Oh, what’s the point? We have absolutely no chance. Let’s just forfeit and rest up for the inevitable Red Sox shellacking.

I tried to be optimistic last night, and look what that got me.
Only 96 games to go.
Wheeeeeeee. More losing on the horizon. How fun.
Line-up – No Changes
Sosa pitched good last time against the Marlins. I think we got a pretty good chance of winning.
The Red Sox are a different story.
Ok, I read on the last thread about Quals and Lidge. I also have heard we might get a bat, Burke maybe?
That trade perplexes me. Why would the Astros do that deal?
They wouldn’t. It is a steaming pile.
Also from that thread:
“But as I’ve said before, I don’t think it’s the pitching so much as the defense. I mean, if we brought in a bunch of high-strikeout fly-ball pitchers that might work, but the real problem is a defensive infield with one C+/C defender in Giles and three D+/D guys.”
Isn’t Chuck James a fly ball pitcher?
Smitty, tell your barber and neighbor’s dog we all said hi. Dont get our hopes up. Oh yeah, we are trading Renteria for Tejada next week. I think the Cards want Sosa for Carpenter, they will pay all of his contract.
Ithink something is going to go down soon, I can feel it.
We are going to win tonight
How about Todd Pratt, Brian Jordan and Chris Reitsma for B.J. Ryan and cash? Seems about as likely.
Giles has a FEVER?
No changes in the line-up? I see Betemit batting.
Giles has a fever or just over 100 degrees.
giles a late scratch……somethings fishy and its not our opponents
Does anybody see Marcus in the dugout? I mean, maybe he really does have a fever–when I have one, I’m usually dizzy and flat on my back, forget sitting thru a game–but, uh, I don’t see him. And I’m suspicious.
So now we’re going to start conspricy theories on why Giles isn’t playing? Somehow I believe the fever line over any possible trade thing.
Conspiracy theories are more fun, Dan. Live a little! 😉
That’s the best thing that’s happened in two and a half weeks.
Is Andruw okay. I see he just got hit on gamecast
He’s fine. And out. Crap.
He is fine.
Too bad that double play just happened.
Skip, the reason that “nothing you try seems to work” during a losing streak is usually that the things you’re trying have no chance to work under the best of circumstances.
Andruw is too slow to steal bases anymore.
any word on Davies? When does he start rehab?
He won’t be back for a long time, I think August.
Son of a b****!
Fish gotta swim, birds gotta fly, Sosa gotta throw gopher balls.
Stupid trade idea: Sosa for Matt Clement.
And yes, I just pulled that out of my butt 20 seconds ago and I know the salary difference is going to kill it unless they send cash. But they’re both sucky RHP and this would be the proverbial “change of scenery.”
sweep!!! get out the brooms
I would do it, we have to have $$$ to spend
Have we talked about that article in the AJC that quotes Remlinger as blaming Chipper for not catching that throw at third last night?
I can’t believe the balls on this guy.
Yeah, we have. Doesn’t really matter now this point.
Why wouldn’t it matter?
That kind of finger pointing can only make things even worse than they already are.
On the replay, it is apparent that Chipper should have caught the ball had he actually moved and not been married to the idea of keeping his foot on the bag to get the out, thereby costing a run and the game. The throw was bad but not that bad.
It is also apparent that Remlinger should STFU anyway.
That is all.
My favorite Bobby quote from yesterday was “I think you can play well and still lose” AHAHAHAH, what games has he been watching? Is this why he hasn’t changed things up? He actually believes we are playing well.
We need another Jorge Sosa haiku
I say it doesn’t matter, because I seriously doubt that Remlinger is going to be kicked off the team because of that, no matter how bad he is.
Sam, that’s only true because Bobby and J.S. apparently don’t give a shit what anyone on the teams does at this point.
I wonder who we are getting for Giles
I think Sosa is being delt too
is anyone on here on AIM btw?
I’m on AIM.
Wow, a patient hitter and a walk. Chippa time for a DP or you can SO and Andruw can take care of it!
Actually I’ll predict a HR this inning!
I’ll predict a homerun this inning, too. In THEIR half of the inning.
whenever it happens, now we have RISP come on Andruw!
Single single, whee!
No surprise there.
Jeff “DP” Francoeur does it again.
Whooooooooooooooooo! Go FRENCHY way to drive in those runs!@
Right on cue
@ Smitty and if anyone cares
My AIM is Sam Gwosdz
Yep..time to give that run back..it’s become mandatory
here comes a bloop tripple
A hit! A most palpable hit!
I am shocked Bobby isn’t bunting
why can’t we make contact
all of our hitter swing at pitches in the dirt
I am sure the Players Union loves the Braves because the Braves’ hitters are developing Cy Young winners for the whole National League.
hehe, what is it with Diaz and the Marlins? It’s like Chipper at Shea stadium.
Gah, good job Pete
Tyler Yates fits in here.
Tyler Yates sucks. Still.
The spirit is completely dead here…
Tyler Yates = Crap. Just ask any Met fan. We wasted 4 years waiting for him to deliver on his ‘potential’
Marlins announcers are being especially obnoxious tonight.
Yates has actually done well this year. Can’t fault any of the arms tonight.
Why not watch TBS?
Time to put the game out of reach for the Braves!. Did they send Stockman up via covered wagon or something? How long can it take to get him in a game?
TBS showed that stat — 9 for last 68 (now 69) with RISP. SUCKS!
Yates hasn’t been here that long, how did he find the pictures so quickly?
Good point by Skip there on everything going the wrong way. We’re a dead engine with no spark right now.
STOCKMAN!L:K !@JL:@J# Q@LK:J
ajlfawepojfeaw3fijwa feoil;j FINALLY!
Don’t trip over yourself, Lando.
Stockman is making his major league debut! HELL YEAH
Time for some lightning bolts out of his ass!
I figure Bobby is waiting to bring Stockman in with at least 2 runners on. Nothing like a pressure situation to initiate him and build that confidence. I forgot that is in his handbook of how to handle the bullpen. Worked great for Devine you know.
Chipper is going yard
Funny Mike, you handle this pen.
If Chipper goes yard, do we cheer or say something cynical and full of resignation?
Depends on if we win or not Raoul
I like to see Andruw in good spirits.
Mike, you know the old man very well.
Yeah, Mike, Bobby is a fool
Not trying to start a war of words here, but I don’t understand the thought police efforts by Raoul. I’m all for being positive, but since when did anyone think that it is a good idea to go to a message board and attempt to stifle any dissenting opinions? Not only is that a little insulting, it seems a very Quixotic effort, without any of the sentimentality required to make it noble.
The moves he’s been making the past month and a half have been foolish.
I’d like to know what the Braves average with runners in scoring position is right now. It has to be pathetic.
Wow, there is nothing to feed off momentum-wise from our club.
Remember when it was tops in the majors when the season had just begun? That seems forever ago…
This kid’s gonna stick. Two pitches and I can already tell. No one in the pen has this kind of confidence.
RD — lighten up. People are on this board because they are Braves fans. Just because some of us are a little frustrated with the last several weeks doesn’t mean we don’t want the Braves to win. If you think Bobby has never made a questionable decision as a coach you have every right to feel that way. I beg to differ as to what is going on lately.
Sheesh, how predictable.
Well, at least we get to see Stockman.
And there it is. The curse of the Braves’ bullpen.
I’m being light. Just don’t think I won’t respond when someone says something unwarranted and cynical about my manager. No one is disputing you’re right say whatever blah, blah, blah…, it just makes you an ass to say things like that about a Hall of Famer. Show some respect, Braves fan.
I think you guys want the Braves to win, I just question sometimes why.
Stockman getting hosed by the ump.
Well that’s not a good start for Stockman.
LOL, why did Diaz catch that? Would have been much easier for
Renteria, he was almost to the infield when he caught it.
Another scoreless inning for Stockman.
Raoul, just because Bobby is a HOF manager doesn’t mean he is perfect you know.
Diaz caught it in case there was a tag attempt. Obviously there wouldn’t be, but you don’t know that for sure mid-flight.
Nice recovery and he just kept slinging it and throwing strikes.
Stockman got lucky that inning.
Raoul wtf does that have to do with catching the ball? If it was that close to the infield they wouldn’t be running and Renteria can make the throw.
Get ready for 13.0 games out.
I really hate this.
Never said Bobby was perfect, just doesn’t deserve this:
“I figure Bobby is waiting to bring Stockman in with at least 2 runners on. Nothing like a pressure situation to initiate him and build that confidence. I forgot that is in his handbook of how to handle the bullpen. Worked great for Devine you know.”
You both would be singing his praises if Devine shined through his outings. There was only evidence of lights out on every level for Devine. We needed a closer bad and Bobby forced this issue, but maybe because he knew how deep his pen was. Easy to say now it was a mistake.
Dan, we know the result even before the game started. The fact that we are still watching the game shows how much we all love this team.
It’s absurb that I have to actually defend our great manager every single night against unfounded claims. On a Braves fan site, no less…
Lando, I think Hermida had to figure it was coming down the pipe 3-2 in the rookie’s debut, I’m just happy Stockman went after him and didn’t give in. And he didn’t lose the other guy 3-1. Nice to see him aggressive and not give up the walks that we’ve seen so often. Hopefully he does well and sticks.
Thanks a lot Yates.
Raoul, Bobby did exactly that to Yates on his first appearance.
Nice shot Roach.
Too little too late.
raoul say: “Just don’t think I won’t respond when someone says something unwarranted and cynical about my manager”
you play for the braves raoul?
The Roach comes through in the ninth. What is this team coming to that the only one helping us is The Roach?
kc, see my explanation above again, takes care of the same situation.
Is there anyone good on the Braves by the standards of this board?
Raoul, how you said apply to Devine, but not Yates. Come on, Yates?
Giles last AB as a Brave
Raoul, how can you see any good on the Braves right now?
Well, he may be traded, but he looked sick to me.
Clever, Ryan, yeah I’m the first guy to say “we” and “my” in reference to a team he likes. Good sniping Ryan, how long were you waiting to make that one?
Smitty, did you barbar have any new trade rumor?
Mike I agree. I really would like to see him do well.
Wow, how bad do we suck? This is Royals type suckage. Horrible.
Swept by the Marlins…
I can’t say much more than that
“Giles last AB as a Brave ”
Bullcrap. He’ll be there tomorrow.
13 games back after being swept by the Marlins. It’s about over for this season, though it can (not likely) be turned around.
14 of 17, how much anyone want to bet it’ll be 20 of 23 after the homestand?
Plenty of good. Sosa was awesome tonight. That’s something is it not?
We should all start writing hate letters to JS if there is no move by the end of this month.
“Too little too late.”
“14 of 17, how much anyone want to bet it’ll be 20 of 23 after the homestand?”
“Oh, what’s the point? We have absolutely no chance. Let’s just forfeit and rest up for the inevitable Red Sox shellacking.”
Awesome Braves Fans
You guys(posters on this site) suck, I’m outta here.
Raoul, no it’s not you know why? Because WE LOST!
Raoul, no wonder why you love Bobby. You have the kindness which I will never have.
How can anyone be so positive after losing 14 out of 17? Only Bobby…and Raoul.
The Red Sox are going to bend us over and have their way with us.
Not even Bobby’s as positive as Raoul…
Um, not to get people’s hopes up or anything, but the Red Sox have sucked pretty bad as of late. Of course, we may cure what ails ’em, but this could be a series of wonderfully balanced craptastic proportions this weekend.
Look at the bright side gang, we were beaten by a first place team and we had relatively no opportunities to score. Plus Wilson Betemit really proved he’s ready to replace Giles and Stockman wowed me with his first outing.
Nice point Jenny. The Sox are on the verge of getting swept by the Twins, who just happen to have as many wins as we do……..
Tell you what Raoul, if the Braves take five of six from the Red Sox and Blue Jays, I’ll be much more positive and keep the faith of us getting into the play-offs. Otherwise, I just can’t.
Dude, watch the games….do you know anything about baseball ON THE FIELD?? Do you have any idea about baseball situations? We already know that Bobby Cox is a hall of famer, and that’s not because you say so all the time. Doesn’t mean he isn’t capable of making ridiculous in-game decisions.
I second that Dan.
