I’m surprised Myers doesn’t hit half the righthanders he sees, the way his pitches move. Of course, the righthanders he doesn’t hit often hit him. Hard.
Where was the pitch? I understand the complaints about all the first-pitch swinging, but if he get a pitch to hit on the first one, I can’t really blame the hitter for swinging.
Okay, this is now Villareal’s 2nd quality appearance in a row…are we onto something possibly? Is he turning his season around?

Yikes! I gotta do one more comment – can’t leave it on that number!
All Right, CORKY
…LaRoche, here’s your chance (whoops…hit enter too fast)
They’re gonna roast Arod for that one.
Gotta PH Diaz here, Bobby.
Another chance for Francoeur with 2-out. At least he got a hit this time.
Now, it’s up to the other mister clutch.
Wait, if we get to “smoke” Farnsworth, does that make him our Darko Milicic ‘human victory cigar’???
I never thought I’d say that I’m glad to see a Braves fan eat his words. But I am.
Diaz! We have a shot!
(I love Myers’ intro music.)
I guess we know Bobby’s side in the Frenchy v. Roachey debate.
(Of course, Roachey’s a lefty, but never mind that.)
Alex – what’s up with the Darko reference?
Wow.
Interesting…it seemed on that play (a few times in fact) Diaz was trying to get hit, actually.
how about 1 walk
C’mon, Beta Meat!
wow…bases loaded and Wilson coming up….all we need is a single! Anyone think Pete Orr might be trying to steal home?
I’m surprised Myers doesn’t hit half the righthanders he sees, the way his pitches move. Of course, the righthanders he doesn’t hit often hit him. Hard.
Time for the Proctor-ologist.
The Pistons used to refer to Darko as the ‘human victory cigar’ when he sat on the end of their bench.
Wellp
Who’s eating what words, Jeff K?
And I doubt the “Bobby likes him” logic is gonna fly to well in this argument, given his preference for Brian Jordan, Todd Pratt, Mike Remlinger, etc.
One of these days, you would think we’d learn not to swing at the first pitch.
first pitch swinging –
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
STOP IT, BRAVES, STOP IT.
Dang it. I fully expected the WB to come through there.
I’m still getting nothing done at work.
bases loaded, ne pitcher. We swing at the 1st freakin pitch!!!!!!!!!!!!! Have any of these players watched McCann and Renteria play. Fire TP now!
Yeah, Todd Pratt is in.
Combined with our bullpen, we CAN’T lose now!
ne = new
Give the loss to Betemit.
I smell… I smell….. a lose?
sorry Alex you beat me too it
Where was the pitch? I understand the complaints about all the first-pitch swinging, but if he get a pitch to hit on the first one, I can’t really blame the hitter for swinging.
What’s a lose?
I think that the record is 726 comments (Game 4 last year). We’re actually ahead of that pace, but I doubt this game goes eighteen.
Gotcha, Alex. Lucky for Darko, he is actually getting a chance to play in Orlando now.
Our lineup, if it’s possible, just got substantially worse. Is our bench empty now, or am I forgetting someone?
I don’t care if it’s a stike every single time, Stu, this team has got to learn some plate discipline. The first pitch swinging outs are KILLING US.
Another stellar game for Laroche, huh Alex?

Rob,

Braves 3-6 hitters are all 2-5. Everyone else was 1-22 on the day. Before that, anyway.

WAAHHHHHHHHHHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Sosa to close?
That was completely unexpected and glorious.
Here’s hoping this thread doesn’t approach 726 comments.
what????????????????????????????????????????????????????YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!GILLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Look what happens when you see more then one pitch.
If the Marcus homer and 2 (hopefully!) wins in Yankee Stadium don’t start leading us to more consistent wins, nothing will.
These 2 games have to help…I hope.
What do we call it now? Sosa room? Sosa space?
And the Vulture will get his 8th win if we make this hold up.
OMG, what happened I can’t listen to the game right now????
Giles goes deep.
holy cow are we supposed to cheer
I vaguely remembered this game… 2004: Furcal seemingly trying to lose the game singlehandedly, then wins the game with an RBI single in the ninth.
Chipper!
Sosa Space!
I smell… I smell… a won?
Andruw should lean out and poke one into the right field stands.
The Yanks have to be almost out of pitchers.
SosaSave Time.
No no, BETEMIT got Proctor out of that jam.
Thorrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, come on Thor you can do it! Need some insurance runs.
DANY just gave up a game tying HR to DLee. DANY Strikes Again!
A won would be nice.
For those not watching TBS:
There was just a highlight of Brews/Cubs involving Dan Kolb. Guess what happened.
did it look to anyone else like Andruw could have swung at one or two of those IB’s? or was that wishful thinking and the youtube video above talking?
Did you hear the good news about Reitsma being available?
I kind of miss sentences like this: “Smoltz, of course, got the Pirates with no problems in the ninth.”
He’s not… I hope.
What happened with Kolb? Nothing would surprise me at this pont.
Maybe Jorge needs to pee on his glove, too.
tggr, he is. Just as we start to get back on our feet we are going to get knocked right back down again.
DON’T SWING AT THE 1st PITCH
Good job Thorman.
Francoeur, of course, follows it with a first pitch out.
Young Thor showing some discipline at the plate.
A little drive to right would be nice here.
HOLY PISS.
Oh well.
Frenchy Smurf is so clutch.
2 out R… nevermind
More clutch than Huckleberry today.
Better than striking out? 🙁
Though Corky is more fitting.
i miss dan kolb
time to see what Sosa is made of, c’mon 1-2-3 lets get some confidence.
Oh wow…HUGE defensive play by Edgar!!! C’mon, Braves….2 more!!!!
Sosa is going to strikeout the side.
Edgar – AGAIN!
How about this kid, Edgar?
SUMBODEY MISES ME!!!!
WALK JASON GIAMBI. WALK HIM.
Furcal would have thrown that into the stands.

COME ON!!
Uh-oh. See comment #393
Sosa needs to realize hes a closer. Go after these guys with your heat. ARg.
DP. Come on.
One play doesn’t make up for mediocre defense we’ve seen from Edgar this year. He’s not bad but he’s not amazingly good, either.
Son of a bitch, seriously. Never goes smoothly for us.
PLEASE, not 729 comments!
Let’s not have both “closers” blow the game.
One play? Mraver where have you been, he’s been making awesome plays all day.
Yes…agreed…thrilled with the play by Edgar but mediocre far too often.
well he had to at least get one base runner
Now come on SOSA
Figures…
