I was at a meeting last night and didn’t get to see it. Also, I am later than my usual late because I somehow had a loss of saved passwords yesterday, but Alex R. came to my rescue (and THEN, the program “exited” when I tried to “post the links” and low and behold I had not saved, but I still got back to the draft which wasn’t lost). So, I took a quick look to see if I could catch a theme and it was basically, Bryce Elder hit the wall. And, that brings about the recognition that Walt Weiss is probably the best major league manager I have ever seen. MAYBE I would say Earl Weaver. Earl “maximized regular season wins” better than anybody. Weiss is awful good at that. Dick Williams was great at “strategic moves in the post season.” Snit did that so well in 2021 it was amazing (particularly since Snit’s usual approach was Bobby Cox regular season and Cox didn’t “change gears” like that). Yesterday, he didn’t make the move quite quick enough, but all of these “rain out fill in games” (like yesterday’s) eventually cause a problem.

So, Braves go into inning 6 up 3 to 2. Why couldn’t the rain start falling, immensely? HUH!!! Osleivis Basabe (isn’t that a weight loss food?) led off with a homer. Tie game. Then 2 singles and Dylan Lee was brought in. This is the “suddenly vulnerable Dylan Lee” not the “unbelievably good Dylan Lee.” So, he promptly went sacrifice, then 2 more singles and Weiss pulled one more move, to Ray Kerr, who got them out of the inning, but now down 6 to 3. It stayed there until the Giants got one in inning 9.

After 7 in a row, you can’t get too down. The problems of Dylan Lee are probably the big thing from this one. Otherwise, on to Washington for 2 games, then Thursday off, then 4 in Philadelphia. By late Monday of next week, we will know if we will have a divisional pennant race, or a strong shot at the second first round bye.
