Current Ace Braves Starter Reynaldo Lopez will take on Sixto Sanchez tonight at 7:20 ET/6:20 CT. While Sixto has appeared in 7 games this year, today marks his first start in the big leagues since September 23rd, 2020 against the Braves, who scored 4 runs in 3 innings. Sixto has had multiple shoulder surgeries since 2020, but is claiming that he’s healthy. I guess we will see first hand if that’s accurate.
Braves Lineup
A Speedy Friedy
Long time Braves Journal lurker and book author John Adcox was present at last night’s game with some mighty fine seats (how about a call next time, John?) and got to catch Max Fried imitating a LH Greg Maddux. When the last pitch was thrown, the timer showed 1 hour & 59 minutes, the shortest full game the Braves have played since August 21, 2006. I asked John if he was able to drink his 2nd beer and I’m proud to say that he found the time.

In my defense, I don’t have your number.
HA! I can get that to you!
Riley…woof
Just here to say that it’s always better to have a winning percentage that reminds me of Boeing than one that reminds me of the Beach Boys.
Love this! There is one Beatles song that would be an even better winning percentage than Boeing.
I was a DJ at a campus radio station in the early 1980s and for a while had a weekly 6-9am shift that started with me literally turning on the station, which shut down sometime after midnight. I always wondered if anyone was listening to static waiting for me to flip the switch. One time near the end of a semester, I decided to see how many songs in a row I could play with numbers in the title before anyone caught on. I remember I included “409” and “867-5309” and “Sweet Little Sixteen” and I think “25 or 6 to 4.” Can’t remember the others, but I’m sure I wouldn’t have included “9 to 5” or “99 Red Balloons” or “Seventeen” Eventually the station manager, who took it more seriously than anyone else, called and told me to cut it out.
If no one is listening: One (Is The Loneliest Number)
Maybe if we didn’t throw pitches against the shift?
Also when your 3rd or 4th best reliever is the closer it adds a certain amount of uncertainty to the 9th inning
Nice game until Raisel happened.
This is why add on run matters….the offense is not good, except for Ozuna, and the HR’s are not happening.
Good Raisel at least saved the tie.
What happened that inning was Olson.
The inning ending double play was utterly predictable. Our “good players” just aren’t doing what we need them to do. Getting carried by the other guys at this point. My confidence to score a run with our murderers row of Riley and Olson is not great.
Riley sure can play d though
That play Riley just made to save a run is legitimately one of the best plays by a 3b I’ve seen in a long time.
He is still playing great on defense in spite of his offensive struggles. I bet he comes up big in the 10th.
AJ!
The offense has been asleep today, but lots of great things from the pitching and defense: Reynaldo’s terrific start, Jimenez, Iglesias rallying after the horrible error, Minter rallying after running into his own traffic. All the double plays. Multiple runners thrown out at home. Riley – that was INCREDIBLE.
How about a run?
MICHAEL HARRIS II!
I’m glad it was Acuña on second, there’s no one else on the team I’m confident scores there given how it went down.
