When Luis Guillorme was signed, my question was a simple one: Why? Sure, he had tortured the Braves several times in regular season games when he was a Met, but outside of that, he was below average in every single offensive and defensive category, unless you count foul balls hit against the Atlanta Braves. Now…if Guillorme had had 1 single MiLB option, I would have been ok. He didn’t. Considering David Fletcher was going to get paid no matter what and that his salary would count toward the CBT no matter what, the Guillorme signing really didn’t make sense. Now, apparently Alex Anthopoulos agrees…

Not only this, but a good Braves source had some not so great parting words for Guillorme…

That also leads to the next transaction as the Braves picked up Zack Short from the Red Sox. This will be Short’s 3rd MLB team to play for in 2024 Over the course of his MLB career, Short has played both infield and outfield and, in all likelihood, will be an emergency backup to a plethora of positions. He’s out of options so he’ll be Guillorme’s direct replacement…and hopefully, they like him.
