Don’t look now, but the Braves won again on Thursday night and are closing in on the Philthies, just six games back.
It only seems fitting that Austin Riley is leading the charge, given his hunting proclivity, but the Braves have me conjuring up Duran Duran tonight.
Stalked in the forest, too close to hide
I’ll be upon you by the moonlight side (do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do)
High blood drumming on your skin, it’s so tight
You feel my heat, I’m just a moment behind (do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do)In touch with the ground
I’m on the hunt I’m after you
A scent and a sound, I’m lost and I’m found
And I’m hungry like the wolf.Duran Duran
Don’t look now, Philthies, but we’re on the hunt and we’re after you losers.
Riley went yard in the bottom of the first, hitting a bender just over the right field fence. Two batters later, Matty Ice belted a spinner into the chophouse to give the Braves a 3-0 lead. I gotta tell ya, I love me some first inning runs. It makes the hunt of the Philthies feel all the more possible.
Uncle Charlie Morton was good enough on this night, working around traffic on multiple occasions. Morton worked six innings of one-run ball. He allowed five hits and two walks while striking out six. The lone run he allowed came because his own errant pick-off attempt at first base. A sac fly scored that run for the Miami Marlins, who look more like the Jumbo Shrimp after the trade deadline.
Orlando Magic
X or Twitter or whatever we are calling it these days was roasting Brian Snitker ahead of the game because Orlando Arcia was in the five-hole. In the bottom of the third, Orlando said Arcia-later again, his 10th on the year, and provided the last offense of the night for the Braves. Arcia and Olson’s resurgence is real news for the Braves.

Old friend Luke Jackson gave up a hit to the first hitter he faced as the Marlins cut the lead to 4-2, but A.J. Minter and Raisel Iglesias were nails once again in the eighth and ninth innings.
Spencer Schwellenbach looks to build on his recent performances in game two of the series with the fish. Meanwhile, the Philthies begin a west coast swing against the Mariners. Don’t look now, but we’ve got ourselves a race!

I gave up on the division before the All Star break, but there’s life in this team and they’re still the same guys they were last year and they’re waking up from their slumber.
Truth be told, we only won this game because Jazz Chisholm wasn’t there to hit grand slams for the Fish, but a W’s a W
Great win, but we should have been able to score more than four against this lot
Hungry like the wolf. Nice. One of my favorite bands. Went to Lucca, Italy, ten days ago to watch them play in the town square at nights. They are still absolutely amazing live.
