Giles might need heart surgery | ajc.com
He says his doctor says it would take about a week to recover, but I find that unlikely. More likely a week to be up and around and resume normal activity, but “normal activity” isn’t playing second base on a major league level. I have some family experience with this — and will probably eventually need heart valve work done on me as well — and while it’s not generally considered dangerous surgery it’s not something you just shrug off either.

Just got in from Mississippi’s game which we won…. while getting the awful scores of the big boys on my phone… AMAZING… WOW …I honestly could not believe what I was reading each time!
not good news for Marcus!! I hope all goes well though! I’ll definitely be thinking about him!
bad day for my McCann I see…. we tried getting him some ABs but it didn’t help him!
hopefully we leave the team that showed up tonight at the hotel and bring a different one tomorrow! (well today now! ..it’s 1:15am)
Whoa.
Best wishes for a speedy recovery, Marcus.
Ditto.
Wow, that i s amazing that they just cuaght it, thank God they did. I have 2 friends who had herat work before the age of 40, scary, but both were 100% real fast and back to normal work, a fireman and a federal marshall.
Wow, what is it with this recent surge of ballplayers having health problems like this? First Big Pappi with heart palpitations, then the Sox have more problems since a guy has cancer, and now Marcus. Sheesh. Hope these guys are allright.
Now this is just speculation, but I wonder if Ortiz and Giles are experiencing heart problems because of a genetic disorder, or maybe because they have dabbled in the Bondsian juice if you know what I mean.
My limited medical opinion would be it that its more likely to come from the Amphetamins
Ben I think you have a genetic disorder you know what I mean.
Something like this would be genetic.
