I know this is off topic, but a thought popped into my head last night after the game (which is scary, I know). Since we are obviously done for the year, what would happen if the Dodgers played the Mets in the NLCS ?? I’m not talking about Game 1 (Penny vs. Pedro), I’m talking about Game 2, which would conceivably be Glavine vs. Maddux and how weird that would be. I would have to pull for Maddux because of the Mets factor, but what would everybody else do ??? There would be five ex-Bravos in the lineup against Glavine, just a weird thought that popped into my head ….. How’s my girl Miranda tonight ???
I’d root for Maddux, but only because he’s not the Met.
Also, I think Glavine would go in Game 1 for them. You don’t know if Pedro’s gonna pitch again. If he does, I see him as a Game 3 starter, where he can only pitch one game in the first round at best.
BTW, I can’t root for the Mets ever.

Home Depot ad with Smoltz just appeared on ESPN. I’m reminded again of the ad I wrote earlier, if those ads reflected this season. Smoltz would have had something explode.
I live in NY & hear the Met talk on WFAN radio every day. Pedro had an MRI yesterday, but the Mets aren’t announcing the results, although they usually do. According to many to cover the team, that may mean that Pedro’s injury is worse than it seems.
Yes, he’ll get a couple starts in September, but I don’t expect him to be alright going into in the post-season. He’ll get one start per round at best. It’ll be a lotta Glavine, Trachsel & Maine.
Pedro’s a bad-ass & he’ll do his best, but if I’m a Met fan I don’t count on him in October.
Atleast Paciorek enjoyed the fact that Zimmerman threw out Smoltz…

uBubba,
Yeah I know what you’re saying about Pedro. It’s hard to say right now what will happen until the results are announced, but he certainly didn’t look anywhere near healthy his last start. I the my point was just to think about how crazy a Maddux-Glavine matchup would be for a Braves fan to watch on the big stage and to get some other people’s thoughts on it. I think that matchup would drive Smoltzie nuts more than any of us, but I just think it would be really really weird, but so was seeing Murph in a Phillies & Rockies uni, etc, etc, so I know those things happen these days.
I wonder how many homers Tony Pena Jr would have if he played on the moon… still zero…

Look at Tom Cruise. Scientology gives him the illusion of power and the ability to get rid of your problems (body thetans). Every celebrity I’ve seen as a scientologist (Travolta, Cruise, Elfman) are sexually questionable…
I love all you guys and yes, it would be very fun to compete with folks like Smitty & Stu, that said, I have learned my limit and 3 leagues is my max. Plus, you know I have that whole “marriage” thing that I kinda need to pay attention too…but again, appreciate the offer.
I would love to keep up with the league though as an “observer” and see who’s competing, who are the rosters…maybe Mac should have a separate “fantasy football” update page.
They are working on a comedy with Bobby Dews where jonathan Silverman and Andrew McCarthy play these two bumbling friends from New York who get invited to Bobby Dews’ house on the weekend, only to find out he died and have to pretend he’s alive.
1) Bobby Dews is dead
2) Langerhans is a choker
3) Todd Pratt is still in the big leagues
4) Ken Ray sucks
5) Ken Ray’s change up and fast ball are really the same pitch

Marcus Vick could’ve been a top 10 pick in the 07 draft if he would’ve stayed out of trouble.

Nicely done by Jeff…
Random fact. Jeff’s got the longest Hr this season by any Brave… McCann has the shortest.
We’ve had a lot of bad benches over the years, but this is one of the worst. Orr, Pratt, and T. Pena are amazingly unproductive.
Nice hit, Frenchy!
Are we going with the Ron Gant philosophy of scoring runs? Do we not want to get “too greedy?”
Don’t give up yet. This is getting interesting. Still nobody out…
Pratt is terrible.
I know that may be a shock, take a deep breath.
All right!
the pattented Todd Pratt double play ball…
Luckily Chuck Knoblauch plays second for Washington
Yea I Know, but what is there to write about?
The Braves suck, and CF hasn’t started yet….
Nothing to have a long post about…
LaRoche looks like he is going to have a good game????
Druckards…..
4-3!!!!!
We making a comeback!!!
We gonna catch the Mets!!!
By the by, I’ve rediscovered Big League Chew. I highly recommend it. It’s a blast from the past.
Don’t tell the kids, but “Big League Chew” is actually Beechnut or Red Man.
Is big league chew the chewing gum that comes out of a pouch?
Tastes like bubble gum to me.
Langerhans sucks
andruw sitting is absolutely killing us. what a bad matchup.
Atleast Paciorek enjoyed the fact that Zimmerman threw out Smoltz…
Gotta love Smoltz.
uBubba,
Yeah I know what you’re saying about Pedro.
Rob,
Ever chew gumbacco?
Can’t say I have. Is it any good?
is that what Jaret Wright chomps on?
Jim Bouton, of “Ball Four” fame, inventied Big League Chew
I mean, five years ago, how crazy would a Glavine with the Mets and Maddux with the Dodgers matchup in the NLCS be ?? That’s all I was saying …
Rob Nelson and Jim Bouton, yep.
I wonder how many home runs Soriano would have if he played in a park like Houston
Nice to see Diaz make a catch without rendering himself unconscious.
Rob,
Well, if you can stand the notion of chewing tobacco mixed with bubble gum, yeah.
Used to chew it when I played. But, I gotta admit, most find it pretty rough.
Ok, I’m back….woohoo I’m a first baseman.
But I play 3rd and Catcher…o well. 🙂
I thought Diaz would over run that ball. Giles should have made that play
I wonder how many homers Tony Pena Jr would have if he played on the moon… still zero…
That sounds horrible, ububba. I’ll stick to my BLC.
Gumbacco is fantastic BTW, a little Big League Chew and you can rock the Beechnut or Levi Garrett or Redman, my personal favorite was the Redman and that’s definately what Jaret Wright goes with
Wow, I can’t even crack 4Seams lineup. That shows how bad that order is! ha ha ha
That’s not fair, Davey. The Moon League is very good.
Wow, Zimmerman ending our season
What happened to Smoltzie…when I left it was 1-0.
Que Ryan Zimmerman to homer….I wonder if I am related to him?
You’re right Rob. The moon league is great. It did wonders for Jessie Garcia.
TOny Pena Jr couldn’t hit on the moon and his dad knows that. He still thinks he could hit in the big leagues.
I bet the play a lot of MLB 2006 in the Pena household
Jay10 Zimmerman??
I’m not big on MLB 2006. I liked 2005 much better.
Paciorek needs to punched in the mouth
The History Channel is taking a Hitler break and going with September 11 coverage
I saw my barber today, he says “hey”
Any word on McDowell or TP returning next year?
If you guys ever see me on TV looking like that guy in the wheel chair. Please end it for me
My barber says Freddie Gozo is gone off to manage the Cubs, TP becomes thirdbase coach and Don Baylor comes back to be hitting coach.
I saw Paul LoDuca today…
Since Todd Pratt was starting….he took Washington on the Moneyline…Washington on the Runline…and Washington in the first 5 innings..
Things are looking good for him…
Braves are bad, really bad.
I’ve taken Davey’s advice.
I’m working on a College Football Preview, Top 25, Overrated/Underrated, Best and Worst Conferences, etc.
I’ve decided to make it a massive undertaking, this thing might be done early this morning…..
Josh Zimmerman
My nickname has always been Jay or JayZ.
I just logged on…can someone give me a summary of why our best starter is losing to the freaking Nats?
Also, I dunno if Mac told you, but I was at the game last night. Considering how putrid the Braves played, it maybe the last time I see the Braves live for a WHILE.
Can any good come out of this year? Are we going to drive Smoltz to exhaustion again?
Big Papi just hit a Big Fly.
That sounds good 4-Seam.
Has Smoltz pitched badly or our defense let us down? Again…just logging on?
LOL the very next pitch Justin Verlander made Manny duck….Curveball right at his head.
Bad pitching Alex, but less than stellar defense.
Smoltz hasn’t been as great as usuall…
He had one really bad inning, giving up 4 runs..
Well my third cousin twice removed on my father’s side has a 3 RBIs and a homer.
Seeing Langy in center makes me a little sad.
Mostly Smoltz pitching badly, unfortunately.
Well Alex, Prat is calling a bad game and can get a hit with the bases loaded, nor could Chokerhands
Also Alex, join the fantasy football league
League ID: 468603
Password: Braves
Draft is Thursday at 7:30
Seeing Pratt behind the plate makes me sad.
Smitty…hadn’t seen anything about this before but I am stretched too thing with 3 leagues. Thanks for the offer.
Smoltz made a great play, but still…..
ugh
How do we expect to win when we alternate our second string offense with our second string pitching?
Maggs just went deep against Bob Wick… I mean David Wells.
I would hit Adam too, with slow ass on deck and chokerhands up next
Our fate rest in Langy’s hands…oh goody.
Andruw?
Aex R. who means more to you, faceless people who you have never met and barely know, or us?
He pulled through!
Langy!!! He got a RBI.
Yeah Alex, how long could it take to check one more team. Plus Stu is playing and you can beat his ass!
I don’t have much confidence in Andruw in this position. I hope he proves me wrong.
Choerhands may have a hit, but I would rather have Thorman
We’re going to see some mighty hacks in a bit.
RobBroad4th you should sign up too.
Andruw has to go yard here, swing for the fence young man
I would rather not see Pratt anymore
AJ!!!!!!
OH my God, I have never seen anything like that in my life
WTF??
weird play…
THAT….WAS….AWESOME.
Andruw!
Paciorek is dissapointed that Zimmerman couldn’t make the play…
Andruw hit a broken bat dribbler to Zimmerman, but the bat head hit Zimmerman’s arm and the ball rolled into left
Leave it to Giles.
FYI…my 3 leagues are all local so as much as I love you guys, there’s nothing “faceless” about these leagues. 🙂
OMG!!! Brent Clevlen just crushed one….I think he just hit Jesse Garcia on the moon.
And shockingly, a first pitch OUT for Giles. What a terrible leadoff hitter he is. So painfully being misplayed there.
Are we going to have any contest for Ron Hubbard memorabilia in the future?
Wow, Davey, you get to listen to Paciorek? Ha ha ha
You know, Paciorek was molested by a priest. Just a Paciorek factoid
I would trade Chokerhans and a mid level prospect for Church. He is a good player.
Actually…I’ve muted the tv now…and I’m listening to the play by play from the radio. There’s just so much Paciorek that I can handle on a given night.
Who does radio for the Nats?
I wish we could’ve traded Chokerhans and Salty to TB for Carl Crawford. But they have Dioner Navarro.
Javy Lopez looks weird in a BoSox uni.
I dunno Smitty. I’m listening to our guys on the radio. Pete and Joe..
Corey Patterson could have been ours for a song. He is going to steal like 50 bases this year
Why did he bring in a pinch Runner for Andrew in the sixth? With this tight of a game we are going to need his bat. Does somebody know something I don’t?
Yep…I bet the Cubbies are happy they have Juan Pierre.
Tendonitis in the knee I think, petros.
I dont think Chokerhans has much value on the free market, folks. I am even wondering about Salty’s value this offseason.
His kne is hurt, he just came in to hit for Smoltz. Look at it this way, now Bobby won’t be tempted to use Tony “Moonlight” Pena Jr.
How was that?
Probally because he can’t run on his knee that Langy caused.
I CALL FOR A CONSPRIACY!!!!!
He’s got a bad knee petros
K, cool, I missed that announcement. Now I feel better that bobby didn’t do something moronic.
Pete and Joe are music to my ears after 6 innings of Paciorek.
Should’ve done this since the first inning…
Oh so you know these people, then you should know better to play with us and not them… 😉
AJ has something for breaking his bat and hitting a baseball.
Earlier this season he had a broken bat drive up the middle that got through, tonights broken bat hit, and you can forget that broken bat Home Run to Center.
AJ is entertaining, knees, broken bats, bad shades, and all….
Jeez…Justin Verlander sucks tonight…7 BB and 1 IBB.
Wow, if I were Chokerhands (Chokey as Bobby would say) I would love my role as: “Late inning defensive replacement.”
Renteria is comming back down to Earth
Come on Chippa.
I think we’ve had the only Ron Hubbard giveaway about a month ago, with Mac sending me his Dianetics book. Fear not, my Scientologist folk, it will be resting on my bookshelf away from harm but away from any eyes that will read it. There’s plenty of fiction at your local library. OK, I’m done…
I hate to tell Chipper this, but that was a strike
I think he knows. No argument.
Wow Cora was safe
Your watching it too.
Flipping between two sinking ships Jay
Speaking of L. Ron, my buddies and I are going to have a “Battlefield Earth” night. I can’t wait.
Are the Yanks and Sox really going to have a 5 game series? I don’t think I have heard of that…at least not in a while.
I wish I had buddies…
RedBroad4th: HAHA! I take it you’re not a Scientologist?
It says the game is on FSN, yet I’m in Florida and I’ve got Best Darn Sports Show Period. What gives?
That’s the saddest thing I’ve ever heard, Davey.
LOL…I’ll be your buddy..
Scientology is for the sexually insecure.
Never heard that one. Expound?
If the Atlanta Braves Journal needs a 5th starter/Long Reliever, I’m available. Hey, I can at least outpitch Yates, Cormier, and Il-Jong.
Davey,
Your loneliness saddens me.
Speaking of which, how is Kim doing in St. Louis?
Yayy… Jay’s my buddy now
Is anyone else petrified of Ken Ray?
Look at Tom Cruise. Scientology gives him the illusion of power and the ability to get rid of your problems (body thetans). Every celebrity I’ve seen as a scientologist (Travolta, Cruise, Elfman) are sexually questionable…
Kearns ears look fake
Issac Hayes?
I love all you guys and yes, it would be very fun to compete with folks like Smitty & Stu, that said, I have learned my limit and 3 leagues is my max. Plus, you know I have that whole “marriage” thing that I kinda need to pay attention too…but again, appreciate the offer.
I would love to keep up with the league though as an “observer” and see who’s competing, who are the rosters…maybe Mac should have a separate “fantasy football” update page.
Oh yeah, that situation creeps me out.
sexually questionable…
I think the doctor said something like that when I was born…not sure though.
I’m sure Hayes has his own demons.
It looks like his ERA has gone down….it is 5.12
It won’t be as fun to watch Alex, I plan to dominate
Not if Bobby Dews’ crew has anything to say about that….
I didn’t do so well last time I played…I am a bit of a homer. Lots and Lots of hokies on my team…But this year I vow to pick the best.
Davey, I hate to tell you this. Bobby Dews is dead. That man cathing in our bullpen is taxidermy
Yeah I don’t know if you know this but he is on strings…
YOu could change your name to Bobby Dews’ corpse…
I saw a movie called “Bobby Dews Is Dead.”
My favorite thing about playing the Nats is waiting to see if Frank Robinson falls asleep.
I saw a movie called, “Snakes on Bobby Dews’ Corpse.”
Ray might be working in Home Depot next year.
Speaking of walking corpses…how is Al Davis doing?
That man is scary to look at.
Hey Kenny Ray, try not walking people. You stink.
Wow, I hate Ken Ray
UGH..
I can’t watch anymore.
Where’s Tyler Yates?
OMG!!! Thanks Kenny.
Snakes on Ken Ray’s pitching arm..
I have to go anyway. If you find yourself on a ledge tonight, I’ll keep you company.
DId Chipper think Castro was bunting?
IF KEN RAY THROWS ANOTHER CHANGE UP, I AM GOING TO PUNCH BOBBY DEWS’ DEAD FACE!
They are working on a comedy with Bobby Dews where jonathan Silverman and Andrew McCarthy play these two bumbling friends from New York who get invited to Bobby Dews’ house on the weekend, only to find out he died and have to pretend he’s alive.
It’s called, “Weekend at Bobby’s”
Let’s leave Bobby Dews out of this!!.
He would’ve struck Schneider out with straight filth!!
Pete is saying the Braves should get Castro to lead off next year.
Oh, and Kenny Ray has offically turned into garbage. I look forward to him NOT being in the Braves bullpen next yr.
Oh, that was a creative sign.
The two best closers in the Baseball.
Papelbon
and
Papi-bon
The guys in our bullpen are good closers too…they just happen to close it for the opposing teams…
Well the eulogy goes up if we lose this game and one more on this trip
yay! I’m leading off on opening day! WOOHOO! that’s exciting!
well I thought we were gonna get back into the game but now we’re way down AGAIN!
Hey I just noticed something…
The Nats have had run scoring innings of 4,2, and now 3.
We have had 3 and 2.
Where’s are 4 run inning?
Jay10,
It happened on Monday I think.
LaRoche!!!!
5 Things learned tonight:
1) Bobby Dews is dead
2) Langerhans is a choker
3) Todd Pratt is still in the big leagues
4) Ken Ray sucks
5) Ken Ray’s change up and fast ball are really the same pitch
Wow…Adam crushed it
I hate Ken Ray even more now
How deflating is Todd Pratt….
To’dd’ Pratt’s new nickname is Double D
Langerhans should come and paint my house…
Wait, there is something around Ryan’s neck…Oh it is his hands.
I hope Pete Orr doesn’t lead off next inning
Cora turns a nice double play
Presenting Ken “Tampa Bay Devil” Ray, in the Doghouse…
Video of Todd Pratt hitting is currently being sent to Guatanamo to torture captured terrorists.
Is he a virgin to the doghouse?
When Variteck comes back, are the Sox going to carry three catchers?
With this year’s club, there are really no Virgins in the doghouse, are there?
I think Sosa and Reitsma were whores when it came to the Doghouse.
The Reds carry three Catchers….LaRue, Valentine and Ross.
Is danny baez dead too? Why is Yates in the game? If he has a scoreless inning tomorrow in the blow out, is he going to be the closer?
yeah, $3 whores.
lol
It’s a five part series actually Alex..
Part 2 is “The Jorge Sosa save opportunity”
Part 3 is “Tony Pena Jr..hitting machine”
Part 4 is “The Jason Shiell emergency start”
Part 5 is “Tyler Yates and the close ballgame”
Don’t forget “Reitsma’s how to hide an injury till it ruins your career”
Omar Infante is sick!
When Nicolas Cage was looking for “snuff” in 8mm…all he found was footage of our bullpen..
Yeah I like him… The Tigers have alot of good young players.
The Reds are going to win the Central and the Phillies are going to win the wild card
I am starting to think the Reds may win the Central…
Pete Orr and Marcus Giles to start us off, lets save some time and put two outs up there
Pete Orr leading off.
The bad Braves players should start their own series of “Chicken soup for the Soul” books…but call it, “Chicken sh– for the soul-less” and it could be a whole series on stupid things you just have to do.
Wow, Orr got a hit
Giles and Renteria will end the game
Francouer:
“Chicken sh– for the Swing at everything!”
Reitsma:
“Chicken sh– for how to hide injuries!”
Todd Pratt:
“Chicken sh– for how to steal roster spots!”
We should trade Orr, Pratt, Yates, Ray, and Tony Jr. for some more Kool-aid.
Wow, Giles just swung at a pitch Francouer woudl have taken
Only if it is Grape
I don’t know who would give up Kool-aid for that bunch…
Peterson Thomas Gord Orr, Canadian At-Large, as a pinch-hitter:
.267 .283 .400
As a second baseman:
.161 .161 .226
As a third baseman:
.174 .208 .304
I think it is about thim for the “Oh wow Giles hanging in there…” crap
Deal…I’ll put the call into the big ass kool-aid pitcher.
“Peterson Thomas Gord Orr”….
Wow…I feel like changing my name to that
Giles has swung at 8 balls in this AB
Yeah, that kinda rolls right off the tounge doesn’t it.
STUPID GILES!!!!!!!!!! THAT WAS BALL FOUR
DId they just say Orr was an all-star
It does appear that he has the name of two hockey icons, but then he is Canadian.
ugh,
Yeah..get that eulogy started Smitty…
well we lost again in fine fashion
Maybe in Canada.
I think this performance deserves some high fives and ass slaps..
Dodgers got pounded by the AAA Marlins…15-4.
