Y’all ever read Horton Hears a Who? One way or another, Morton mows ’em down will be the tale of Game 2 with the Rockies.
Uncle Charlie Morton takes the mound tonight for the Braves. Atlanta looks to continue the torrid pace the starting pitchers have been on, and Morton mows ’em down is the theme. Hopefully, he isn’t mowing ’em down by hitting people on the foot and ankle with the back-foot curve. My preference is striking people out and keeping the ball in the yard. Both have been a bit of a challenge for Charlie, but he is also part of this historic starting pitching run.
Twenty-three year-old Bradley Blalock will start for the Rox. He is 1-1 with a 4.98 ERA and 1.62 WHIP. Bradley was born in Conyers, GA and went to Grayson H.S. in Loganville. I’m pretty sentimental, except when it comes to hometown kids opposing the Braves. Then I am more inclined to be raucous as Morton mows ’em down.
First pitch is set for 7:20 Easter, 6:20 Central at Truist Park.

Nice start, fellas…
We’ve matched the Mets who are also up 4-0 after one inning.
Alas, Charlie gonna Charlie.
I have grown to not really care for CJ so much in the booth. I much prefer Frenchy or Glavine
As of right now, if this team makes the playoffs, Morton has to be the odd man out of the rotation. I’m starting Sale, Lopez, Fried, and Bach before Morton.
Ahh, Bach.
So it looks like Harris is the only position player on the 25-man roster who came up through the Braves system. (Albies & Riley are on the IL.) Have there been any games with no homegrown position players? I can’t remember if Harris came back before Riley was hurt.
Horrifically belated recap posted!
