BravesBeat.com–Braves Defeat Expos 4-3
Okay, I’ll comment on a spring training game if I have something to say… It’s early, of course, but the minor leaguers are making their presence known. Donzell McDonald (a minor league free agent pickup I didn’t mention) scored two runs, including the game winner by Ryan Langerhans. Better yet, Jeff Francoeur hit a home run. Langerhans and McDonald might have outside chances to play themselves onto the roster, but Francoeur is the future.
The other AJC story today (the notes package, not the one about Pendleton) indicates that Francoeur is already ticketed for Rome, Ga., the new home of the Braves’ Low-A Sally League team. So it should be at least two years before we see him in Atlanta. I wonder if he’ll beat Betemit there.
Two questions:
1. What’s the story with that team’s move from Macon?
2. How do you pronounce Francoeur?
To my best knowledge:
1. Macon wouldn’t build a new stadium or even work on “upgrading” if you will the old one so Rome offered and the Braves took it.
2. “Frane-coor”? Methinks that’s it.
I remember right after he was drafted that he told the AJC or some other press that his name was pronounced like Fran-cower or something similar to that.
His name is pronounced Fran-coor. i should know, I know him personally.
