SI.com – MLB – Ex-Indians skipper Manuel to manage Phils – Wednesday November 3, 2004 9:17PM
So they replaced a maniac with an ineffectual loser. Heck, if Charlie Manuel can just not cost the team anything he’d be a vast improvement.
I’m just glad they didn’t get Jim Leyland.
The Mets hired Willie Randolph, who’s pretty much an unknown quantity as a manager.
The pattern continues. Fire an intense guy, hire a low key guy. If the Phillies ever hire a smart guy; we might be in trouble. But I’m not too worried.
Charlie makes Danny Murtaugh look animated. At least he’s not Mike Hargrove, where you have to constantly put the mirror under his nose to check whether or not he’s breathing.
I will be curious to see how Randolph does.
Can someone please tell me why the hell the name Kevin Brown and the Braves seem to be associated all over the net? The Yankees would have to take a large portion of the contract. Isn’t he owed 15 million this year?
The idea is that the Yankees are so disgusted with Brown that they’d be willing to practically give him away and pay all but a few million dollars of his contract just to get him out of the Bronx.
