Uncle Charle Morton will try to fend off the gNats and starting pitcher Jake Irvin in Game 2 of a 3 game series. Game time is set for 6:20 CT/7:20 ET. Irvin is carrying a 9-10 record with a 3.81 ERA while Charlie is working with a 7-7 record and a 4.29 ERA. Charlie’s August starts thus far have been great, horrible, great, great. Needless to say, I’d like for the great to continue.
Jason Heyward Delenda Est
In an interesting turn of events, Jason Heyward was DFA’d by the Dodgers and it got me thinking about the Braves bringing him home to retire as a Brave. However, I was reminded by my good friend Boggy that the Braves are slightly over the 3rd tier tax at the moment and that would, for sure, push that number further away. There are some things the Braves can do in the 5 day window after the World Series is over that could alleviate that problem, but signing Heyward would only complicate matters. So, while it sounds like a fun idea, I’m guessing it’s going to be a no.

Jorge Soler is not in the lineup and I’m guessing that he still isn’t fully healthy. Dang.

Whit Merrifield has been an upgrade on Ozzie, which makes me sad.
Clearly on defense but offensively as well, which is depressing.

When Ozzie is healthy enough to return, assuming no more injuries (LOL), one has to consider him playing LF.
Why does Snitker insist on hitting Harris leadoff? He is the 2nd worst hitter in the lineup right now. (Actually, Arcia might be better of late) What happened to Soler batting leadoff?
Soler has been out with injury. And he hasn’t looked fully back yet to my eye. He’s gotten a few pitches to mash and has been just slightly under them.
Soler can barley run, his hamstring is not good. I love Ozzie, but his arm has just disappeared, and he’s young, its so odd.
