I wish I could forget 1982. But I can’t. A rainout in Game 1 with one out in the bottom of the fifth with the Braves in the lead behind Phil Niekro is unforgettable. That said, the Braves performances in the three games that were played was pretty pitiful. Only Bruce Benedict and Claudell Washington had OPS above .700 and the Braves had only 3 RBI in the entire three-game series, one of them by Phil Niekro. To quote Buck Murdock: “I’ll never be over Macho Grande.”
