I saw this in this morning Washington Post…glad to see we’re not going out of our way to help a divisional rival…
Nats Will Use DH
The Nationals requested to use the DH in their first 10 spring training games and have agreements to do so with the Dodgers, Orioles and Astros. Atlanta, the opponent on Monday, declined. At National League parks, the home team can decide which rules to use.

I’m surprised we would care, like, at all. It’s spring training. Let ’em do whatever they want. At the least, our pitchers get more time against real hitters.
TB: QB Jake Plummer
DEN: either a 3rd or 4th round pick

who cares if the pitchers bat or dont bat in Spring Training, I would rather us give extra AB’s to the position players who are fighting it out to make the roster too.

why does TB want another 2nd rate QB?

Right, let’s really stick it to those teams in spring training.

Because I’m bored, I decided to do my scenarios for the SEC this weekend in regards to seeding for the SEC Tournament:
**NOTE: THESE ARE MY GUESSES. THEY’RE GOOD GUESSES, BUT NOTHING OFFICIAL.**
SEC East:
Florida has clinched the #1 seed for the East.
Vanderbilt has clinched the #2 seed for the East. Yes, if Vandy loses, they could potentially get in ties with Kentucky or Tennessee, but I don’t see a scenario where either gets the #2 over Vandy.
Tennessee will clinch the #3 seed in the East if they beat Georgia OR Kentucky loses to Florida. Tennessee will get the #4 seed if they lose AND Kentucky wins.
Kentucky will clinch the #3 seed in the East with a win AND Tennessee loss. Kentucky will clinch the #4 seed in the East with a win OR Tennessee win. Kentucky will clinch the #5 seed in the East with a loss AND a Georgia win.
Georgia will clinch the #4 seed in the East with a win AND Kentucky loss. Georgia will clinch the #5 seed with a loss OR a Kentucky win.
South Carolina will be the #6 seed in the the East.
SEC West:
Mississippi State will clinch a #1 seed in the West with a win. Mississippi State cannot clinch a #2 seed. Mississippi State can clinch a #3 seed with a loss.
Auburn will clinch a #1 seed in the West with a win AND Alabama win. Auburn will clinch a #2 seed in the West with a win AND Mississippi State win. Auburn will clinch a #3 seed in the West with a loss AND an Arkansas loss AND Alabama loss. Auburn will clinch a #4 seed in the West with a loss AND an Arkansas loss AND an Alabama win. Auburn will clinch a #5 seed in the West with a loss AND an Arkansas win AND an Alabama win.
Ole Miss will clinch a #1 seed in the West with a win AND Alabama win. Ole Miss will clinch a #2 seed with a win AND Mississippi State win. Ole Miss will clinch the #3 seed with a loss AND Arkansas loss AND Alabama loss. Ole Miss will clinch the #4 seed with a loss AND Alabama win and Arkansas loss. Ole Miss will clinch the #5 seed with a loss AND Alabama win AND Arkansas win.
Alabama will clinch a #2 seed in the West with a win. Alabama will clinch a #4 seed in the West with a loss AND Arkansas loss. Alabama will clinch a #5 seed in the West with a loss AND Arkansas win.
Arkansas will clinch a #3 seed in the West with a win AND Mississippi State win. Arkansas will clinch a #4 seed in the West with a win AND Mississippi State loss. Arkansas will clinch a #5 seed in the West with a loss.
LSU will be seeded 6th in the West for the SEC Tournament.

Wryn, impressive, but you’re right you’re bored!! Smoltz comes on in an hr..
Beedee, it’s because last year their 2nd-rate QB got hurt and they were stuck with two 4th-rate QBs. I think Smitty was next on the depth chart.

has anyone seen the clip of Shaun Linvingston dislocating his knee? You Tube has taken it down, but from what I hear he’ll be out all of next year also. He tore his ACL, LCL, MCL and any other CL’s that I didnt mention, must have been nasty. Problem was, from what I’ve read, is that no one was even guarding him.

“The best dunkers are on And 1”
Okay. And let me rephrase. The best basketball players are in the NBA. The best games are for the next month in college basketball. And it’s really really hard to top the drama of high school basketball tournaments going on across the nation for the next two weeks.

@1 and @2, When Dick Williams was with the Oakland A’s in the early 70’s and they had the DH in the AL he always made his ptichers take batting practice. Why? “To be ready for the World Series”.
Our pitchers need to hit some. Our pitchers need to face pitchers BECAUSE THEY WILL SEE THEM IN THE REGULAR SEASON. But more important than that is the message “We are not fooling around. We are getting in position to win.”

I have not seen that Livingston clip, and never will. I tore my ACL in high school back in ’89 and to this day cannot watch any type of knee injury without wanting to pass out. Going to the game tomorrow at Diznee assuming it doesn’t rain. I hope Huddy looks good.
If Andruw doesnt resign with us, what are the chances our 4OF’s next year will be Diaz, Francouer, Langy, and Blanco? Cheap young OF, put the money back into the starting rotation?
Wryn

Anyone want to count the number of times Diaz stretches out his back this year? I’m already irritated by it.

Andruw a new tattoo on his left arm.
Wryn
on March 2, 2007 at 1:22 pm
Andruw really has slimmed down too – no score after 1. His Spiderman tattoo freaks me out.
Adam LaRoche #96 in today’s game – I wonder if he forgot his jersey.
I guess Adam isn’t taking his medicine….forgot his jersey…forgot his glasses and had to borrow Glenn Hubbard’s…forgot that he can’t wear jeans to play golf…forgot his golf clubs when he played with Tiger Woods. hahaha
Judging by that throw, the Pirates’ 3B heard about Orr’s plot.

So in his first action of the spring, the Vulture comes in with lead and has a blown save that puts him in position to pick up the win (which he didn’t). It’s deja vu all over again…….

Apparently Jake Plummer doesn’t want to play for Tampa…saying “I might just retire”. The trade is on hold as of right now.
Oh, I see John Kruk is attempting to bring back the mullet.
side note: Roachy looks weird in yellow and black.
Did you notice they spelled Kruk’s name “Kruck?”
What did i do to deserve both Steve Philips and John Kruk??????
Nice start…
did he say Smoltz has added a knuckle?
Chris Duffy looked terrible up there.
Yes. I dunno – I don’t buy that he’ll throw it a lot.
And just think, we were actually trying to get him in the deal.
Wow…Smoltz is just plain nasty!
Do the Pirates have a legit shot to win 75 games?
If Andruw doesnt resign with us, what are the chances our 4OF’s next year will be Diaz, Francouer, Langy, and Blanco? Cheap young OF, put the money back into the starting rotation?

Hahahahahahahahaaha…that’s great.
HE DID. LAROCHE FORGOT HIS JERSEY.
This is too good.
#96???? He thinks that playing in the Pirates is a joke
our 2nd baseman already been hit in the chest by a liner, Glen forgot to tell him that he needs a glove to play the position…

Orr is causing problems for Kelly
Lets hope Smoltz pitch like this all year
I guess Adam isn’t taking his medicine….forgot his jersey…forgot his glasses and had to borrow Glenn Hubbard’s…forgot that he can’t wear jeans to play golf…forgot his golf clubs when he played with Tiger Woods. hahaha
How is “Ken Ray” listed as a key loss?
How is “Chris Woodward” listed as a key gain?
They can’t hit homers off Chris Woodward.
Adam LaRoche is Jerry Seinfeld!
“But I don’t wanna be a Pirate!”
McBride looks leaner.
Great throw…nailed him!!
Matt….seriously, it’s ok to put the brakes on sometimes.
Ray was mentioned as a loss, but they overlooked Reitsma…
I don’t see McBride as a starter….
1-0 Pirates…
I think he might have been out on that one.
Wow!!! Tony Pena nice double play.
Aflac!
Wickamania in the 5th
Wickman–he also looks a bit lighter…
Lets see what Blanco can do…
Ok, quick question…Why in the hell is Jose Castillo shaving his legs in the dugout?
@52
Aerodynamics, thats why
Not exactly good glove work–no telling about Castillo
Frenchy!!! That was a bomb.
Frenchy!! Nice Catch!
has anyone noticed Gameday Audio is a little hic-uppy?
it was looping the same call for about 5 minutes or he really has limited material.
Gonzo not looking good today so far…
Gonzalez needs some work…
beedee–for once I am able to watch the game–but last year I found that Gameday Audio had a mind of its own.
yeah, i couldn’t break away from the office to catch the game
Lets see if Blanco gets the green light…
i think it’s about a half inning behind real time
Sounds familiar
Prado!
There we go Jurries…nice hit. 3-3
What does Jurries have to do this spring to see the majors?
1. Hit .500 with power.
2. Cure Chipper’s leg injuries.
3. Eliminate Thorman and Wilson.
Iker Franco another double, Braves up 4-3! Yay!
4-3–thats better
Nice…another doubles…let’s see…we had Julio, Matt and now Iker Franco.
offense getting our pen out of trouble, seen that somewhere before. Might as well get it over with in SP
SP = ST
Willie Harris doing his best Tony Pena impersonation.
What does Jurries have to do this spring to see the majors?

Apparently Pete Orr has decided that the way to get a roster spot on the big team is to kill Kelly Johnson.

Well I was 5th on the Tampa Bay depth chart last year, until Chris Simmms went down and Shawn King fell off the planet.
espn reports that plummer will retire instead of playing in another city
so i guess bledsoe or collins
Braves Win!
oops…excuse the double post.
it had its effect
