Cliff’s Notes supplied the helpful stuff you needed to know about tonight’s game, but he forgot to mention that it wouldn’ be played because of rain. But of course that makes me think of 1982. 1982. I wish I could forget 1982. But I can’t. A rainout in Game 1 with one out in the bottom of the fifth with the Braves in the lead behind Phil Niekro is unforgettable. That said, the Braves performances in the three games that were played was pretty pitiful. Only Bruce Benedict and Claudell Washington had OPS above .700 and the Braves had only 3 RBI in the entire three-game series, one of them by Phil Niekro. To quote Buck Murdock: “I’ll never be over Macho Grande.”
Some will say: “How can you hold a grudge for 42 years?” Some are idiots.
