5/6/98: The Braves today completed a three-game sweep of Pure Evil in its incarnation as the Los Angeles Dodgers. Maddux was hit in the knee in the sixth, but got out of the inning before leaving and says he will be fine. The real story is Michael Tucker, who has been on an amazing roll the last week or so after getting off to a horrific start. It’s maybe too early to say, but judging from last year and his Kansas City career, Michael might be a very streaky player.

The Braves signed Ozzie Guillen and designated Ray Holbert for assignment. I don’t really like this move. Guillen’s not a significantly better player than Holbert at this stage of his career, if he’s better at all. He’s really a somewhat better Belliard, but from what I hear he’s a jerk. Anyway, there was no real reason for this move, though it doesn’t hurt the team.
