This is the 2nd installment in our Braves Top Prospects list. Our first piece were the 9 players that missed the top-25 and can be found here.

Braves Top Prospects, #25: Lucas Braun, RHP, 22, A-, 2025

A senior sign in the 6th round, Braun actually has some potential to turn into a serviceable
pitcher either as a 4th/5th starter or in long relief. While all 4 of his standard pitches grade as
average he somehow gets swinging strikes with his slider at a 40% clip, which gives him that Bryse
Elder feel. You really don’t know what you have with this type of player until they get to AA, but
given his age and college career, I wouldn’t be surprised if that happened this coming season.

#24 Garrett Baumann, RHP, 19, A-, 2027

A big guy – 6’8” 245 big – Baumann is a development project but comes with a lot of positives
including hitting 97 with the fastball, a good change and surprisingly good balance on the
mound. The breaker is erratic and his motion can get fouled up by all the moving parts, but
overall the kid has a lot to dream on. Check back in a couple of years and we’ll see what we
have here. I’m hoping for a #3 starter!

#23, Isaiah Drake, CF, 18, Complex, 2026

Drake turned 18 the week after the draft making him the youngest draftee of 2023. As a
prepster his career, body and tools are remarkably similar to Michael Harris, and doesn’t that
give us something to dream on. His season stats aren’t much to look at, but 1) it isn’t much of a
sample to go on and 2) he was about 2 ½ years younger than average for the league. This is
probably the lowest guy on the list with some chance to be a quality MLB player (spoiler alert! Most
of them won’t).

#22, John Gil, SS/3B, 18, Dominican Summer, 2027

A bit of an under the radar signing from the Dominican last January, Gill showed off impressive
defensive chops at both third and short last season. While he showed only gap power as a hitter
he made up for that by being really young and running a 33/34 BB/SO ratio which will play in
any league. The usual caveats about waiting to see him in the US apply.

#21, Sabin Ceballos, 3B, 21, A-, 2026

Our 3rd round pick out of the U of Oregon also played catcher and right field in college but was
used exclusively at 3rd in his short pro debut by the Braves. Tall and somewhat stocky in build
he sort of reminds me of Riley. From a tools standpoint he has a plus hit and arm but is
somewhat sketchey on power and field and might already be the slowest non-catcher in the
organization. Despite the 40 grade on his fielding he was terrific in his 14 games so I don’t know
what to make of that. He looked good on the field in the one game I saw him.
