Not only did I get through the hurricane unscathed with nothing more than periodic outages and brownouts, I got to miss the Braves getting shellacked and Steve Trachsel pitching! I am fine and should be with you tonight.
As for said shellacking, Capellan — as I said at the time of his first start, and now as everyone is saying — needs a real breaking pitch. He seems to have two curveballs, but the one that breaks he can’t throw for strikes, and the one that he can throw for strikes doesn’t break. The words “batting practice fastball” come to mind. Everything he throws is up. Now, a 99-MPH fastball letter high is one heck of a pitch, but that won’t do it alone. Personally, I think that he is better suited for a Smoltz fastball-slider-splitter repertoire.
