It’s very odd to have two off days scheduled back to back like that, especially this early in the season. But who the hell knows what Selig is up to. Probably part of his plan to open the Hellmouth before he “retires” after this years.
Anyway, the Braves come off a brutal loss in Denver and open a series in Detroit tonight after having no game played for two nights in a row for some reason.
Here’s a video of a song everyone should sing this year if people had taste. I still have no idea how to embed video in Word Press, so you’ll have to click the linke.

For the wrap-around, here’s an SBNation Falcons blog:

Anibal Sanchez is on my fantasy team.
I know; that should have ensured that he’d get beaten up. Sorry!
Lineup:
Simmons ss, Uggla 2b, JUpton lf, Freeman 1b, CJohnson 3b, Gattis c, Bupton cf, Francisco dh, Success rf.
Still mystified by Fredi’s implicit claim that C. Johnson is a more competent defensive third baseman than J. Francisco.
Too close to take, Justin.
I’m getting the suspicion that today didn’t happen either.
Or maybe it did! You don’t have to throw strikes when you pick off baserunners!
3-It makes no sense. Good thing Francisco can really hit, because Fredi otherwise seems to despise him.
These Black Crackers uniforms are awesome.
So we’re going to make these pitchers look like studs. Ok.
Right the first time.
Looks like a third off-day.
This is why the loss Wednesday was so infuriating.
Why does a two-run lead in the third feel like game over?
Really? Fredi kills the first show of life with a stolen base attempt?
And a walk right after it.
Guys, just stop running when you don’t have good leads.
Fredi… just…. ugh. Or maybe that’s BJ’s fault. But why on earth would you steal there?
There’s a run. Just gone.
Wow, would this inning would be looking great right now without the retarded steal attempt.
There’s another run lost to decapitated chicken running.
Uggla inspires confidence in a K. Or a rare (for him) 6-4-3.
Just don’t swing Dan.
Snitkered
WOOO HIS NAME IS DAN UGGLA AND HE WALKS A LOT
Well done, Dan. That should be your strategy every single time.
Uggla lets them give us a run.
Thank you Infante.
Whew. Thanks Infante!
JUpton’s been hanging around our other hitters too long. He tried to hit into a 6-4-3, which the Tigers refused to turn.
FREDDIE!
BABIP is sometimes your friend.
No hard hit balls and 3 runs… I’ll take it.
Can’t believe Chris Johnson is in the field either.
Bizarro Braves
And as often as not BABIP is your enemy. What a bunch of crap hits.
Damn you, Uggla.
Uggla, you moron.
Sheesh.
And another crappy defensive play. I blame Uggla for trying to throw the ball before he caught it.
They gave Cabrera a hit. What a joke. Uggla is the worst.
I blame Uggla for being shitty at his job.
Well, I think most of us blame Uggla for existing, but I thought I needed to be more specific.
I really don’t like Dan very much.
If Pena or Pastornicky doesn’t start at second tomorrow, I am going to drive over to Detroit and kick Fredi in the balls.
I hate everything.
This ain’t your 2012 Medlen.
Medlen’s FIP is up to 4.21 and xFIP at 4.44.
A guy who posts a 5.34 k/9 without otherworldly control or extreme ground ball tendencies is mediocre, no better than average. That’s basically who Medlen has been this April.
@44: Yeah, it was one of the great command runs of all time. Not exactly surprising that the offseason threw it off enough that he is now nothing special.
Making these runs up shouldn’t be a problem for many teams against a meatball tosser like Porcello, but when you lead off with flea-sized OBPs like Simmons and Uggla have …
In the past thirteen innings, the Braves have allowed over 21% of all the runs they’ve allowed all season.
Never thought I’d want effing success batting lead-off again…
In light of his April, this seems stupid.
All our pitchers are soft tossing control specialists. If the control’s not there, we’re going to give up runs like crazy. Need one power arm at least in this rotation. This team won’t make the playoffs if Beechy doesn’t come back strong.
This is trending into a second place spot in the division standings by this time next week. Washington is getting things together and we are falling apart. But hey, they won’t strike out 17 times today
DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMED.
Now I remember why I don’t read the comments as much when we’re losing. Panic level = absurd.
Medlen is over 100 pitches and you are down by 2 already in the 6th, so let’s send him back out there since he has been super effective so far
At least BJ makes his outs quickly so we don’t have to watch him bat any longer than necessary.
@53
Ha ha ha ha
Uggla continuing to show us his fine approach at the plate. He is consistently bad in all aspects of the game right now
The BJ caught stealing earlier in the game really hurts now.
53- To be fair, this is a team that really does look so much worse when things go wrong. We’re so dependent on power and so contact-averse that we can make average pitchers look like Hall of Famers; a succession of 4-3 groundouts and popups looks better than just standing there gormlessly.
JUSTIN!!
Alright. Let’s go.
Comeback time.
It’s in the bag. The homer is the herald of Braves victory.
11 solo home runs. It’s pretty remarkable just how awful Simmons, BJ Upton, Heyward, and Uggla have all been at the plate this month. Nobody is ever on base when Upton hits.
Guy’s got 2 hits on the season, but he gets a double off us.
You know, watching Infante playing well and having great at-bats makes watching Uggla that much more painful.
Ugh.
Gah, he was out.
You know, umps, you don’t need to screw us over. We’re perfectly capable of screwing ourselves.
Is this that “rapport with the umpires” stuff Gattis needs to learn?
Will Fredi ever argue any clown calls?!
I could tell he was out in real time. I was surprised Johnson didn’t react.
But, seriously Omar, quit rubbing it in against your old team!
How much longer can Uggla remain the starter? When the team is struggling, his hustle is lost. He looks pathetic when the team as a whole is playing poorly. His defense is inept and his hitting has been like that for 2 years. I have tickets for tomorrow nights game and I hate the thought of dealing with the idiot Tiger fans on the brink of a sweep
Damage’s already done even the ump doesn’t screw us. That was a big run.
I just…. Add BJ to the clown car with Uggla.
To paraphrase Ring Lardner, “Although BJ is a very poor hitter, he is a very poor fielder.”
When it’s not going well, it’s really going bad.
Add the relief corp to the clown car with Uggla and BJ. Nobody that can punch out a hitter aside from Kimbrel.
@77 yeah well he couldn’t get it done in Colorado either.
Remember when our pitching was dominate, our hitters on fire, and we were winning? That was fun—let’s go back to that.
Really wish they’d broken the “can’t win without a homer” streak before the “can’t lose with one.”
Recap posted.
