2 down, 2 to go. It’s Braves and Dodgers Game 3 with Bryce Elder taking one Emmett Sheehan. Sheehan, the Dodgers 6th round pick in the 2021 draft. He carries a high octane FB that averages 95.7, then a slider and a change up. The heater is his bread and butter, but he’s been slapped around in the bigs thus far (5.63 ERA). I’ll not lie, Elder worries me with this lineup but likely no more than a Dodgers fan is worried about Sheehan against this Braves lineup.
Transaction a Day AA
I thought Darius Vines would get the nod again in a few days considering he had such a strong debut, but it’s a hard no from AA. A week back, I made a prediction that Kyle Wright would be back after 2 rehab starts and I’m wondering if that is the plan. Honestly, I hope not. Ben Heller, who’s been lights out at AAA, rejoins the pen to see if he can stick this time.
Braves Lineup
It’s the A+ lineup tonight and let’s put these suckers down for the count.
MILB Note
Hurston Waldrep is pitching for Mississippi tonight and looks good early on, although he’s walked 3 in 3 innings. I’m still interested to see what AA does with him and if he gets added to the 40-man at some point in September.
Braves only need to win 11 of their last 28 to get to a 100 win season.
The Dodgers & Orioles, 17 of their last 28.
The Rays, 18 of their last 27.
Who gets there besides the Braves?
I want two-thirds wins. I want 108 wins. We still have a shot.
I’d say the Dodgers and O’s make it.
Lol, the 121.2 mph exit velocity on Ronald’s homer is laughable. Like, this guy just isn’t human.
I am as big a Braves fan as anyone, but that third strike on Betts was not in the zone.
Props to Bryce, man. Respect your Elder! Dude just threw six innings of one-run ball in Chavez Ravine!
Come on, Big Bear…get us a run here!
Shelby Miller’s ERA going into tonight’s game was 2.32. The last time his ERA was below 4 for a season, he was a Brave, and Dansby Swanson was in low-A ball. That’s also the last time he pitched more than 101 innings in a season.
However this game ends up it’s a win. Great performance wiggling out of trouble all night by Bryce and good follow up by the pen. No run support but we already won two games. Just an outstanding road trip regardless of tonight’s or tomorrow’s results.
And such a great inning from the Gulf.
ORLANDO!!!
OM MY GOD
Magic.
I’m greedy, I really want a sweep, even though I would’ve taken a series split at the beginning of the series.
How can anyone doubt Acuna’s bona fides now? He has far outplayed Betts in this series. And with Olson’s cold streak, Acuna stands by himself again.
True on both counts! Acuña with a season we will never forget!
Recapped.
