Before we get to Braves Kyle Wright vs. Astros Framber Valdez, I just wanted to say sorry, Braves Journalers. Last night was my fault. I was the curse. Jesse Chavez had been brilliant in 2023, but in a matter of minutes, said brilliance vanished and in the blink of an eye, the Astros scored 3 runs and Jesse recorded 0 outs. Still, there were opportunities, but the Braves didn’t cash in and Yordan Alvarez is an absolute monster. Let’s also not forget that the Astros are quite good.
On paper tonight’s game looks like an uphill battle as Framber Valdez has been the opposite of bad this year and is carrying a 1.80 ERA. Kyle Wright looked much better his 2nd go around in the rotation and his pitches are darting all over the place. Hopefully, those pitches dart all over the place, but end up crossing the zone.
Braves Lineup
The Braves will be in their City Connect Uniforms again tonight and here’s the lineup:
I just don’t get it…and probably never will.
Braves Minor League Players of the Day
- AAA: Braden Shewmake went 3-5 with a double and a HR, raising his OPS to .742
- AA: Rained Out
- A+: Adam Zebrowski: 2-4, 1 2B and a HR, 5 RBI, 1.293 OPS
- Low A: Owen Murphy: 3.1 IP, 0R, 2H, 2BB, 5K
Thanks for reading on Braves Kyle Wright! If you’re craving more Braves MiLB news, check out this piece on catcher Drake Baldwin!
Pretty much punting on the 7-8-9 spots in the order tonight.
Making Valdez throw 8 pitches an inning isn’t going to cut it. At this point Valdez can darn near pitch again tomorrow..jk
Maybe we should consider walking Alvarez…..
Our defense is doing Wright no favors. Hard to believe we were considering giving Grissom the full time shortstop job. His defense seems lazy and just cost us a run,. Looks pretty clear we are going to get swept
I miss having a shortstop who could field his position.
Also, nice job, Ozzie.
Also, hurry back, Michael. And stop running Eli White and Marcell Ozuna out there, Snit. Those two are useless.
Yates is getting better at throwing the ball to first.
Still not great at throwing it to the plate though. That’s a big add on run he gave up (yet somehow I am not shocked)
At the rate he is going he will soon make a throw that the 1st baseman can catch while on the base, possibly even on the fly.
How much longer is Harris going to be out?
Recapped.
