Two runs in the bottom of the 6th and a lack of offense contributed to the Braves doom (dooooom?) as the Giants take the rubber game of the 3-game series, and Atlanta finishes the west coast portion of the road trip 1 – 5. Chris Sale struck out 10 in 6 innings, but 3 infield singles and a couple of throwing errors in that 6th led to an earned and an unearned run. A single, double, and sacrifice fly against Didier Fuentes in the 7th led to the decisive run. Fuentes did rebound to strike out the last 2 hitters.
The Braves didn’t score their first run until the 8th, and it was unearned. Despite striking out only 2 batters, Robbie Ray allowed only 4 hits and a walk in his 8 innings, along with that unearned run. Atlanta got their final run in the 9th following a leadoff double by Matt Olson and had the tying run on 2nd with 2 outs, but Mike Yastrzemski struck out to end it. Olson had 3 of the Braves 6 hits.
The Braves gave Ha-Seong Kim his 4th straight start in an attempt to get his bat going, and his 0 – 2 today left him 0 – 11 over those 4 games. His batting average stands at an inglorious O-68, and that’s not a bingo. I wonder if this was a last audition for Kim, and can the Braves stand to eat his contract or else will they relegate him to the Charlie Culberson Memorial Witness Protection Program for 26th men.
The Braves will look to turn things around against the Cardinals after taking a day off and getting back to their home ground. Martin Perez and Matthew Liberatore scheduled at 7:15 Eastern.
From FanGraphs, the Braves divisional odds peaked at 90.9% on June 5. Today, it’s at 63.7%.
The only time the Braves survived a patch like this was 2021 when AA brought in 4 hitters. We need hitting. Like I said, the Braves will not win consistentky until they can score 5+ runs per game. It’s hard to blame the pitching when you’ve lost the last two Sale starts. Maybe every game should be a bullpen game since we have the best bullpen in the league.

And ol’ Riley hasn’t homered since May 20th. No bueno for a slugging 3rd basemen. But yall know that already.
I don’t know Devers average against the Braves all-time – – but doesn’t it seem like he goes 4-4 with a homer in every game against ATL? Or is that just me?
Someone had the stat: Devers has a career ~1.100 OPS against the Braves.
Devers vs ATL: in 40 G & 167 PA, he has 13 HR & 45 RBI w/ 1.092 OPS (.336/.407/.685)… for 162 G, that would be 53 HR & 182 RBI.
Yes, no matter which uniform he’s wearing, he kills us.
I know I’ve seen him hit a buncha HRs in Yankee Stadium over the years… turns out he’s hit 31 vs. NYY in 122 G & 515 PA. Like a lotta power LHHs, his eyes light up when he sees that short RF porch.

The Braves have scored 74 runs in June. The next lowest is Cleveland with 82. Yikes! The starting rotation has not been our main issue, I think.

This has been a listless franchise since 2023. At some point, the on-field problems point to the front office. I’m pretty much there.
