plate.
There should be a doghousejsut because AYBAR did soemthign so stupid, it’s beyond forgivable.
OMG.. are we leading? for a few minutes maybe?
Laroche, sac.
Braves lead.
Adam LaRoche’s new nickname, that I just thought up: The Braves Clipper.
How do you guys like it?
Is Yates goign to pitch today????
BAEZ AND WICKMAN!!!!!!!
The SERIAL MURDERER AND THE MORBIDLY OBESE GUY!!!!!!
Yea, I like what I’m starting to see.
Bring in talented pitchers.
Yippeee!
WOOHOO!!! DIAZ!!! WTG!!!
HOME RUN!!!! DIAZ!!!!!!!
I love you Diaz….and Majewski.
Sweet! I don’t know if we deserve to win this game, but I hope we do!
I bet Reds fans feel about Gary Majewski the way we feel about Tyler Yates. Or even Reitsma. They can have Reitsma back if they’d like.
Yay!
Good thing they traded away Lopez and Kearns.
🙂
Want to watch something worth a crap?
Baez is coming in. Before Baez I got to see the set-up guy be Kolb, CR, Sosa, and a host of others.
Now I don’t have to cringe when the bullpen door opens.
1 out.
Pete Van Wieren is making a good point: the Colorado Rockies have a much, much better pitching staff than we do.
2 out.
I am so sick of that “Adam Dunn is country strong” line.
3 out.
That was an AWESOME strike 3!
Nice.
It’s time for Wickmania. Luck for Wickman he probably won’t see Adam Dunn.
Baez is a freaking machine.
3 pitches, got out Dunn.
Thats how you do it Kolb…
Don’t go away Majewski 😀
Now all we have to do is stop losing more games than we win, and we’ll have a chance to finish the year above .500.
WOW!!! What a NASTY pitch that was!!!!!
Wickman gets the bottom of the order.
We are going to win this game.
And Dunn is “country strong”, the guy look like some farm freak who got his muscles wearing overalls picking up hogs and chunking’em in the slaughter wagon.
Wickmania is alive!!!
Ice-House makes everyhting better in the 8th and 9th, so much better.
Marcus Giles has his eight game hitting streak die. That really doesn’t seem fair.
Lets see if Jeff can widen the lead.
“Marcus Giles has his eight game hitting streak die. That really doesn’t seem fair.”
Having Marcus out there doens’t seem fair, someone get him some stilleto’s please….
Why does he swing 3-0? Stupid.
He can’t catch up to heat outside.
3-0 another out for Jeff.
naw…. he was SAFE!
Boy, that Phillips kid is fun to watch.
Jeff Francoeur was safe. Boo!
WICKMANIA!!!!!!
1 OUT, SCORCHER.
alright 1 down….
Okay that was an error.
Crap.
oh man….
that wasn’t good
Double Play.
Postgame as soon as Rich hits into a 6-4-3.
Mac~~~~ I wish put Francoeur in the doghouse forever!!!please!!!!!!
alright… 2 down
2 Outs.
With that strikeout, Wickman now has a 2-to-1 strikeout-to-walk ratio.
3 Outs. STRIKEOUT!!!!
WICKMANIA!!! CATCH THE FEVER
WE WIN!!! WOOHOO!
Yes!
Atta boy Wicky.
Good job Braves! Woohoo!
3-3 road trip, not bad.
Now try to WIN AT HOME.
It’s so great to have a reliable closer. Even after the error, you thought he was going to still shut him down, instead of witnessing the beginning of the end.
Having a professional closer is so nice.
You know, Bob Wickman has been exactly as advertised. That’s fairly remarkable.
Baez and Wickman deserve not the doghouse but some distinguished honor that goes to good Braves who don’t suck.
Mental toughness and accurate pitching go a long way.
Well said Alex R. I wasn’t sure what we were getting in Wickman, but I wish we’d had him all year.
Well there is still a heart beat doctor.
