Technically the Marlins are located in Fort Lauderdale, but very little interesting happens in Broward County (between hurricanes, anyway). That is the whole reason there is a Broward County.

Who would have thought that at the beginning of the year, that with our $80 million payroll we would only be 1 1/2 ahead of the Marlins and their $15 million payroll on July 25th ??? You gotta give Girardi a lot of credit, they certainly haven’t rolled over for anybody this year.
Oh and while we’re bitching at MLB.TV why don’t they show the graphics anymore ???? It’s frustrating never knowing what the count is among other things. It’s weird, one night Turner South will have the graphics up and then the next Turner South game they won’t and they never do with TBS or FSN games. Awfully frustrating considering how great of a product they would have if they just fixed a couple of things.

Also, why I’m talking about things that irritating me today, why is Joe Mauer getting so much run compared to Mac. Their numbers are very similar and I haven’t seen Mac mentioned on ESPN as “having one of the greatest hitting seasons by a young catcher ever,” etc. I know this was covered on a previous thread from a little bit ago on John Sickels’ page, but the last couple of days it has really picked up steam, I guess because the Twins have been so hot lately.
Mauer has thrown out 15 of 41 would be basestealers (36.6 %)
McCann has thrown out 13 of 42 (31 %)
And we all know that Mac has been playing hurt pretty much all year and putting up those numbers.

I met Hugh when my brother was at UGA and I was visiting as a High schooler…a nice guy in fact, Tubby Smith was the coach the 2 years I coevred hoops…also a super nice guy.
Who would have thought that at the beginning of the year, that with our $80 million payroll we would only be 1 1/2 ahead of the Marlins and their $15 million payroll on July 25th ??? You gotta give Girardi a lot of credit, they certainly haven’t rolled over for anybody this year.
Come on Chuckie…
Delgado vs. LaRoche.
Yeah, I was the cool one.
here it is:

Oh and while we’re bitching at MLB.TV why don’t they show the graphics anymore ???? It’s frustrating never knowing what the count is among other things. It’s weird, one night Turner South will have the graphics up and then the next Turner South game they won’t and they never do with TBS or FSN games. Awfully frustrating considering how great of a product they would have if they just fixed a couple of things.
Send them an email jj3bagger
Yes, got out of that jam.
jj3bagger, yeah, MLB.TV has been inconsistent in showing graphics…some games it’s on, and some games it’s off. It is quite frustrating.
Way to get out of that jam
There is a single BMAC.
I am not sure out back ups can win another one in a row
If Chuckie can hold the fort the rest of the night, we can come back.
Yea it’s only 1 run.
Being in the midwest I only get to watch the games on TBS or ESPN. This week I thought of a way to watch/listen to the games.
I have Braves Journal, ESPN Gamecast, and the radio broadcast all up on my pc. It’s not like watching on tv, but it’s better then nothing.
Anyone heard anything on when Andruw will start playing again? I know Chipper wouldn’t be back until the Mets series.
Yeah dans,
YOu can get on here and it looks like we are down by ten and then you check gamecast and we are winning 10-1!
ha ha ha!
Dans, I live in St.Louis and I just went a week without power so I am just happy to watch the Yahoo gamechannel. But I know how you feel.
Re: Harold Reynolds
I didn’t love him but liked him far better then Kruk and Brantley.
Jay10,
I want you to know sorry I am that you are forced to share the same air as an a–hole like LaRussa.
Tino Martinez struggles to get out a complete sentence. It’s annoying and kinda funny.
The radio is behind the gamecast ( by about 2 pitches), I thought it would be the other way around.
Thanks Alex,
When I go to the games it seems like I always sit next to the drunkest, loudest cardinal fans. And the cardinal broadcasters kiss so much ass its not even funny.
I hpoe James can keep fooling them until our bats wake up.
Mauer .380/.453/.540/.993 8 HRs, 54 RBI, 324 ABs
McCann .345/.404/.546/.950 11 HRs, 43 RBI, 238 ABs
Mauer has thrown out 15 of 41 would be basestealers (36.6 %)
McCann has thrown out 13 of 42 (31 %)
And we all know that Mac has been playing hurt pretty much all year and putting up those numbers.
Sorry that I’ve been kinda quiet. Glavine and Zambbrano have really getting beaten up so far, including a 3-run double by Henry Blanco. 6-4 Cubs in the 3rd.
I remember visiting the old Busch Stadium back in 1990 and being enthused that the Braves were in second place. Ah, the good old days.
Because he is a Brave and it is ESPN.
And he’s a year younger.
I enjoyed the old Busch Stadium, I’ve only been to two pro stadium in my short life but I will be going to Tampa for a week and I got great tickets for the D-Rays and BoSox game.(I have also been to Wrigley field.)
The Old Busch had a batting cage simulation which you could attempt to hit against real pitchers.( I went 2-10 against John Smoltz)
This Ross fellow is starting to annoy me.
Damn you Cody Ross.
Why can’t Chuckie get out 4,5,6 hitters.
Ross is out of line again, looks like someone needs to call Vulture.
Yeah, bust his lip again.
We need a triple play now.
He just told him, 3 K’s or back to Richmond.
Nice, thank goodness.
I’m freakin out…Who is Cody Ross?
allright dp…now one more
thats a pseudo triple play
I’ll take a feilder’s choice, not Sanchez needs to hit into a DP.
Well done, Chuck, but please try to avoid that “Sosa vibe” in the future.
Yes!!! I guess I kinda called it.
that was Sosa like
Well 05 Sosa.
contemporary sosa gives up a 3-run HR and then follows that with a solo shot for the pseudo grand slam
ok, now it appears Chipper will be back tomorrow and Andruw will be out until the Mets series…this has been reported on the MLB.com…
http://atlanta.braves.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/article.jsp?ymd=20060725&content_id=1574812&vkey=news_atl&fext=.jsp&c_id=atl
Here is the link.
Nice. Got Cabrera to K.
Now today’s arch enemy.
Chuckie finally got Ross out!!!
Woohoo, Ross didn’t homer again!
Yes.
BTW,
Cubbies blowing it against the Mets. 6-5 1out in the 5th.
Nevermind, DP ends the inning.
Cubs 6
Mets 5
Never seen Adam fired up so much!
I think over the past couple of weeks he is a whole new man.
Yeah…was a good pitch too, not sure what he had to argue there.
Huckleberry gets tossed! lol
Way to show some emotion Huck!
LaRoche ejected. Ball and strike argument, I take it?
WHo’s going to replace him? o.o
Really? Grst, that looks off the plate to me.
And then my boy goes and makes a base running error, sigh.
Is Bobby out there arguing to?
Thorman to first and Diaz to left.
Well, I thought it was there, kc. But then again, I’m a pitcher, so I want that call.
Aha, good.
That pitch on LaRoche was nowhere close.
I am way behind but I loved that pseudo triple play earlier…sorry, was on the phone with Cary talking out a fantasy baseball trade.
That said, whoever’s eery prediction how the Braves don’t talented kids they’ve never seen has come to fruition. I am nervous we are going to get shut out here.
Without Chipper & Andruw, we can’t be losing players because, among other things, that could mean a Pratt PH appearance.
That pitch to Laroche wasn’t that far off. The catcher didn’t even have to move his mitt.
Sanchez has thrown 52 pitches so far. If nothing else, we need to at least make him work.
Chuckie is hot!!! 5 straight down.
The ball to LaRoche was a foot inside. Not even pre-Questec Maddux or Glavine gets that call. Hell that reminds me of Livan Hernandez ’97 NLCS right there.
Yeah, I don’t see how you can see it’s “no where close”. It was right there. Whether it was an inch or two off the corner, it’s hard to say. But that’s not a pitch to complain about.
Great start…c’mon Braves…get those runs.
There are still four more innings, so there is still hope Alex. At least we are getting a good performance from James tonight, which is very assuring about his ability to keep pitching good for the rest of the year.
Langy is out of his slump!
The catcher didn’t move his mitt because he was set up behind Laroche’s legs.
There’s a nice start. Thanks, Langy!
Langerhustle.
Langy!!
Zambrano is the HR leader just hit his 4th.(pitchers)
Marcus!!!
There we go.
Wow, Ramirez really blew that play.
Not the hardest hit, but Giles gets the job done.
Giley!!!
Rally Time!
Considering how he looked the other day, putting the ball in play is a significant accomplishment for Giles.
Let’s get that run in.
Kind of a momentum killer…
………………………….that’s too bad…………………….
Crap.
Come on WB!!
Bummer, man.
Damn. Has the Beta Meat gone bad?
DAMN!!!
I want CHIPPER BACK.
Hey, Chucky’s dealin’.
This bullpen being what it is, Chuck probably pitches eight unless his place comes up in the order (he’d bat 6th).
Nice, Chuckie continues to look good!
8 straight.
Was that third out as deep as GameDay made it look (right up against the wall)?
Chucky’s up to 99 pitches.
Langy made a running catch at the edge of the warning track.
Some runs would be nice here
Frenchy come on we need one of you late inning homers.
Frenchy, you’ve lost that clutchy feeling.
Ok that didn’t work.
Matt we need a homer from you.
he was safe.
Ok I’m just going to shut up now.
GameDay’s on the fritz again. For some reason, it has the Braves bringing in Yates.
Say it isn’t so…James was dealing.
Yates… I’m holding my breath
So GameDay’s alright. Then Bobby Cox is on the fritz.
Well theres one.
yea!!! for Langer thank goodness
Get Ross out one more strike.
Yes!!! We need 2 runs I want some Wickamania!!
Yates gets the Fish 1-2-3. Sign of the Apocalypse?
Wow, can’t belive it Yates did not allow a run.
I am very much looking forward to the Jones boys coming back into the lineup.
Me too… Andruw is hitting.
OMG I thought he couldn’t breathe!!!!
That was embarrassing.
Glad to see you again, Andruw.
O well same result.
Mets losing in the 9th and we can’t get any offense. Damn, Damn, Damn.
hmmmff
I’m on Gameday… how did Andruw look? Was he able to hold the bat, or did he look extremely pained?
Man, Tankersley made Thorman and Langerhans look like complete tools. They didn’t have a prayer against this guy. Even on the only ball he threw to either of them, Langerhans looked foolish. Then he K’s Andruw. Dang!
oh no Ray.. I’m holding my breath again
Ken Ray is up.
AAR, Andruw’s first swing looked fine. He fouled the first ball back, and the hack looked pretty strong. He looked awful on the next two strikes though, a slider outside and a fastball almost literally above his hand.
Doug if you keep holding your breathe your liable to collapse.
Nice out Ray.
Excuse me, his head. Not his hand. My bad.
Atleast we have the top of the order up next inning. Kensing was up in the pen. I don’t know about now. Borowski?
Well I guess Druw was looking to tie it up.
LANGER!!!!! WOW WHAT A CATCH!!!! HOLY CRAP!!!!
Langy!!!!
Holy schnikeys.
Langy just saved Kenny Ray from more humiliation.
woot, go langy
Langy!!!
OH MY GOODNESS!!! LANGERHANS BROUGHT IT BACK!!
Well, Ryan Langerhans is answering all the Kelly Johnson fans on Bravesjournal tonight.
WOW
he always looks like he’s trying not to smile when he does something like that, haha
That HAS to be a Web Gems #1.
Wow whats up with Langer. Thank goodness again!
Wow, who needs Andruw???
Now THAT better be the #1 Web Gem.
That’s two Andruw-esque catches in the last two innings for Langer. Wow he’s slick.
C’mon, Braves….BASERUNNERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They said Borowski was up in the pen for Florida.
One to tie, two to win. Who thinks we can do it?
Haha me and TN Brave are on the same page. Right on.
This could turn around Ray’s recent struggle.
so the relievers only pitch well when we are losing and Langy is centerfield?
The bullpen actually did its job, and so did Chuckie. Will it be enough?
Yeah, just heard Borowski. I think they had Kensing up to maybe face Andruw. I saw in the dugout Girardi wanting to make the change but then they picked up the phone to the bullpen. I guess he wasn’t ready. It didn’t matter.
Yeah Rob our comments were scary similar.
Come on Giley, Renty and WB are up next….
Really need to do something here. Can’t keep losing close ones like this.
Well it was half-way in reference to our disgust of the #1 Web Gem sometimes being worse than the #2 or #3.
There’s your baserunner, Alex. Here we go.
Base runner #1…
Hey there, Marcus! Good work for a leadoff guy!
well, amen to that, Rob.
God yahoo is getting slow on me… It says were in the bottom of the 1st.
hey hey GillY!
Jay10,
I always use MLB.com
Skip just mentioned that Ryan Madson of the Phillies has tied the major league record for wild pitches in one inning, with four. As Skip says, “Well, congratulations, I guess.”
Crap
GameDay’s frozen on me. What did Giles do?
What’s up with Yahoo..
They’re still in between innings…
Damn.
DP’s suck!!!!
Well, at least the Mets lost
So Giles comes through and Edgar breaks our hearts. Frustrating.
C’mon guys…don’t give up yet. This loss would really be killer and hurt momentum.
A solo shot now is really needed.
when did Wilson change his name?
Yeah mine is at least back to the ninth. I’m switching to MLB thanks Alex R.
I would love to get Wilson on and Frenchy a shot too…Frenchy loves the Dramatic stuff.
When Jon Miller adopted him.
No prob., Jay.
Damn it!
dammit. The Marlins continue to stick it to us, year after year in different ways; so demoralizing 🙁
dang it!!!!!!!!!
No magic from Betemee tonight…Chipper coming back tomorrow right?!
Arg. Good start, good pen…. No hitting. :-/
another one run loss
We should have won this game.
He’s supposed too.
I guess it’s game over…hmmmff
I wouldn’t know, Yahoo has just started the bottom of the ninth…
is it Beti-MENT or BEti-MAY or what??
We have got to get a winning streak…it’s imperative…like 10 straight or we will never crawl back in. It feels like our feet are stuck in molasses when we lose to no name pitchers.
GameDay’s no better. Mets still losing with one out in the 9th, 8-5.
Hard to argue you are a playoff team if you can’t beat Cody Ross and the AAAA All Stars. Pathetic.
Oh and the Mets have the bases loaded for Julio Franco in the bottom of the 9th with 1 out.
its been Beti-MENT all season and now all of the sudden its Beti-MAY?
Does anyone know why?
Now 2 out for Jose Reyes. Its on WGN btw.
2 outs and 8-6 Cubs
Apparently we have all been wrong.
Bases loaded, 2 outs. And, it looks like it’s up to Bob Howry to make sure the Braves don’t fall even more behind than they are now.
Brewers-Tony Graffanino
Royals- Jorge De La Rosa
Man Dayton Moore has been busy today.
Cubs win.
All right, Braves don’t fall another game back
