How many fields must a man play on
Before he’s again an all star?
How many seas must Christopher sail
Before he surpasses that bar?
Yes, and how many times must the injuries hit
Before they’re just a distant scar?

The answer, my friend, is blowin’ in the wind
The answer is blowin’ in the wind

Chris Sale pitched another strong game Tuesday night, leading the Braves to a 6-2 victory over the Snakes in the hot desert.  Although he wasn’t as sharp as he can be in the early going, he nonetheless held them scoreless through five, before yielding a couple in the sixth. Sale richly deserves his all star selection.  He is 12-3, with an ERA of 2.74, and his peripherals are even better than that.  Halfway though this season, he is pitching every bit as well as he did in his heyday from 2012-2018.  His WHIP is under 1.00, a feat that he accomplished three times in the last decade.

Yes, and how many times must Duvall come to bat

Before he can hit this year?
And how many AB’s must one man have
Before he can hear people cheer
Yes, and how many outs will it take ’til he knows
That too many people have fears?

The answer, my friend, is blowin’ in the wind
The answer is blowin’ in the wind

Adam Duvall has been pretty wretched so far this season, but he is showing signs over the last week of coming around.  He had the big blow last night, a three run homer in the sixth.

Yes, and how many games must a Braves team exist
Before it plays like it should?
And how many games can their hitters exist
Before they finally swing the wood?
Yes, and how many times can the fans watch the games

Hoping that this team’s really good?

The answer, my friend, is blowin’ in the wind

After taking the last two from Philly over the weekend, our Braves have now won the first two on this west coast road trip.  They are 12 games over .500, and playing as we all believed they could.

On July 9, 1962, Bob Dylan recorded, for the first time, “Blowin in the Wind.” He didn’t release his own recording until the following year, but in the meantime it became a hit for Peter, Paul, and Mary, causing many to take note of this young folk singer who sounded like Woody Guthrie and wrote like no one else.
