Alive since 1956. Braves fan since 1966. The first ten years were pretty much wasted. Exiled to Yankees/Mets territory in 1974 --- bearable only with TBS followed by MLB.TV.
For some reason tonight’s lineup isn’t embedding…. But you know who’s out there, don’t you?

Thanks for compiling. I like most of these scenarios where we go 2-0, so that seems like our best option. Let’s win baby.
Am I hallucinating or is there no scenario where we all go 1-1 or we all go 2-2?

Soler with the tying run despite his best efforts to the contrary, twice. That was from the Adam Duvall school of baserunning.

Here’s what I want: the crew on the broadcast just described a scenario where the braves would have to play a game on Monday that means nothing to them because they are already in, but it means everything to the Mets so it would still have to be played.
I want Jesse Chavez to start and throw a complete game no-hitter to keep the Mets out of the playoffs. Then he retires. That’s my dream scenario!

I’m not optimistic at this point. Seems like this will come down to Manfred Men

If Contreras was still around d’Arnaud wouldn’t have hit that HR

If we didn’t know then, we do now.
Travis is so classy and generous to his teammates in the postgame interview. He seems like a genuinely good person.

No matter what happens in Phoenix, there is still the possiblility that Arizona will be in unless there is a split on Monday. (Braves lose tomorrow, Mets win and Arizona does whatever they don’t do tonight). That is still the nightmare scenatio for the integrity of the game, as the Braves and Mets have every incentive both to (a) not try; and (b) split.
If Arizona loses tonight and tomorrow there will be no Monday baseball if the Mets win tomorrow. That’s for sure.
In just about every other scenario, the Mets need a sweep to get in no matter what they do tomorrow.

Padres take the lead with 3 in the top of the 9th…
Edit – make that 5. Looking like another loss for Arizona…
I had no idea when I agreed 2 months ago to help my son’s Cub Scout pack sell popcorn outside a grocery store tomorrow afternoon that it was the last day of the MLB regular season, and that we would be intently following 3 games at the same time. :/

So if the Padres lose tonight, we just need to win 1 of the last 3 to get in since we hold the tie breaker, right?
JonathanF

I believe the Braves are in unless (a) the Dbacks win tomorrow; and (b) the Braves lose tomorrow. At that point the Braves and DBacks are tied, and if they are swept in a doubleheader they are out. So yes… the Braves have to lose all three to be eliminated.
Note also that this is true whether the Mets win or lose tomorrow.

So… If the DBacks lose tomorrow the Braves are in. However, if the Mets lose as well then we still have to play on Monday, since a Braves sweep would put the Dbacks in.
If the Mets win, Monday baseball is canceled.
If the Dbacks win tomorrow then it doesn’t matter what the Mets or Braves do… At least one game will have to be played on Monday, and maybe two. But if the Braves lose tomorrow they could fall behind the Dbacks if swept by the Mets

Reynaldo Freakin’ Lopez! Braves ’24 pitching is last year’s offense. One more. Go Braves!

Just win and we’re in. I almost want to see one meaningless game on Monday just to see what line-up Snit puts out and who pitches. But fingers crossed that scenario doesn’t come to pass.

I hope no one forgets how similar the Royals and the Cardinals were back in the late 70s. Both relied mostly on speed, contact, and defense. Missouri baseball on turf. Also, how can anyone forget Willie Wilson? He as much exemplified the Royals as these other guys. Among others like Darrell Porter, Lou Pineilla, John Mayberry, Paul Splittorff.

And of course Whitey Herzog was the common denominator (in addition to Missouri and the carpet).

You’re right, Roger. Part of my problem when writing this stuff is that if I really start a reverie on what I really remember I won’t get to the recap. Yes, Darrell Porter and Hal McRae are way more salient to me than Larry Gura… though I still insist that the name Larry Gura will always connote KC to me, even though he pitched for other teams as well.
