I know in ‘theory’ Soriano shouldn’t have been hit by Huddy, but this guy has continued to try & show up the Braves, not just beat them. And there’s a difference. I hate the smugness of Soriano.

Jon Miller must have seen 5000 or so baseball games. I would like to ask if he has ever seen anyone thrown out for a rough slide at second base. I’ve seen borderline assaults at the plate, and of course nobody got ejected.
Many of us here in BravesJournal have hated Joe Morgan for a very long time, and his snickering despise of the Braves is currently being played out.
Those Braves fans who were confused as to why many of us have always hated Joe, he’s proving why.
Soriano should have been hit the night before when he was strutting around the bases, which is probably why they let the Huddy beanball slide.
Jon is a Joe apologist–always has been. Now he’s buying into more of Morgan’s idiotic crap then ever before.

I met Joe Morgan when I was in grade school and he was extremely nice, even giving me and my little brother hitting tips for about 15 minutes. But he hates the Braves, and I hate the Sunday night games because of him.

I happen to agree with Joe/Jon/Peter that Lilly shouldn’t have been thrown out. The audio of the umpire says it all — he knows he threw at him because he was waiting for someone to throw at someone. If that’s true, he should have issued a warning before the game.
My goodness, we will be hearing the same thing over and over again for the whole damn game.
Mac, yesterday, my wife & I brought over some delicious blueberry and apple (Felix) Pie along with some vanilla ice cream to our friends house for dessert.
What if a position by position Battle Royale had ensued? I think the Braves would win that by a hefty margin- particularly at 1B. I bet Thor could have a career in UFC.
A few observations:
1. The other 4 NL East teams lost today, so we need to take advantage of tonight’s game.
2. I stole Jeff Gordon’s car.
3. I have a feeling people will be talking about the ‘Lilly-situation’ tomorrow and that umpire better have one helluva reason for tossing Tedster.

I’m really glad for Gammons and his family that he got back to work after his stroke, but he has seemed really off ever since then. Particularly on Baseball Tonight when he is put on the spot. Understandable, though, I guess.
It’s pretty sad that Willie Harris is currently a better option than Andruw Jones. That should never be the case.

Lilly hit Renteria with two out in the first. Edgar sort of meandered towards the mound then went to first, then Lilly came off the mound. After warning both dugouts, the home plate umpire ejected Lilly. Morgan won’t shut up about it. Meanwhile, Miller has decided that Renteria should have been ejected for sliding into the shortstop on a subsequent steal of second.

I really wish we would stop relying on K-Zone. It is not at all consistent, since it is entirely dependent on the exact camera angle. Yet Jon and Joe believe it to be Gospel.
Why hasn’t Smoltz or anyone else mentioned that Soriano got hit because he was showboating? Even on his sac fly he stood there and admired the ball. Makes me sick. You hit the ball and run hard to first. That’s how you play the game.

I think I’m finally realizing what I dislike most about this duo. What is so annoying is that Joe will declare something definitively with or without any evidence (i.e., “Ted Williams wasn’t a guy who took a lot of walks” when in fact he is among career leaders) while Jon is so quick to back off a statement. Take just now, for instance, “Bobby Cox, if it comes down to it, he has….he may have a better…a little bit better…his bullpen is in a little bit better shape.”

Fortunately, Lance Cormier is “injured,” so he doesn’t have to take up space on anyone’s roster.
I think he basically just suffers from Bob Brenlyitis.
