In the small amount of time that David Fletcher occupied 2B, one could tell he was a superior defender to both Ozzie Albies and Luis Guillorme. It’s not surprising considering he’s known for his glove and, outside of COVID ball, has never carried an OPS above .800 in his career. When Fletcher was called up to the bigs due to the Ozzie injury, he surpassed a milestone for his career: 5 years service time. That gives Fletcher the right to refuse an assignment to the minors. However, Fletcher was outrighted to AAA Gwinnett, not optioned. Normally, this means he has to pass through waivers, go unclaimed, and either choose to accept his assignment or become a free agent. However, and I’ve yet to see this information before, but apparently AA has a different arrangement with Fletcher:
It’s assumed by the experts that this was something the Angels negotiated in Fletcher’s contract, not the Braves and I can now see why the Braves would choose to trade for him as this essentially means he has unlimited options, which is a real luxury for the team considering he can play both middle infield positions really well.
Ozzie Albies is BACK
Breaks a toe and is out a week. What a world! And if you didn’t catch this, make sure to watch it in your spare time.

That Ozzie doc was a little disappointing. Nice to see him relaxed at home in Curacao, and cool to learn about his foundation and his relationship with his dad, but I think they could have done a ten-minute video rather than a 30-minute video. Super repetative.
But I am SO excited that he’s back!! Can’t wait for the game tonight!
Haven’t watched the doc yet, but I can see my block (and neighbor’s house) in the background of that Twitter (X) promo video.
Dammit Brandon you woke me up.
Another ugly error by Olson, picking up a squibber then losing the ball on the transfer from his glove to his throwing hand to toss to the pitcher covering first base.
He’s slumping on both sides of the ball now.
So, why wasn’t that a ground-rule double for Harris?
I think Harris got robbed on that one.
Ozuna is still just out-of-his-mind, blazing hot.
Matt – some redemption! Nicely done, Olson.
Ozzie’s real good at hitting.
Even though Ronald is not yet hitting the ball with authority, he’s still an excellent leadoff man. He is not chasing out of the zone, his OBP is over .400 and he’s fourth in mlb in runs scored. And I’m still confident he gets his timing down (coming soon!) and starts once again to hit with power. His final season numbers will look like last year’s.
Breaking: Chris Sale is good.
Chris Sale at 35 and after all the injuries looks a lot like the Chris Sale of 2012-2018. He and Lopez each have a WHIP in the top ten in the NL.
That is the most bizarre set of defensive switches I have ever seen.
