Atlanta looks to end a three game skid this evening in Pittsburgh. It will be Braves, Bucs – Game 2 at 7:10 ET/6:10 CT

Yonny Chirinos (5-4, 4.42) will take on Mitch Keller (9-8, 4.35) in game 2 of this four-game set. In our fearless leader’s series preview yesterday, Ryan Cothran indicated the Braves had a rather large advantage in games 1, 3, & 4. You may read that here: https://bravesjournal.com/2023/08/07/braves-vs-pirates-series-preview/. Given the results of Game 1, let’s hope Braves, Bucs – Game 2 goes better for the good guys.

Chirinos looks to shore up his spot as the Braves’ innings-eating #5 starter tonight. His first start for the Braves was inauspicious, but his last outing was a little more promising. The veteran right-hander threw five innings of three run ball, beating the Los Angeles Ohtani’s. The Braves don’t need Chirinos to dominate, they just need him to not give up five or six ones in one inning tonight.

Mitch Elder or Mitch Keller?

Keller was an All-Star for the Pirates just a few weeks ago, but similar to Bryce Elder, Keller has struggled significantly in his last seven starts. The Cedar Rapids, IA native is 1-5 with a 6.58 ERA in his past seven outings. In fact, he has given up nine, six, and nine runs to the Ohtani’s, Filthies, and Brewers in his last three starts.

Let’s hope Matt Olson plates a run in his 100th straight game tonight. I mean, let’s hope Matt drives in his 100th run tonight. If he does, it will be his 11th straight game with an RBI. Dude has been amazing! Go get ’em boys!
