Greetings from Australia. Look: I’m very confused. I’m supposed to throw up a game thread for the Friday night tilt between our Braves and the New York Yankees, but there’s catch: it’s already Saturday here. It seems really unfair to put up a Friday game thread on Saturday. After all, I should know who wins by now.
I don’t want to spoil it for you guys, or for myself for that matter. It never occurred to me before that Peter Moylan ought to have a huge advantage in predictions: he can just look up the answer from the future if this Australian thing sticks with him.
Chris Sale (9-2, 2.98) took on Carlos Rodon (9-3, 3.18) . I think if I said any more I might give stuff away. You chumps living back there in the past should feel free to comment from your puny perches in what you so blithely call “the present.” But I’m ahead of you…. literally.
The next crazy part is that this is a Friday game, so I’m supposed to recap it. If I just posted the recap now, though, y’all wouldn’t get a chance to comment live. Ryan wants you to be ab *That remle to do that. So I’ll hold up my recap for now. The game is on Apple+, and I’m not sure whether or not I could have seen it here, but I’ll hunt around. Anyway, this will be (was? is?) my second straight Twilight Zone recap. I’ll try to get it up before last Wednesday. (That reminds me: AAR is getting married this weekend. At least that’s still in the future, even for me. Congrats!)
I’m going to be in Australia for the whole three game series, so this is like a trilogy. Comment away, but try not to say anything you’ll regret later.

Thanks, JonathanF! Where you are, I’m already married!
I hope you have fond memories of the occasion!
Congratulations, Alex.
Congrats, AAR!
Saw a weird stat today… in his career, DJ LeMahieu is 7 for 10 vs. Sale with 3 HRs. Hope most of that was during Sales’ injury-filled 2019 season. LeMahieu hasn’t been lighting it up much since his return from injury, but Boone did move him up in the lineup today, from 9th to 6th.
That said, tonight’s Yankee lineup after Stanton’s cleanup spot isn’t exactly terrifying. Of course, their 2 & 3 spots are as good as any club out there.
Headed up to The Bronx with a buddy visiting from ATL. Gonna be a blazing-hot wknd, but we’ll be at all three games. Go Bravos.
Are you suggesting the Yanks already won before the game even started?
Congrats, AAR!
Good start. Ozzie and Riley brought their bats to the Bronx.
Duvall looked like Ozuna on that flyball.
AAR, congrats on your special day!
Soto is a generational hitting talent with the fielding range of a washing machine.
Sale might not need more than four tonight but let’s keep scoring just in case.
The baserunning and fly-ball judgment leaves something to be desired.
I’m guessing most knowledgeable Braves fans didn’t need to “Ask Siri” for that trivia answer.
Rodon looked like he was gonna cry after the Yankee fans booed him off the mound.
Arcia’s OPS is now under .600. Hard to make up for that on defense.
Congratulations AAR! Hope you’re having a wonderful wedding weekend.
JonathanF, thanks for the recap-non-recap. What an awesome trip you’re having. Anjoy Australia!
Great win. A game like this feels like 2023. Sale has been unbelievable.
Greetings from Tupelo! Thanks Jonathan for getting to the game thread, but I’m sure you’ve already read this by now. Funny word “read” when used in that context. Never made phonetical sense. I’ll be traveling today as well. We are headed to St. Louis for a week then Asheville for 3! And it just so happens that the Braves are playing the Cards while I’m there and I’ll get to see 2 games in the best seats I’ve ever had in my life! Alex, congratulations, my dude! This team is putting it together right now. Getting hot when it’s getting hot.
