I had all my “feel good” drain out of me when I woke up this AM. I thought for sure that the Braves were going to sweep the Angels,, but I’ve learned that I should not trust my eternal optimism this season. Hopefully the Braves can pull one out with their best starting pitcher Chris Sale on the mound. Game starts at, a very specific, 9:38 CT/10:38 ET. Good luck catching the end of this one east coasters.
Transaction a Day AA
A few days back, the Braves designated Parker Dunshee for assignment and since no one found him worthy of a claim, he was outrighted to Gwinnett. I think he’s a guy that could become a pretty good reliever in time, but that time is not now.
Some Whit Merrifield Love
I wasn’t very optimistic when the Braves signed Whit Merrifield. And while his time on the team hasn’t been full of power, he has shown the ability to get on base. In his 60 plate appearances with the team, Merrifield has carried a .379 OBP and if the Braves ever find their power stroke, that OBP will prove to be a key component.
Braves Lineup
Chris Sale, you’re up…and we are desperate.

I wish they had Merrifield leading off instead of Harris.
Snitker pitching Pierce Johnson in a 9 run lead when he just pitched last night.
Chris Sale leads the world in strikeouts, we’re up 11-3, and we got extra-base hits from Harris, Ozuna, d’Arnaud, Laureano, and Merrifield. Great time for Herget to pitch the garbage time innings. I dearly hope Travis is okay, but all in all, pretty great.
AJSS only pitched 1 scoreless inning before leaving the game last night. Anyone know what’s up?
No health issues. Rain delay after one inning and he didn’t/couldn’t come back when play resumed.
Phew!
Thanks TFloyd.
Argh.

I’ve wanted Rosario for years, he’s been available basically for free, and we haven’t gotten him. (I get that this time we would have probably lost out in waiver priority, but I expect we could’ve gotten him at the deadline.) Maybe I’m hugely overvaluing him, but compared with our current infield depth, I can’t possibly fathom how he would fail to help the team.
If Riley ends up having to go to the IL, then it looks like Nacho would get another chance.
Was hoping for a Kochanowicz/Schwellenbach matchup but it is not in the cards. Next time!
I’m at Angels stadium for this one. My first time at this park.
Morton always seems to run into an inning where he loses all control.
Haven’t been watching – what happened to Austin?
Hit by pitch. Hopefully he’s okay.
He got hit in the hand/wrist with a 97 mph sinker.
Iggy has been lockdown all year.
Gio Urshela was DFA’ed by Detroit a couple of days ago. If Riley has to go to the IL.
Apparently Nacho has missed the last several games. Not sure if he is hurt or what.
A 6-4 Western road trip — gotta be happy with that.
Sounds like we won’t know about Riley until they get back to Atlanta for more tests.
