One is the loneliest number that you ever knew.
Two can be as bad as one, but the loneliest number is the number one.
It’s just no good anymore since nobody scores.
So we spend our time waiting while the crowd snores.
That’s as far as I can go with this for now. Clearly the Braves either have to get some offense going, or they will not make the post season. Is it Seitzer? I don’t think so. Are the injuries a big part of that. Clearly, yes. Is overly hopeful evaluation (Adam Duvall, Jorge Soler) part of the problem. Yeah, throw those in. But no matter what the problem is, it is beyond annoying or concerning and into some sort of postapocalyptic dystopian reality.
Charlie Morton had a more than minimal Quality Start. He pitched 6 2 / 3rds with 7 K’s. Only 2 walks and 6 hits (one double the only extra base variety). Definitely at age 40, “Good Charlie” showed up.
Meanwhile the unartfully named “Braves hitters” got 2 singles (both from Matt Olson) and 1 walk. Against Nick Martinez for 7. You never do anything but lose when you score 0 in baseball. Not getting any runs is embarrassing. This was the 10th shutout of this wretched, wretched offense.
Can the Braves get their act together against the Nationals or against somebody?

Honestly, even if they did, I don’t think the offense is going to do much in the postseason while actually facing good pitching instead of mediocre ones. The lineup is bad and so is the lineup construction. I could be wrong because the postseason is a crap shoot. But I don’t think this is our year. Even if Albies and Riley make it back, they will be very rusty and coming off hand and wrist injuries, and now we have to play Luke Williams because Merrifield broke his damn foot.
10th shutout?! Ughhhh. Good grief
When your replacement players start getting injured, it certainly seems like a sign from above.
Nonetheless, at the very least, I still want to break the Mets’ hearts in the end.
